Kasparas is just a fun basketball player to watch - and as you guys mentioned , he carries himself as the alpha. All that combined with some of that euro flair, indeed will be the best player on the team . A lot of fun storylines to see this season with a lot of guys with high upside . Will be a fun watch
2004-2005 Illini, #1 in final AP poll, had three guards who were top three on the team in assists and in scoring: Dee Brown, Luther Head, Deron Williams.
Illinois is getting better as a program. You recruit good players when that happens and multiple of them. It is what it is, fellas. Welcome to the show.
I believe Boswell is being asked to play at a different pace then he was at Arizona. That was part of the recruiting pitch that Underwood had for him. This is why the adjustment process needs to happen in the summer, and quickly.
Idk about that, both Arizona and Illinois played uptempo basketball, the thing is Kylan wasn't the feature point guard, I think the pitch was him being in Caleb Love's position and coming home. Even tho I think JK might end up being the feature guy handling the rock
@@PatchesOhoulihan159 Bos was definitely the main point guard at Arizona. Caleb(and others) brought the ball up the court sometimes, the the offense ran through Bos more often than not. I think he's just getting used to a new system and we're a couple weeks into practice. As long as he stays focused he will be just fine once the season comes around.
Greg likes to dig for potential problems. All that's happening is BU is playing this new college basketball roster game beautifully. You're saying, "Oh, Brad is worried Player A isn't as good as he hoped, so he's recruiting Player B." No. No, no, no. BU is recruiting the best players he possibly can get, year over year, and if Player B causes Player A to leave, BU's position is, "So be it. Fair enough. We wish you well going forward, whether you become Adam Miller or Brandin Podziemski. We'll just keep going after great players." How are you not seeing this, as the guy who has named Brad as his father?
This is why people think Illini fans are so full of themselves... Thinking Brad is infallible and always makes the right decisions, going after the "best players",,, Podziemski was the best pro player (as he is currently in the NBA) and Brad played Curbelo, Frazier, Plummer,,, heck even Austin Hutcherson and Luke Goode played more minutes that 2021-22 season... Don't be afraid to call a spade a spade and admit the coach isn't right all the time😂
Carter is correct. Humrichous will be a starter all year, and if needed at and end of games he’ll be in too. Other guy is wrong. Ben will be huge for Illini this year. Here’s why: his shot is maybe the best on team, including 3 point where he shot over 40% last season; he can get a bucket at high percentage by booty ball almost at will or as asked (which is always needed, like at end of games); his passing is incredible; his rebounding solid; his IQ basketball awareness on court reminds me of Larry Bird type presence; he is has EXPERIENCE! You will be very surprised “other guy” but I won’t be. Sorry just can’t remember name .. no disrespect because I like both of you. You’re just wrong on this in a big way. Hey! I’m wrong once in awhile, too. We all are. Mark my words and get back to me after you see him play in a game. Oh .. in addition .. what a nice kid. A great teammate stated by players he played with. Underwood loves this guy. I do too. 👍
Never any problems ever... "Brad Underwood is infallible and can never make any mistakes" 🤡... This is why other big ten fans think Illini fans are full of themselves
News from practice last year was that DGL was 1 of the most talented offensive players on a team that led the natoon in offensive efficiency. No surprise he's picking up from there or that Bos may not look as good yet. Booty ball absolutely still has its place. Teams learn to defend predictable teams, so the ability to switch gears will prove invaluable. Just like it did last year when Domask had his 30+ pt games. Or when Dainja zone won a couple games for UI with good ole fashion feed the post ball. In regards to recruiting, I wouldn't read too much into the positions of the guys being recruited. Like the NFL draft, a wise strategy is recruit best available. Overall, I'm not sure why UI fans would give a negative reaction to your info which pretty much matches what insiders are saying.
Not too worried about Boswell struggling. More than likely most scrimmages had Kasparas and Boswell going head to head. And Boswell being the primary initiator. In season I see those two starting next to each other. Which just means Boswell will be more of the 2 guard than the lead guard. And I always like Boswell off the catch anyways. It will be interesting to see who leads the second unit. Maybe DGL has creeped into the conversation there. If Ivisic starts. I could see going to a DGL and Morez line exchange and looking to push the pace a little. Morez being a little more willing to run rim to rim than Ivisic. Tre white I think would also benefit from that increased pace. Where Humrichous, Ivisic probably move the needle for the offense more in the halfcourt. I could kind of see a rotation forming in that sense.
You guys are starting to catch up to where Illinois fans have been for a little while. Without actually saying it, you're essentially realizing that, yes, this is clearly, beyond any doubt, BU's best roster top-to-bottom. And the video we all saw which you're referring to was without two of this team's likely starters. So just say it already. It doesn't mean this will be BU's best team. They're two different things. But anyone who's been paying attention knows this is the most stacked roster at Illinois in decades. Maybe ever. And it guarantees nothing, let's be very clear about that.
DGL is going to be the man. Im not sure why ppl would have ever been down on him. In his limited playing time last yr on a great team he was great in his role.
Regarding the final 10 minutes about a problem that is a year away; is competition a good thing or bad thing? How’s that old saying go about iron and iron….
@gregoryhelton2408 I don't think that's the case, he's made the decision late to reclassify and Brad told him there won't be any real minutes for him this upcoming season so he decided to decommit. I completely understand his decision and im cool with it. I wish him the best
@@PatchesOhoulihan159One correction, I don't think there's any scholarships remaining after Riley's commitment. Wouldn't matter whether Underwood intended to play him or not, unfortunately.
"we have Boswell who looks bad" Yeah, we'll see about that one, wow. What a take based on the amount of time he's been on campus. I think you'll be changing your tune on this one in a few months. He's already in the best shape of his life, getting even more conditioned and developing chemistry with his new teammates. The team isn't even fully on campus so a long way to go here. The team is stacked with talent so there'll naturally be some adjustment time while it's blending during practice. I really enjoy listening to you guys and your perspectives but the seemingly complete fabrication and projections of issues is just laughable at times. With all due respect, sometimes you 2 can spin a line of bs about your psychic feelings on potential issues like I've never seen. But, it's great drama, I'll give you that. If the illini need a soap opera then they have a writing staff ready made ( not all the time to be fair, but good God it's bad at times). The illini will be fine on talent, chemistry and coaching so the best thing to do is wait for more data is available. The clips are impressive and do show how many good players are already there as an incomplete team, but it was only a couple minutes. Keep up the good work beyond the drama projections though 😂 , i think its great other than that. It almost feels like you're trying to brew up and manifest the bs through sheer belief and ignorance hahaha
I think as a basketball content media channel they should feel free to talk about whatever they want to! It’s their channel. You don’t have to listen. I think it’s refreshing not hearing solely from Illinois fans sometimes. And fears decommitted. So a lot of projections they say actually come to fruition.
Do these Illinois sources realize they just had a player up one of the best individual seasons in program history? And another guy that was 1st team all Big 10? They also had 2 first team All Americans within the past few years. Kasparas is projecting better than these guys because he’s wrecking scrubs in practice? I have no trouble believing the guy looks good, but it’s a bit sensationalist to project him so high without some real game play.

If KJ is as good as people are saying, he won’t be here next year. He’ll be drafted. DGL is a 2, not a PG.
Kj is as of right now projected 17th pick next yr and Will Riley is projected 22nd
There are no problems. Kylan will be fine. Riley is going to be special too.
