I remember watching "Four Weddings and a Funeral" when it first came out, and this exquisite woman whom I'd never seen before appeared on the screen and utterly mesmerised with her subtle performance and beauty.
I love Prince, but this was one of his few mistakes this movie right here, he got the hiring of Kristin Scott Thomas right. But him firing the director because he wanted complete control, and he thought that he knew enough now to take over the role of being a director with making this movie and all. Well, he was wrong as this movie was a disaster, it was just not a good movie. He's brilliant at making music, but he should have left the movie making to the professionals until he had learned enough to make movies himself.
Under The Cherry Moon displays the genius that is Prince. The waft of Purple Rain was overshadowing his work. They were two separate projects. Everyone wanted a sequel. Love Under The Cherry Moon more every time I watch it!
No wonder she gonna get casted in the lead role ! She’s a BOMB !!! Let alone her eyes, the perfect fine facial traits, but the expression as well !!!! The SMILE !!! DROP DEAD x_x ! She’s wholly captivating.
This movie premiered in the not so glamorous location of Sheridan, Wyoming as a result of an MTV contest in which the winner, a twenty-two-year-old hotel chambermaid, won the privilege of having this movie premiere in her hometown. She was also escorted by Star and Director Prince, who sat with her in the theater and later had her as his special backstage guest at a concert after the premiere
Several guests on this show have worked with Prince. Just from this show's sample, I don't know if it's a common thing to work with Prince or it was the highlight of their career.
It is! About a year ago my local art house cinema had a screening of it and they gave out badges with “Wrecka Stow!” on. The audiences had a great time and a DJ played Prince songs after. One of the guys who works there is a big Prince fan and they have had a few Prince-themed nights since his death.
she is utterly gorgeous in Under the Cherry Moon, as she still is, and is in some of my fave films from Angels and Insects, surreal period art house to Four Weddings and a Funeral. She is great. not to mention Roman Polanski : Bitter Moon.
Four Weddings fan here as well. She has sooo much range... she has a side role in 2011's Salmon Fishing In Yemen and her bureaucratic character steals every scene she's in.
A friend and I got to see her in the theatre. Originally, we got the cheapest tickets and were sort of sitting in the highest, darkest, most hidden part of the theatre, behind a column, but were just happy to be there, breathe the same air and *maybe* hear her act. When we got to the theatre, we'd been upgraded and were sitting not four metres from the scene in one of the best rows (and most expensive). We fantasised about her being so awesome she *obviously* had seen our names and immediately got us to sit in the front rows because we were (and are) such big fans.
Been loving this lady since I re-discovered The English Patient, and binge watched her performances I managed to find. Especially loved her in I've Loved You So Long, Horse Whisperer, Sarah's Key, Leaving. Also good in comedic ones - Framed, Keeping Mum.. TV show Body and Soul and in live theatre, The Three Sisters. Her recent performances are all remarkable even though the movies are not. Her body of work deserves more recognition than what she had gotten. Damehood (for her contribution in arts) well deserved... that's all I say.
i am such a fan if hers, i will watch anything with her in, no matter what. i am amused at the other guests, they are perfect choices as foils for her story right now. graham norton is a brilliant interviewer, i think he must have known how perfect the set up is here, for the Prince story, to have other , younger, guests who would appreciate it. The others are absolutely riveted,in a way that other guests that Scott Thomas might normally be paired with, might not be so into her story, this is classic , to have the guests be a great audience as well. i will even watch Mission Impossible I in order to see her !
One of the most watchable "bad movies" ever. Just an insane movie with a tone that is all over the place and no plot whatsoever. Quite the watch, especially for Prince fans.
@@hawsrulebegin7768 its one of those movies where, if you understood Prince, and you get what he was going for, you "get it", otherwise it just looks like a plotless, badly written mess.
@@LordRaiden86 Loved it when it came out. But if we are honest with ourselves it wasn’t a great film. Something like sign of the times concert/movie was a much better realisation of the shambolic idea. For the masses it was never going to be a sequel to purple rain like people expected at the time. Black n white, no rock guitars and a very dandy comedic prince and a European tone. But it’s still fantastic for the images and the songs. Wry underrated album. The perfect link from around the world to sign o the times.
What an amazing woman! She is beautiful, articulate, funny, and so down to earth. I know I’m biased, but why are British older female actors so wonderful? Olivia Colman, Kristin Scott Thomas, the ladies from Last Tango in Halifax, Dame Judi Dench, Helen Mirren...I could go on and on and on...
I highly recommend "Only God Forgives" too - she's absolutely phenomenal in that, and it was great to see a very different side of her in a part that she's all too rarely given.

She's got such a screen presence. Mesmerizing indeed. Katherine in The English Patient!
He picked her because she was both drop dead gorgeous and classy as hell !
Absolutely 👍😊
She was perfectly cast for that part.
Still is.
She not classy at all

I actually “discovered” Kristin because I was obsessed with Prince and saw her on the Under the Cherry Moon movie. She is a stunner 😍
Me too she was stunning in that and I loved the film. Recka Staw. 😂

Sinead O’Connor has a whooper of a story about Prince in her recent autobiography.
