Great Video Jordan. Thanks. I have a Master Temp 250 as well. It heats well for a few hours and then shuts off. Same time the water flow from the pool to the pump reduces significantly too. So much so that the skimmer basket floats on top. I have cleaned the lines and filter cartridges thoroughly. So there are no blockages. Also, when the heater is off, everything runs smoothly without any issues. Filter pressure reads 6 PSI before heater is started and 10 after heater is started. When heater shuts off on its own, filter pressure drops to 2. Not sure if heater shuts of due to the pressure drip or vice versa. Why would the pressure drop on its own? Especially given how smoothly everything runs when the heater is off. Any input from you will be highly appreciated. Thanks

Hey Prakash, thx for commenting. It’s funny because I kind of had a heater problem this year when we opened our pool. I wouldn’t get any error codes but it didn’t sound like the heater was kicking on full blast. U know what it sounds like when it’s burning. So I did some trouble shooting, replaces the igniter, it was the cheapest place to start. However, my pool was running. A day or so later, I noticed that the return jets to my pool weren’t very strong. So, I ran the heater until it said “Service” three I flipped the lid over and noticed that the “PS” LED was lit. Pressure Sensor”. Bottom line was, I needed a new pool pump. Replaced that and haven’t had any issues with the heater. The heater didn’t function properly because it wasn’t sensing enough pressure. Perhaps your pump is going?

@@jordanseverydaydiy4373 Thanks for your insight. I cleaned all filters and raise the pool water level as I think it was bit low. The heater and the pump both are running well for over 9 hours now. If it keeps running well, may be the low water level was the problem. Thanks again buddy.

Nice job. I tried to troubleshoot a friend’s but they decided to pay $145 for a service call. How quickly should the heater raise the temp from 72? It is a big electric heater. Thanks

Thx for watching. It really depends on a number of variables. Size of the pool, time the pump is running, ambient temp outside, number of skimmers, number of jets, pump size, pipe diameter, etc. you get the picture. We have a 35k gallon pool with 2 skimmers, a drain, and 4 inlet jets. If I let the pump run continuously, and say it’s 72 outside, it might take 18 hrs or so to get it to say 82. Also depends on the age and efficiency of the heater.

I have a mastertemp 250 as well. Just purchased from a previous owner. Its less than a year old. Heater Ignites and then shuts off after about 10-15 seconds. I switched the heater from Natural gas to Propane. I changed the Orifice and replaced with propane. Bought a regulator for propane. Any ideas what it could be? I have replaced the high limit switch and no luck.

Thx for watching Mr Jimmy. Man, u are asking something above my skill set. Do u have the owners manual? It sounds like most of the stuff u did would convert it, but there must be something else u haven’t done. Maybe a programming function?

Can you tell me why possibly the service light is turning on immediately for my minimax NT. The first 3 lights are on. The 4th green light is not turning on. Ty

Rm, I’m sorry I cannot. Im not familiar with that particular heater. Do you still have the owner’s manual? It might give you some troubleshooting tips or Google the issue, you might get an explanation or a resolution. Let me know.

Tell me about it. I own two houses with pools. In the last 10 years I’ve spent a fortune just on pool heater replacements and repairs and now another needs to be replaced again. I hate it.

my water temperature 80deg reads correctly on the display unit, but once I turn on the heater, the display temp continously rises to 102deg then shuts off within a minute. Whats wrong here?

Well, we m not a pool expert. But, to me I would look into the igniter . It sounds like that could be bad. It’s a really easy part to change, but u do have to remove the sides and top. After that, it’s 2 bolts. This senses temp and ignites the gas. Might be something to try. There is also on the underside of ur circuit panel, some small LED lights, when it shuts off, remove the top and see which one is lit. That will tell u if one of the sensors is bad.
