If your BMW not driving like the crisp cornering machine it used to? It's probably time for a new set of shocks. The factory BMW shocks typically only last about 80 or 100 thousand km before they wear out and start failing. Failed, leaking or lifeless old shocks make your BMW feel unsettled, cause uneven tire wear and can even be dangerous. Your BMW's shocks are a critical part of the suspension system, and should keep your tires planted on the road. If your shocks haven't been replaced in 100 000 or 160 000 km, you are definitely due for a new set.

My lower strut bolt thru-hole won't line up with the knuckle on the vehicle, it is about 2 inches lower when the top bolts are tightened. How can I get the lower hole to line up and bolt back together? Do I need a coil compressor to shrink the spring 2 inches? The control arm doesn't want to go down any more. I went with stock struts, not sport.
@@jac2o7 You need to push you knuckle down with your hands to line up those holes. Hold and push brake rotor down.
@@mikes.garage thanks, I ended up using a bottle Jack and some 2x4’s in the wheel wells to get enough downward pressure on it to line the holes up
Does the stock shock have a difference compared to the new one ( sport ) in lenght. Is it possible to put the sport spring on a stock shock for just lowering with oem parts ? Thank you !
Sport spring shorter but you can put it on stock shock it will fit.
Stock spring is around 390 mm and sport around 360. How much drop did you achive ?
question , i lowered my car , now i want to put stock back on , the rotor is sitting higher up now since i lowered it and i don’t have room to fit the old one , how do i drop it down ?
I didn't really understand what happened. What rotors? Brake discs?
@@mikes.garage yes , but i got it figured out i put a jack on my brake disc and it went down 5 inches , enough to get the old one in
would it be possible to put front and rear shock absorbers from another car on the bmw e60? What car could it work from?
I don't know if it's possible and I wouldn't recommend to do that.
Don't be cheap n senseless man
Do you have to use new bolts and nuts on shocks and control arms?
Of course better to use new bolts and nuts, but I reused old.
@@mikes.garage thank you I am doing my e60 this weekend I have leaking shocks and control arms
