I'm usually the guy putting time stamps I'm the comments, but since you already got it covered, I'll just leave my obligatory comment where I appreciate the appreciation ! Lana Supremacy, for sure. 😊
technically it is her debut album but before this one she released an album as lizzy grant, elizabeth grant is her actual name. i think i was 18 when this was released it was really intense and became since then still one if my favourite albums. it is a super influential album for many younger artists we have today but it was never well received by critics. and people started speculating if she was even doing her music herself or if shes an industry plant. this also becomes a topic sometimes in her other albums. i think its really impressive that it doesnt sound much outdated for a 15 years old album. would love you to check out more, the paradise EP is definitely good, Ultraviolence is the next album it was a bit of a grower for me but i really appreciate it now. norman fucking rockwell is a really really good slbum, for me my 2nd fav directly after her most recent one. Ocean blvd is for sure my fav album of all times, great production sometimes exhaustingly sad but just beautiful. definitely check these out!
1:15:06 To me what makes Lana del Rey truly different from a lot of the female artist in the music industry is that she truly makes art, like an example is her voice she can truly take you to the places or scenarios thats she’s singing about in her music, and also at least to me is that her music doesn’t sound outdated at all especially for the time that it was released, like an album from 2011/2012 can sound good because of the nostalgic feeling that it has but after like a 3rd listen you can really tell why it only sounds good when you’re feeling nostalgic, because it takes you to the time of its release and you realize you can’t take this to 2025 because the sound of the album sounds generic or outdated that it would get boring or forgotten if released in 2025, a great example is Katy Perry her new album sound like if you told ai to make a generic early 2010s pop album and that’s why it flopped , but when it comes to Lana’s multiples albums released in the 2010s none of them give you that feeling because they truly sound good , like her 4th/3rd album Honeymoon is going to be 10 years old this year and it doesn’t sound bad at all, another example is Born to die it came out in 2012 and yet its still in billboards top 200 since its release, and i feel like the reason why her music still is popular and it will always sound good is because she’s always ahead of her time, like Lana released born to die a hip hop sound inspired album with very very deep lyrics in the early 2010s a time when edm, club and pop where truly the way and the mainstream sound for many female pop stars and the hip hop pop sound inspired albums truly gained more popularity like after 2015 and by 2015 Lana already moved on from that sound and was doing her own thing that ended up being ahead of time, another example is her lyrics the way she writes her music, Lana truly understands emotions, topics and experience’s and her lyrics show it a great example is her album ocean blvd like trust me when u listen to that album if u have ever experienced any of the topics/situations that she sings about it will crush you especially the first song “The Grants”, another reason why she’s great is that she doesn’t make music to be number 1 on the charts, she creates music that will naturally be loved by many and will later on be recognized for how good it is. But yeah that’s my long ass rant abt Lana 😭😭😭😭 can’t wait for her new album this may. Btw great vid reaction.
Thank you for your in depth comment! I love learning more about these artists while I dive into their music. I’m really looking forward to how her music evolves throughout her albums
Also it’s funny they you say that Lana should be in a Romeo and Juliet soundtrack because she actually sampled a melody from an old Romeo and Juliet movie in her song “old money” on ultraviolence!!
Born to die is an album that never gonna die. It’s on the charts for over a decade. Lana is so ahead of her generation and has been an inspiration for newer singers like Billie and even Taylor
There's a part in Million Dollar Man that to me sums up the whole vibe of the album. When she says "If you're going crazy just grab me and take me, I'd follow you down down down, anywhere". He's a narcissistic, and she's like a dog at her master's feet, offering herself as a willing victim for him to do whatever he wants with her. Also the line "I can be you china doll if you like to see me fall" from Without You. Again that idea of offering herself to a destructive man. And then in Dark Paradise and Born to Die, this Shakespearean idea of loving someone so much, that if that person dies she would rather be dead too than keep on living without him. This idea of loving beyond death. And in Lucky Ones, when she says "Every now and then the stars align, boy and girl meet by the great design, could it be that you and me are the lucky ones?" for some reason I imagine her saying that right before killing herself with him, I mean, committing suicide together. Like they do in her Born to Die video. There's an image on the internet of Mickey Mouse and Minnie committing suicide together and I think of that image when I hear Lucky Ones. Because her idea of love is dying together. So tragic and toxic. I love it. It reminds me of the relationship between Frank and Julia in the movie Hellraiser. Lana is Julia and the guy is Frank 100%
Loved this reaction!!! Subscribing for more Lana, would LOVE if you continued on with her discography in order- it’s amazing to watch/hear her progression. I think one of the thing that strikes me the most is how daring and unafraid she is to take risks. She really pushes and explores in a way very few artists do. All of her albums are distinct and there are some very different sounds yet it always has that signature Lana sound that only she has.
In carmen it was french she said, My love I know that you love me too You need me you need me in your life You can't live without me And I would die without you, I would kill for you
hope you're ready enough to react to her album after this one, co'z that one is wayyyy sad, darker and literally violence themes. react to Utraviolence when you get time to
Pls do a deep dive on Lana, I recommend listening to the albums in order, the next one (ultravionce) is quite different from btd, you talked about improvisation, on this album there are a lot of parts that she Improvised on the spot, like the bridge of, pretty when you cry, Each of her albums has a different sound, this one is more psychedelic rock, I'm following to see more Lana.🔥🔥🔥🖤🖤🖤
Hello Mr. Rudd. ‘ve missed you friend. Hope all is well. Sadly I’m not home and can’t watch the video right now, but I will as soon as I get home! Just leaving a comment for now
Now I am sure you will see how iconic she became from born die (2012) to ocean blvd (2023) every album she released (10 albums) has its own identity ❤️
Hi Dean! I loved your reaction im just gonna drop some thing to make your Lana journey more enjoyable; First things first; Lana usually writes about personal and fictional things weaved together, usually references to the modern culture but with a vintage aesthetic, she has an amazing range and she likes to tone switch a lot, is more evident in her early work but she still does it Second; Is better to enjoy her work chronologically, so next would be Paradise EP; after used as an extension to BTD, then Ultraviolence (IMPORTANT: there are two Deluxe tracks that are not available in every country those being “Is This Happiness?” and “Flipside” I recommend you to add those two songs in your UV reaction, they add a little but more to it, you’re gonna se the tracklist in Genius tho. You’re gonna see how evident her artistic growth is; an amazing artist with a complicated early life and a beautiful mind. And lastly; she was doing music since 2006, recorded an album called “Sirens”, by the name of May Jayler. Then in 2010 she did another album called “Lizzy Grant a.k.a. Lana Del Ray”, she also has 200+ unreleased songs, my girl works her ass off, but anyways I hope you can read this, you have a new subscriber for SURE.
42:22 YESS, Cinnamon is not sweet. The lyric is saying that being on the radio did NOT necessarily give her the perfect life she’d expect. She is saying her life is not so sweet. And the line that follows is completely sarcastic-the “fucking” is well placed to illustrate the sarcasm. Like “yeah what a fucking dream I’m living.” Or at least, this is what I interpreted
you should do "When the pawn..." by Fiona Apple next!! sooo many artists say they were inspired by her (including Taylor Swift, Kendrick, Kanye, Lana del Rey, Frank Ocean, ect...)
note: Lana did philosophy(metaphysics), and she really liked to read, so she has a lot of references. Also, she has problem with alchool at 15, so her mother send her to a boarding school and they never got a proper relationship again.
You should react to 'Born to Die' the paradise edition. It has more songs on there to listen too & react too ! Cant wait for you to react to more Lana ❤
I was 17 when this album came out, and it was a total game-changer. It was so fresh and innovative, it completely redefined my taste in music. This wasn't your typical pop album; it was groundbreaking. It's amazing how it still sounds so current, and that's because it revolutionized contemporary music. So much of today's pop is influenced by it, directly or indirectly. Without Lana, many artists wouldn't have had a mainstream platform. It was a truly formative experience for me.
what you're saying at 53 mins is exactly what youll get through your lana journey, every album has its own sound while still remaining uniquely lana. she has a lot of material about different topics, for example lust for life is a political album, etc. she also shows off just how insane her voice is and changes it a lot throughout the albums.
The way she calls her man's exes "bitches" in the song Blue jeans shows how much she dedicates herself to that man, This is something no other female artist would do and that's what's crazy about lana, she can express herself in any form and it's so poetic. Also all the songs from Born to die have a hip hop reference or influence to them which is so cool!!!
"Quick, quick Tell me something awful Like you are a poet trapped inside the body of a finance guy." Everyone has a Taylor lyric that is super specifically relatable to them.
Please react to her full discography! Is THE Lana Del Rey, one of the most amazing artists to ever exist, so unique and interesting. 🙌🏻 loved your reaction to the iconic BORN TO DIE 👌🏻
cool reaction 💖 i really like that you pay attention to the lyrics! i recommend you listen to twenty one pilots "car radio" and other songs, lyrics mind blowing 🤯🤯 and of course, we are waiting for more Lana 🔥

