  • While I work tirelessly behind the scenes attempting to locate Draco Dinkleberg's almost impossible image, you folks can enjoy this offering in which I tackle another run of seemingly gettable snaps. We start with Flynn Thistles desert obelisk before attempting to locate the 70's space age looking pyramid in Ginger Passion's photo.

It could be saying "this is the northern side of the monument" or, "if you can see this, you're looking northward".
I've noticed that Tom never seems to look at shadows though; he always goes straight for the sun itself, even if the whole sky is overexposed and pure white.
I think it's his explorer blood. If you're on a ship of exploration, traversing a sea of exploration and you look out to said sea, as one must, in order to explore it, there are no trees or obelisks to cast a shadow. Not one. You have to be prepared. You have to cast your eye toward the sun, no matter how overexposed the sky is. If not for this instinct, forget about America, we wouldn't even have discovered the sun!

I'm "Harry Bogswirler" (love the name there, Tom), and yes, he was indeed correct with the Goodwood Motor Circuit, though the photo was taken a lot more recently than Tom thought - May 2019, to be exact, at the 'Retro Rides Weekender' car show. Cars attending the show did parade laps around the circuit, but between those sessions, the start/finish straight of the track was open to walk along, so I felt it was an ideal photo opportunity. N.B the item in the Asda bag was actually a 1:24 scale Renault 5 Turbo 2 I bought at one of the stalls present at the show. The Goodwood Festival of Speed takes place in the grounds of Goodwood House, but the Revival, Members meeting and RR Weekender take place at the Motor Circuit.

I’m so glad I found your channel. I have severe insomnia and your voice is so soothing and steady that it actually helps me fall asleep on the worst nights. Thank you for that! Especially because you’re videos are great to watch and so interesting when I’m actually awake and not trying to sleep!
Looking forward to your next one, thanks for the great entertainment.

Flynn Thistle here. First of all well done, you found us at Black Mesa. Secondly, I can confirm we are indeed on the South West side of the monument. Just like all the rest have pointed out, slightly surprised you didn't work that out using the compass, but I'm happy to be part of a record time, nonetheless.
With THAT said, as promised Sir Tom, I'll upgrade my Patreon tier a level since you found us. Admittedly, had I have known in the beginning that you would have had google at your disposal for this challenge, I definitely would have made it more tough! You see, I envisioned you using the mileage and directions to pinpoint our location, but alas was still fun to be a (quick) part of one of your videos.
    Cheers my friend. :)
P.S. My buddy and I are soon looking to destroy your straight line record using the new scoring system. Not gonna leak any deets just yet, but know its coming! You've been warned.

British English doesn't have the same Spanish influence as American English. You'd be hard-pressed to find people familiar with the word "mesa" in the UK, and any comparable geographical features in the UK would be referred to be a different name, even if it was a perfect example of a mesa.

Tom, you could use the perspective lines from the buildings and find where they converge on the horizon (vanishing points); this will let you lay down a perspective grid to better calculate where the landmarks are in 3d space. Drawing lines over photos can be deceiving because of lens distortion and other things
