I saw quite a few punks and rockers whilst driving through Blackpool tonight on the way to work but like you said Stephen never any hint of trouble all out to enjoy themselves

There’s never any trouble because punks WERE never any trouble, we were merely the targets FOR trouble.
As an late 70s early 80s kid saw punk in our hometown always bit wary 😂, wondered what happened to them all, years since seen a proper spike hair punk so they do still exist.

Gosh it's soon crept round again, I remember last years videos. I always love seeing the punk fashion and the colourful mowhawks at rebellion. Less policing needed for the punks in comparison to events like young farmers. Great video Stephen

I was up there today Stephen, looks like around the time you were there, I bet we passed each other as I walked back up to see “Busking Joe”, a few of the punks that were there in the video were there when I was, it was a little busier too, I’d passed him as he was setting up as I was parked further up. I couldn’t make it last year as Brazilica Samba Festival in Liverpool was on on the Saturday, same this year and I can’t manage both so close at the minute. So, the time before that it was on would have been 2019 as 2020/21 it wasn’t on due to Lockdown and it seemed a lot busier then, seen a few faces from 2019 today that I’d taken photos of too.
There's a good Co-op supermarket somewhere around North Station too as I recall but nothing near South Station!

What was the hotel opposite blackpool station in the 70s.
whats parking like for visiting blackpool? if I jump in the (medium sized) camper and pop over this week to do the lights and wanted to make it a 2 / 3 day visit how would i do it?
You can park on the promenade free from 8pm-8am. If you want to stay off the promenade, the car park next to the Savoy Hotel at Gynn Square is popular for campers. There is also the coach & camper van car park at Central, which you can see on my Hibs Football come to Blackpool video.
@@AWalkontheWildSideBlackpool decided to be totally silly and come for the switch on weekend so parking will now be even worse! Not helped by not being able to walk long distances but if I can park say upto 2 miles out southwards then I can cycle the rest, and even cycle the lights..... (Lez, really relay camping)
@@lezbriddon Hampton Road Social Club is worth a look if you need a hook up. It’s on Lytham Road just south of the railway bridge, Pleasure Beach area.

Couple of 'punks' hanging around, the ones outside the pubs looked more like BNP members to me. Where was the 'rebellion' and more poiniently against what were they rebelling against? In my punk days (hay days I hasten to add) so, late 70's early 80's we were initially against the 'frumpy/archaic' establishment then later more about 'peace and freedom'. Get down to London, in droves, and make our voices heard, that'd be a bit closer to a rebellion. What's the point of going to Blackpool?

I expect punks to be a little more anarchic and anti-things. having their hair spiked was a symbol of their stance against stuffy hair-do's and the likes. piercings were the thing (some lads in my class at school were soundly outed by the headmaster because they really did pierce their ears with safety pins during the summer holiday. they did it at the start of the long break so that they could wear studs on their return in the Sept.) aye, the 70's was the era for punks, Mary Quant, and general anarchy - and I ignored most of it 🤣
