In a corporate slasher case, I only had fingerprint data + Hair colour/shape to work with. Checked the surveillance to only find out that there were no cameras for the murder floor and the ground floor as well. Spent well over 2 hours on it before closing the case.
Im sorry bro, similar thing happened to me. Only eye color and the building they work in, and their SO was a shopkeeper. So little detail, my caseboard got up to at least 30 suspects, crossed out like 5 because the details are so vague you cant really be sure until you sneak into every apartment and discover their marital status. I just gave up.
If that makes you feel better, which i highly doubt - 90% of people would say "nah, screw this" when seening so little evidence. Your attempt deserves respect.
I got a arrest case from a board and all the information was given is they had blue eyes and liked music. Yeah, thanks, in a city of I assume upwards of 500 npcs on the largest map, If they add like clubs or a music store then maybe it would be possible, or if I spent a weeks worth of time cataloguing everyone's eyes then finding out who likes music. My favorite non murder case was getting a first name initial and I forget what other information and for that I got a phone book and found everyone with a first name that starts with d and did a door to door campaign.
No, there always will be a surveillance room for every building, for some office/apartment buildings, its harder to find, because it could be either in the basement or somewhere in the floors where the offices are located and you cant tell if they are the office surveillance or the entire building’s. Ive had one where the surveillance room is on the 5th floor of the building, the last floor where there are offices. So you really just gotta look.
@seqile2857 I have a building with cameras on the apartment floors. I have gone through all 15 floors, no security room. The ground floor has two security rooms, one for the restaurant to the right, one for the sync clinic to the left. Basement has 3 rooms that have the phone switch thing, but no security room. Bottom floor is flooded and there are no separate rooms, they're all just empty. Where else, praytell, do I look?
I’m like actually going crazy. My first murder was at a large building with 16 or 17 floors. The dude was killed on the 15th, there were no cameras past the 9th so I can’t narrow it down much. The victim had a roommate I found literally all information on besides voice id, and couldn’t actually find them anywhere, I looked at cameras of locations she went to, nope not caught on camera. She was the only other person who had dna/evidence against her in the apartment that victim was killed in. So I had no other leads, I just said screw it and claim she’s killer, nope she wasn’t. I guess I can try the landlord maybe, unless the game is purely random for who the killer is.
Another thing you can try is to ask neighbors of the victim or people in the same building if they have seen anything suspicious. They may reveal a trait of the killer, like "tall" or "blonde hair". That you can then use to narrow it down.
Also if it’s one of those let’s play a game murderers you can try looking at black markets or weapon stores and you might see a person buy a murder weapon that matches the amount of words in the note
I also found a knife wound on my victim, is the poisoning a red herring? I ended up finding a syringe in the first victims apt and even the newspaper state its a poisoning.
wounds can be different from causes of death i.e they can be shot but also slashed to death, the document where it says the cause of death is the actual one so in your case it is a poisoning they were just stabbed at some point as well, would be cool if that was the case though
I had a case where there was little evidence. Surveillance footage didn't help because the killer wasn't at the scene. Murderer shot the victim from the other building. The reason was that the killer was distracted by the light of the murdered peoples
I had a case where a woman was stalking people and eventually killing them. I scavenged the crime scene and instantly found a fingerprint on the vics safe then I found a note of a tall, large built woman so I had a brief description. I checked out the security but it lead to a dead end. I saw someone suspicious running and tried to investigate them until a second murder happened of which had "Inami and K forever" written on the wall very brokenly but then I learned that the second victim was killed via poison and that the stalker had brown hair, with that info I took to the City directory and scuffed through everyone whose first name began with K which lead me to someone living on the 17th floor of which I bribed them to let me investigate of which I took the initiative and handcuffed her once I realized she lived alone, I immediately searched her and found none other than the poison, I then broke the window and leaped out (I had vigor installed) and turned n my case. The case unfortunately didn't like that the proof of the killer being there was finger prints so I didn't ace the case
What about buildings with no surveillance cameras. My first murder case first body was in the street no cameras second body in an apartment with cameras but no surveillance room to monitor them and I have nothing but a print on a business card that doesn't belong to the victim and a boot size of a bloody shoe
