Well what a great show I blanked today on dead baits
Merry Christmas chaps
Merry Christmas 🎄Shame about the blank but makes the next bite even better!
Ha Ha wrote my first comment before you got the fish, thats lovely that, well done mate!
Thanks Paul 😃
It's all about that feeling, and glad you got it in the end. :) Was out today myself on the local river, busted the prop on my motor, snagged all the lures I put on, and they rain/snow keept pouring down. But a jack came and made it allright in the end. ^^
It’s the journey for sure! Anglers always say what they caught a fish on and the tactics used, but the real story is what they did to get to the bite in the first place!
i use my carp set up for piking i just deadbait with floats an circle hooks. Awsome video Shaun. happy xmas to you an your family an Hugh. look forward to future videos🐊🎣
Yea in hindsight I should have switched to a float, would have been more sensitive! Happy Christmas and have a good 2024 👍
@@TheFishingBloggers when pike anglers say they dont like recistance does that mean use light lead system like 15g egg weight on float instead of 25g?
@@AdamsAnglingTv I normally just use a couple off SSG on a float setup, like what I was using in this video but I’d have a float above it with a stop knot.
Nice pike!
Thanks 🙏
Awesome angling this year guys hope you both had great day🎅 happy Xmas and tightlines for 2024 🎣👊🎅🍺
Thanks Darwin - Merry Christmas mate 🎄
Love this, bit o'piking , something I have yet to try, caught an accidental pike once, whilst reeling in a roach, how it hooked I have no idea but it did and although only a jack pike, was a real bonus at the time. I like the variation of uploads, so yeah go for it, its fishing after all, I,m an old course fisherman, turned carper, but always open to something else. Like the simple rig and the fact you have used the C series, which I have, shows we dont have to go and buy 'pike rods' to have a bash. Sending best wishes for 2024 to you and yours, many thanks for the uploads, much appreciated and enjoyed!
Glad to hear you enjoyed the video 👍
HI great show. I'd like to see pop up baits for pike thanks
Will have to wait till the autumn 🍂
Please don’t take any notice of the comments people have made regarding waiting longer before striking, this will result in deep hooked pike 👍
👍👍
I am not a pike fisherman but are not supposed to leave the bail arm open?
No don’t need to, that’s one way of doing it with a drop off indicator.
Yes, you are supposed to leave bail arm open , pike don't like any resistance, probably why he's losing so many takes . Can't fish for pike like you do for carp . Needs to stick with his carp fishing
@@davidrudd2708 so you can only catch a pike with an open bail arm and a drop off indicator? Anglers must have been lost before someone come up with that concept then…the next time I’m lure fishing or doing some sink and draw I’ll remember to leave the bail arm open and pop on the drop off indicator 😂 I need to stick to carp fishing? WHO are you to dictate what someone does in their free time?
@TheFishingBloggers don't put videos on UA-cam if you can't accept criticism💩😢
And i was talking about ledger fishing, not lure fishing you twit 😂
We need to get you a better hat for next year!!
100%
I’ve got 2 9ft chub outcast rods and I’m looking for a rod bag for them, what do you have for your ones? Any suggestions as the quiver I have is not the one for me
I use the Prologic avenger compact multi rod bag. It’s designed for retractable rods, don’t know if chub rods would fit.
@@TheFishingBloggers I'll measure em and check, cheers
@@nickflitter7172 if we get a session sorted then you can bring them along and see if they fit anything we have 👍
@@TheFishingBloggers recovering well from my 2nd operation now so I’m really hoping to be able to get up and about soon. Then we can sort it out and meet up. Looking forward to it
@@nickflitter7172 awesome mate, hope you have a fast recovery👍 keep us posted
Ignore the negative feedbacks try 3 small trebles head, middle, tail give you more chance of a hook up, alarm beeps pick up the rod and hold your line you will feel the pike turn
👍👍
Get some full sardines on there also much cheaper than mackerel i use both alon with lamprey
Good shout 👍
Newton park????
Yes 👍
It's a shit hole there. Bathampton aa is shit
Use proper drop off indicators. You are not fishing for carp. FFS.
Beep beep beepity beep, another pike pro update…
You should try some really small trebles in your pike fishing and you will be much more successful.
Don't tell anyone 😅
I might just try no trebles next time, I’ve got just as much chance of hooking something 😂😂😂
@@TheFishingBloggers .... or ... hear me out now.... 1 GIANT treble with a deadbait impaled on each hook !!... 😏😂
The water looks very coloured, I'd be twitching those baits every 10-15mins... just a 6" pull on the bait.. no more...
btw, as long as the pike is runnin, he's not eating, wait til he stops to manouvre the bait into his gullet...
I enjoyed the vid, I know some have been critical of your process, never mind 'em... & yes !... more of this content please... 🤗
Happy Xmas , mate !
😎👍☘️🍺
@@peterfitzpatrick7032 I might just use a 3/0 hook with a minnow, that should nail them! Be lucky 👍
@@TheFishingBloggers ... or a string of 50 so you can foul-hook the suckers, all is fair in love , war & fishin.. 😉
I'm on a PB blanking streak at the moment so I feel yer pain droppin those fish... 😂
The piking has been brutal lately but thats fishing.. 🤔
Tight lines, mate !!
