Young Martin’s Reels was created to honor my dad Martin B. Stivers of Louisville KY. He was an avid fisherman and repaired thousands of fishing reels in his lifetime. I spent numerous hours watching him do so, but I have forgotten most of what he taught me. Now that he is gone, and I find myself in need of reel repair, so I am learning how it is done and trying my best to pass it on.
If I can be of assistance, feel free to contact me Rick48cj2a@yahoo.com
I would also like to thank Dennis Kuntz of 2nd Chance Tackle. His videos have helped to fill in the gaps in my “reel” knowledge. Without his UA-cam videos I’m afraid Young Martin’s Reels would not exist.

Fantastic job you did cleaning and repairing the Okuma fishing reel. It looks much better and works like a charm as well. Great work.

George, I get a kick out of fixing up the old reels. Hopefully, someone will be able to use the video to get their Okuma up and running again. I’m glad you liked the video.

Fantastic job! Zooming in helps a great deal. My only thing I feel would also help Dennis is zooming in as you did on this video. 1000 percent better.

Neil, did you notice how much harder it was to keep the work in the frame. However, I do agree that if I can keep it in frame it makes for a better video.

Good job on this Okuma. I actually have an Okuma bait feeder that I got new in the box but have not used yet. It’s a 4000 size reel. - Chris

Chris, as you know, I enjoy taking the ones that won’t work and fixing them up to run again. Okuma seems to make good, affordable reels for the common fisherman.

Mario, how are you doing? I hope the kids liked the rods. I have 6 of your reels completed, and two others are too far gone for repairs. I should be making the video about your Baby next week. The new part has arrived and she should be up and running soon.
I’m glad you liked the Okuma video. I’m getting ready to leave for Calaveras now. I’m hoping to land a nice red today. Fish On.

@@youngmartinsreels5314 glad to hear the part is in. Can’t wait to see her up and running again. She’ll be able to handle those reds again. 😆