Talk to people, starting with those nearby or the neighbors, ask if they saw anything suspicious. People who saw the killer will say they saw a suspicious person at (where body was found) at (time somewhere in between the estimated time of death) and the person is (a trait, e.g. tall, or muscular build). Make a note of who tells you this information, you will want to come back to them (if you right click and inspect someone, you can pin them to your board then ask their neighbour to name them to track them later). When you have a trait and a rough time, start checking nearby surveillance cameras for people a few hours before to a few hours after the time, click on their picture, press F to view their profile to check their traits. Pin any people with matching traits to your investigation board. If there's no match on camera, go further away from the crime scene, ask random people if they saw anything suspicious. It they say they saw (person with matching trait) but at a different time and place, go there and check any nearby cameras. Or go to the victim's workplace and get any employees that have matching traits. When you have a few unknown persons with a matching trait on your board, go back to the person who saw the suspicious person (or you can just go back to the crime scene and ask anyone nearby, if another person who tells you the same time and trait that very first person did, it's good enough). Ask them if they know the person with a matching trait. If they say "I saw them at (time) and (place) and they looked (mad/upset)" which matches what they say about the suspicious person, that's the killer. Then you just go shoving the killer's picture at the victims co workers or at random people until someone says they saw that person near (place), then go there and ask, eventually someone will give you their name or a better location to ask. It sounds really arduous but when you get the hang of it, you can nail killers really quickly without using fingerprints at all, which is really fun imo. I haven't seen anyone lie or tell me an incorrect trait except when they've seen the killer from the last case but didn't see the current killer. Go with the trait from a witness that nails the time of death. btw I pretty much ignore bloody shoe prints unless it's an apartment and I get there before the cops. Edit: oh yeah. All of the homeless people consider each other neighbours at the moment. If you have a lot of potential matches from street surveillance, ask the nearest homeless person if they recognise any matches. If they are neighbours, it's unlikely the match is the killer. Edit edit: public service announcement to buy lock pick kits to get 30 lock picks at a time, buy up heaps so you can hack everything without a care.
i'm still on a assassination case, which had two murders in the same building, the timeframe of the murder was the day before it was reported so all the camera footage is gone and no clues where left execpt a toy car and the writing new generation
0:41 camera way is a good one. Always look for cameras. But how would you solve a case without murder details. No time of death no murder weapon not even able to identify a body. Don’t touch it at all.
I had police officer get killed outside with absolutely no evidence except a note, I just gave up because I couldn’t find anything. Tried to look at all the names and records, even the gov database, but nothing.
In my lipstick case, the killer is non-binary, bald with average physic and average height. There is no trace of them on any of the cameras at victims' homes or work. The only thing I have is their fingerprints. I feel so lost
I also checked any stores that sell hammer and chef's knife(weapons of murder). In the utility store, there was a person who bought both but she had different fingerprints, so it's a wrong lead too. No way this is supposed to be like that. I literally know every person at their work and in their houses.
You can try 2 things: 1. Ask random npcs near the crime scene if they saw something suspicious. Even works for npcs that just live near the murder scene without having seen the killer. I think the way the game works, a killer will "attach" data about himself to nps that he passes when running away from the crime, even through walls. 2. Wait for the killer to kill again, then ask npcs, they will possibly reveal another clue. 3. You can also check surveillance by pressing F on the npc in the video to put its portrait into your case board, then you can check if it says "black hair".
Arrow keys works in surveilance app btw. Left and right - timeline, up and down - cameras.
Thanks, I didn't think of it.

Problem with surveillance strat is sometimes building have the restaurant and apartments connect and have the cameras only for restaurants.

So many tip videos on this game can be described in four words: "act like a detective"
I think this is a cool thing about this game it allows you to invent your own methods
Imagine if real detectives just checked camera footage of a specific area, didn't see anyone and were like "Guess it was natural" lol

Try asking people in the proximity about having seen something suspicious. If they saw the killer, they will usually tell you one trait.