Summertime Sadness its about a friend of her that died, and she misses.
True, her best friend and k... herself :(
omg I didn't know this 😢
love the "mind movie" descriptions at the start of the songs. its a unique feature that sets your channel apart from others
Also it’s funny they you say that Lana should be in a Romeo and Juliet soundtrack because she actually sampled a melody from an old Romeo and Juliet movie in her song “old money” on ultraviolence!!
Oooo I’m excited for that!
it was an accident tho. but yeah she did eventually credited the people behind the Romeo and Juliet after it was recognized by her Label
Born to die is an album that never gonna die. It’s on the charts for over a decade. Lana is so ahead of her generation and has been an inspiration for newer singers like Billie and even Taylor
This is the most played album in my spotify
I can see how it would be the most played for many!

I loved your reaction ❤. We need more Lana, next one should be The BTD Paradise Deluxe Edition, includes the EP with 9 songs, you're gonna love it 😊
Hi Dean! I loved your reaction im just gonna drop some thing to make your Lana journey more enjoyable;
First things first; Lana usually writes about personal and fictional things weaved together, usually references to the modern culture but with a vintage aesthetic, she has an amazing range and she likes to tone switch a lot, is more evident in her early work but she still does it

I also love how she swears while singing about being on the radio lmao
I think you will love ''did you know there's a tunnel under ocean blvd ''and ''Norman Fucking Rockwell! '', they are my favorite albums from Lana.
I’m very much looking forward to them!
you should do "When the pawn..." by Fiona Apple next!! sooo many artists say they were inspired by her (including Taylor Swift, Kendrick, Kanye, Lana del Rey, Frank Ocean, ect...)
Interesting! I’ll definitely look into that

“light of my life, fire of my loins” is the opening line of lolita by vladimir nabokov which is where lana got the lyric from :]
