If It Wasn't For Sampling Alot Of Us In The Younger Generation (I'm Only 21) Wouldn’t Know About The Beautiful Music That Doesn’t Get It's Proper Reignition On The Radio These Days That's Why Alot Of Soul Artist Migrate To The UK And Perform There They Love The Rare Soul Scene #LongLiveDilla
KING, You get it! There's so many gems out there that have not received any real recognition outside of our own community. I confess that this is the first time I've heard this song and my granddaughter is a year older than you! I was brought here by one of my groups in FB, and I'm OH so glad I did, I was very young when this came out so I wouldn't necessarily have remembered it. But it is awesome that the new generation is going back to the past to see where we are and where we're headed.
This is, to me, one of the greatest tragedies in life. Everytime I stumble upon a hidden gem like this lost in the sands of time, it makes me believe I'll die not having listened to so much amazing music. I wish I could listen to it all.
Dude you knew better than that 😂 But if you didn't I bet you started to!🤣🤣 Jerry Butler was THE MAN back in the day. I was only about five or six during his 60s heydey, but I heard "Only The Strong Survive" more times than a little bit. I loved Jerry's music and I didn't know why. But I heard it a lot. Now I'm nearing 60, and in the time of UA-cam I now understand what his strength is. Amazing man.
I love the oldies! I wasn't even born when most of them came out. Perhaps I have an "old" soul! According to my mom, these songs had so much meaning and soul. This is all I listen to.
Carl Smith hints of what was to follow for Philadelphia International Records, the musicians (MFSB), and arranging from Thom Bell and Bobby Martin to dominate the airwaves the next decade!!!
Stopping Sampling The Ice Man's Music if You're not Paying Him or Especially if You don't know of Him This Generation today got The Game all F-up but then again this is The worst Generation for Music(Garage) so I do understand.
Love dilla but he wouldnt be nothing without the real greats in thr past everybodys sound was stolen/sampled from pioneers wjo created original sound love from socal mr butler
I can just imagine dillas face when he heard that intro 😭
Same
really grateful to have discovered Dilla at this age, the amount of music that I've discovered through his discovery is amazing.

Another classic from the Philly songwriting legends Tom Bell Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff...
When Jerry Butler cut this album, he was at the top of his game. The original Iceman.

This was the b side of only the strong survive. I was just a little kid, but I know there was something special about this cut.

Nobody can chop up these beautiful songs the way Dilla did: ua-cam.com/video/CWlDPikQOK0/v-deo.html
I let you take a whole lot of liberties that a man (an O.G. like me) should never do!
How about work on titling the videos properly.
