You know how it is in most big cities. There are neighborhoods where people live and there are downtowns where people work. But here in San Diego, they are increasingly becoming one and the same. Attorney Bill Sauls has called downtown home since 1982. Larry Himmel offers this tour of a neighborhood called downtown.

I love it, he said downtown is great to raise kids. What a difference 30 years makes! You'd be insane to expose your kids to all the vagrants and drug use in downtown SD today.
The 90s were the best
All that hard work that went into cleaning-up the downtown . . .
Now Downtown is a dump. It's like a bunch of roaches living under a fridge.
So long are the days when downtown San Diego was a great place to raise kids.
I love the year 1993 ❤❤
Can we ever get back to this state of living ever?
No, that's the whole point.
It used to be "The Finest City" .....🤔.....probably should update the moniker 😮💨....
Went to SDSU in the early 2000s. My favorite city. Id still love to move back.
Love Larry Himmel
And 30 years later, everyone lives in tents.
The Democrats have incredible foresight 😅
Downtown SD is dodging human feces on the sidewalk and getting screamed at by the homeless while you wait for a trolley. It is disgusting and only makes for good pictures at night.
I miss the Valentino's Tacos on 9th
Downtown hasnt changed much honestly 2024
Why is the reporter dressing like the local bartender?!?!?!?
Absolutely true
Unfortunately, San Diego is not the same. If you live downtown around 8 o’clock, there’s places you don’t want to be near. Overpriced living quarters, homeless all over the streets and streets smell of urine. Also the Palladium doesn’t operate anymore. So those who haven’t been to San Diego in a while it is definitely not the same. 💔
1988/89 we would go directly to Horton Plaza and that's it
The 90’s were awesome in San Diego. The Reader had pages and pages of apartments for rent around$500 a month. Everyone was having fun and the beach scene was crazy fun. Now those apartments are $3000 a month. Gas is the highest in all the states. The homeless and illegals have ruined downtown. Not safe to be out walking alone.
Oh they clean it up when the Padres play ball.
Now, it's infested with homeless.
Now downtown is the unsafest place in southern California! Thank you Obama!!
First
The 90s was the BEST decade to live in San Diego!!! The rent prices were VERY AFFORABLE, EVEN AT the beach!!! I paid 400 dollars a month to live 1 and a half block from the beach back in 1997!!! It was AWESOME!!! That SAME apartment today costs $3000 dollars a month sadly!!!
Wow I heard back in the 90s even having a restaurant job could've gotten you a apartment for yourself is that true ?
Wow ! From $400 to $3,000 in less than 30 years
Not a single addict or homeless tent back then! Todd Gloryhole really wants SD to suffer in 2024 and beyond😭
I lived in San Diego in 1993 ( I grew up there but I returned briefly in 1993-1994). It was a great city then, but the economy was not strong. I moved to Seattle in 1995 because I could get a better job there.
The people in San Diego are much friendlier than the people in Seattle. That is what I miss.
Love these videos.
But today we have Div ersity lol
