It sucks that it's such a common ingredient. Are you also affected by butylene glycol? I feel like my skin is sensitive, not necessarily allergic, to a lot of things. I try my best to avoid potential triggers.
@@DoctorAnne Not always. I feel it started after I introduced new products into my regimen. Before that I used just cetaphil for close to 10 years, maybe longer. Of course I noticed the spf moisturizer did give my skin a burning sensation but I don't remember redness being much of an issue. I have been trying out products marketed for sensitive skin, to try and build a new regimen. But I usually avoid added fragrance and essential oils.
Thanks for sharing your review. I hv the same skin issue and had been looking at this. I don’t know what to do. PSA have another supposedly hydrating salicylic acid with multiple ingredients . Have you ever tried higher dose azeliac acid with tretinoin?
I couldn’t tolerate 15% azelaic acid alone personally. Extremely drying for me. Personally, couldn’t imagine using it with tretinoin but many people find azelaic acid isn’t irritating
@@DoctorAnne I bought the brightly serum and the product crystalized ( I tried using it but it irritated my skin)I messaged them asking for a refund, at first they offered to send a replacement and i was fine with that but then they emailed me again and told me that because if weather changes the azeliac acid gets crystalized and if i put it in warm water it should be good again, i did that ( even tho it’s a50$ product and I shouldn’t be putting it in warm water in order to work) and nothing happened, so I emailed them back and didn’t get a response and there’s no statement in the website that the brightly serum consistency changes during weather changes for people to know before buying, and I tried leaving a negative review but it didn’t show on the website
I have this, I love it. Personally, it works so well with my skin (I have dry skin). I use it as a spot treatment at night, whenever I have a pimple and honestly it really does decrease the size of that unholy beast.
Interesting product, great ingredients, I follow Dr Sam and trust her advise as I trust yours Dr Anne, fortunately I don’t get any breakouts post menopause, I guess that’s one up side of this stage of life 😁 my dermatologist is also a Dr Anne, I’m using mandelic acid once a week on my mature sensitive reactive previously dry and dehydrated but now more combination/dry skin as per dermatologist advise and I’ve never had any issues with irritation, she did say up to twice a week if tolerated, I use at night and don’t use retinol on those nights…to add this is post her sorting out my very compromised skin barrier with under the mask eczema. Also although I haven’t tried it, but a younger friend who suffers from hormonal breakouts, loves Azclear products I believe this is an Australian brand and apparently it’s very inexpensive and available at pharmacy’s, it contains Azelaic Acid at a higher % but she states no irritation at all. Following from South Australia…..Sue
I only tried one Mandelic Acid product yet, the 5% Toner by wishtrend, and found it really gentle too. And no, I haven't tried any Azeclar products, I need to see if they are available here in Germany.
@@DoctorAnne I’m using The Ordinary Mandelic Acid (which was what my dermatologist suggested) its more about being gentle enough for me but this has been fine and it has a slightly oily consistency so feels hydrating

If you have melasma, your best bet would be to see a dermatologist in person for a treatment plan specific to your needs. I can offer building a skincare routine, but just for skincare, not for skin conditions and their treatment. And not for free as that is a lot of work.
Hello Doctor. Always lovely content. I've been on tretinoin for over a year and I tolerate it perfectly now used every other night. My only question is: can I mix it with peptides, copper peptides and human derived growth factors? I only use mild acids and antioxidants during the day and more pH neutral products at night. I am just worried tretinoin might hinder the efficacy and stability of all these peptides. Thanks.
Peptides aren't a problem, copper peptides shouldn't be mixed with Tretinoin. And Growth Factors shouldn't be a problem either. I do use my copper peptides on non-tretinoin nights though.
@@DoctorAnne ok thanks I'll use copper peptides (buffet And niod) when I don't use tretjnoin but all of my other peptides and egf serums and creams I can use every night then.
I like squalane in products. Don’t really suffer from acne other than some tiny white heads from tretinoin irritation. I used to always have acne on my chin before I started doing skincare: like one spot would come up and by the time it was gone another would be somewhere else. Never more than 2 or 3
@@DoctorAnne it was very frustrating. Bought Eucerin’s 5% Urea Rich Face Cream today because my skin has been dry. Also the 10% body lotion but I may get Amlactin from america since every derm seems to hype that. My most recent commitment to treating body KP and it might work since I have been doing it as a distraction. Honestly, the 10% body lotion seems more tolerable and I might use that on my face instead. I would call the cream a balm bordering on petrolatum thick
@@DoctorAnne I have been so over the top with body skincare for the past week. I have products I need to use up. So, I am using for the KP 8% AHA (4% glycolic and 4% lactic), 2% salicylic acid, 10% urea, and occasionally adapalene. I also use Aveeno after shower spray and an “aloe” gel which is more of a humectant product with aloe extract. What do you do if a skincare product doesn't work like you expected?
It’s so frustrating that so many otherwise exciting products have propylene glycol. I’m allergic to it, so I can’t even try this.