Go for the Zander
Not fished for Zander for 4/5 years, should have another go for them as they are mega fish!
Try a few smaller sardines etc
Nearly went with a sprat
You have to let a bite develop mate and not strike at a bite like it’s a carp take
Don’t obvs give it too long but 10-15 seconds
Sometimes the biggest pike have the cutest bites
Good video happy new year
I’ve been pike fishing for 30 years, I’m fully aware to let a bite develop. Appreciate the advice though 👍 Merry Christmas 🎄
@@TheFishingBloggers You should know better then. As soon as a run starts, you wind down on it. You don't wait. Jesus wept. Noddy pike anglers are dangerous.
@@mauricetoussaint7283 beep beep beepity beep, another pike pro update!
Probably smaller jacks grabbing the bait but cant swallow
That’s what I think too matey 👍
Hi mate, your struggling to hook pike effectively because of your set up. To set 2 treble hooks into a pikes bony mouth involves enough force to pull the hooks out of your bait and into the pikes mouth. Using mono is fine but I go 20lb, the stretch in mono requires using rods in the 3 lb test upwards, your rods are not upto the job, they are designed for a different purpose, hope this helps and great to see you enjoying yourself 👍
Appreciate the comment but I disagree, when I started pike fishing I had a set of fibreglass 1.75lb rods and Mitchell 300s, I hooked 100s of pike on this setup! Modern day angling pushes towards bigger rods and heavier test curves but this doesn’t mean you will apply more force to the fish. Be lucky
As a test curve is determined by the weight to create a 90 degree angle a 1.75 test curve can’t apply the same pressure as a 3.25 test curve. A simple experiment is to get a friend to hold different test curve rods while you pull the line to create a 90 degree angle, you’ll be surprised, that’s why we use up to 3.5 test curve when drifter fishing to set the hooks, it’s so easy to miss the important things in pike fishing, so many things to consider that are not a problem in other types of fishing. PAC is a fantastic club to join and they cover information to beginners up to anglers that have been fishing for 50 years 👍👍
@@carlclarke3857 I’m aware how rod test curves work, pressure is more effected by the length of the rod and the quality of the carbon. A 9ft 2.75 would have more pressure through it than a 12ft 3lb rod…that’s why big game rods are ultra short. A 12/13ft rod is more capable of long range casting as the casting arc is bigger, not because it applies more power to the lead.
@@TheFishingBloggers A higher test curve rod sets hooks better and a longer rod picks up more line on the strike due to extra leverage 👍
@@carlclarke3857 but I was fishing 3ft from the bank, so that would be irrelevant
Video should be called "how not to pike fish"
Terrible info for any beginners, not really good enough in my opinion.
How come? What was wrong…
100% agree. Totally clueless.
How dare you fish for pike without a dedicated pike set up 😂
I know mate, anyone would think it was a crime! There’s plenty of previous videos piking and there’s a unit of a fish on the UA-cam banner….but nope I’ve got no clue what I’m doing and need to stick to carping 😂😂😂
@@TheFishingBloggers but pike don’t like you using carp bobbins: 😂
@@MartynsAnglingAdventures the key is not to tell the pike and hide them in the grass so the bobbins are ‘covert’….pike are clever, but that tricks them everytime!
@@TheFishingBloggers 😂😂😂
You're striking away from the fish, not into them.
Fair point 👍
Do yourself a favour and join the PAC - they'll teach you how to go fishing for this apex predator rather than carp fishing with dead baits!
I’ve been pike fishing for over 30 years! Carp fishing with deadbaits? It doesn’t matter what the set up looks like 😂
It doesn't look like you've been pike fishing for 30 years , I agree with the previous reply , you are pike fishing with a carp set up , and you should be using drop off arms not bobbins , pike don't like any resistance, probably end up with a deep hooked pike
@@davidrudd2708 I explained why I wasn’t using drop off indicators in the video. They were in the bag ready to go but I couldn’t get rear bank sticks in the ground. Nothing wrong with using a bobbin and loose bait runner, some people can’t afford to buy all the different bits and bobs, this was showing how you can fish for pike with carp gear! Most of our followers are carp anglers so it was a cross over into pike.
I remember sitting on the bank of a big reservoir and a load of "anglers" landed down for a pike club competition, they even wanted me off the water ! 😂...
I watched in horror as these "pike anglers" set up around me with rusty rigs, silver paper drop-back indicators , and nylon line and most of 'em didn't even have alarms, some on floats... then they cast their baits and went back up the bank to have a fag & a chat with their mates, ignoring their rods... 🙄
😎👍☘️🍺
@@peterfitzpatrick7032 sounds about right 😂😂
Wait a about 15/20 seeconds line feels tight STRIKE
Several of the bites were peeling drag!
15 - 20 seconds , that will end up with a deep hooked pike
A total waste of time far too many arty type shots and not enough fishing, very disappointing. You should have done more editing maybe combining several sessions into one video not just two. You've obviously got very blunt hooks or not striking hard enough. Your main aim seemed to have been advertising, shan't be watching your channel again.
You’re miles off what the channels about, but if you don’t like it that’s up to you. Be lucky 👍
@@TheFishingBloggers Thanks
Stick to carp angling...🤣
Yea it was a weak effort!
Leave the fish alone .
They need to leave me alone…
