- Recently it feels like Splatoon 3 is in a weird spot. While a good chunk of the player base is chugging on with business as usual, there are some people who end up falling out of the game and not having new people trickling in to take their place. But Side Order is in the position to reverse that flow and possibly put many more eyes on Splatoon 3 like the Octo Expansion did with Splatoon 2 back in 2018. So I wanted to talk about some ways that could guarantee that the campaign does well and Splatoon 3 gets a boost in activity. What are you most looking forward to seeing in Side Order? I'm hoping Agent 4 comes back, they are criminally underrated. Hopefully Side Order gives them more personality so more Splatoon fans can like them.
Yeah, as someone who hasn't looked much into the agents' characters myself, I'm eager to see what people like so much about them.

I REALLY hope Side Order is really difficult, or better yet has difficulty options outside of the levels having pre-set difficulty. I firmly believe if levels and rewards aren't randomized and its always just "Fish horde survival - Easy, Splat Zones minigame - Medium, ect." per floor then Side Order won't be at all replayable. Hopefully Nintendo just goes off the deep end and commits to making it a Roguelite and doesn't half-bake the mechanics and difficulty like they usually do for their modern games...

I really wanna hope that the fish levels they showed are just one type of mode that the campaign has. Like the 8-ball being one of numerous modes in Octo Expansion.

I really do expect higher quality than what these devs have shown before, though, just because of how long the DLC has been in development and how unique it looks, I just hope they lean into that uniqueness as much as OE did!
I have no idea what to expect when Side Order releases, and that's what's keeping my interest in it so high. It's been nearly a year since Side Order was first announced, and now we have an official release date for it. Hype!

I think what's helped me being able to play Splatoon 3 almost everyday has been the simple fact that I have people to play and talk about it with. I'm part of a team that I absolutely love and it makes playing Splatoon for me a heck of a lot more fun! We're all very excited for Side Order too

I wonder what we get for "completing" this DLC. I doubt we'll get another playable species, so I'm guessing we'll just get the ability to change our hair tips and fingertips colors
Im really looking forward to this dlc, and whatever twists and turns they may have for us :D
My theory is that agent 4 is going to be some kind of fake out villain or right hand man for the real bad guy, but then team up with 8 at the very end. And if the player has played splatoon 2 + Octo expansion, both Agent 8 and 4 will look like the agent you played as in that game :D (or even just as the default option).

It would make a cool reward similar to how we got to play as a octoling in splatoon 2. They can’t make it the same since they are already playable in splatoon 3. Never completed any singleplayer experience of Splatoon, including Octo Expansion.
Shame on me but I always felt like the multiplayer is where its at.
Still, I'd be happy about a game with a manageable difficulty that also works in handheld mode for when I'm on the train or bus.

I don’t want to be that guy, but I’m a little concerned for Side Order. I don’t think Nintendo has much experience with rougelikes, which can be notoriously hard to balance in terms of single player content. I’ve also heard some rumors of supposed review copies, and while I’m cautious to believe things with little to no evidence, the supposed leaks of the reactions aren’t promising.
I want to reiterate - take all this with a grain of salt. I’m really hoping these overly paranoid thoughts are just that. I’ve put just short of 1,000 hours into Splatoon 3 alone, and Side Order has probably been my most anticipated release since the base game’s launch. But I can’t get rid of those feelings, especially remembering how even Splatoon 3’s lackluster launch was planned for a _year and a half earlier_ than what actually happened.
The lack of knowledge we have about the DLC probably doesn't help with the anxiety but I have hope. Splatoon was a completely new take on shooters that worked so maybe Nintendo's spin on roguelikes will too. 🤞

honestly as a fan of the rougelike genre side order being a rougelite mode is getting me hyped for it
Splatoon 3 is pretty weird for me. I like watching others play it, for hours and hours on end even. It's just that when I play it, it feels really eh. I was on the floor screaming and crying when it got announced but I really only see myself playing every splatfest, big run, or new patch. I played Splatoon 2 for 2,300-2,500 hours in only 2 years, so maybe that's why? I also do KINDA prefer Splatoon 2 rather than 3 KINDA but maybe that's because it was my first Splatoon game. I HOPE that since I like Splatoon 2 more than 3, I'll get back into it with side order.

I'm eagerly waiting for Side Order. I've been drifting away because of the cursed splatfests and also because the game's been a bit boring lately. It's gotten to the point where I'm close to becoming more interested in the splatoon clone releasing soon than actual splatoon itself... I hope Side Order is worth the year that they made us wait! As someone who was on team Order, it's gonna be interesting to see what wouldve happened if we'd won!
I think side order should release different story modes of every character. Like 1 month we get a story of agent 8 and another month pearl or smth. It'll give what most of the community wants and make more gameplay time because honestly do you expect them to release 12 different story modes in one dlc if it took 4 years for one?

You know the thing that I'm assuming is the final boss for the side order DLC shown in the trailer looks like GLaDOS from the portal series don't believe me just take a look at the two and comparisons sure they wouldn't look exactly like each other but they look very similar
I have mostly given up on splatoon sadly despite it still being one of my favourite video games but side order yeah i can smell obsession coming especially as hades has given me a like for rougelike despite how annoying it can be

Man, I'm in the group of mfs who played Splatoon through they teenage years and now only rlly play once a week/during a splatfest due to college work taking up my entire week. If I could play it more I would, but it's just feasibly impossible for me to play it as much.
I wonder if levels will be random but some levels are guaranteed to always be the same which will probably be the boss levels if there are any
Side Order would not really save the game, it will just awake interest again, but once they played it through, they will stop playing again until the next huge thing happens like the last splatfest or something.
There's definitely gonna be some people who won't stay long after Side Order releases but I still believe a good chunk will. Time will tell.

honestly i dont even play splatfests anymore. i played 500 hours within the course of like 3 months, and burned myself out (like 5 hrs a day)

Im unfortunately a in-between group,where as id like to play splat 3 more to get my former pride back from splatoon 2 but unfortunately due to my job,family and etc. I unfortunately can't commit to gaming as much anymore and it's not just with splatoon but it's with other games like pokemon,gta online and call of duty 2 or 3

I dont think the title of this video is very accurate, while yes dont get me wrong Side order WILL bring hype/ people back it does nothing for the actual base game. Multiplayer will still be a jumbled mess of bad maps and matchmaking, casuals will still have nothing to do in the game asides from turf and salmon run (no one cares about table turf we aint counting that) and updates are still probably going to be mid. Unless Nintendo plans on bringing side order content over to multiplayer somehow (and no im not just talking about weapon skins) it'll bring people back, sure, but its only temporary. If anything If this works the way its being described i could see it hurting multiplayer since people would just be playing side order instead, it'd be how like multiplayer and salmon run are two separate fan bases... sure the majority would play both but there are a good amount of people who refuse to touch the other and just stick to their side.
