    I love this car. My daughter bought one and she’s happy. At first she said it was sluggish and it didn’t have much pick up and go as her 2007 CRV. She even took it back to the dealer because she said she almost got hit twice while trying to merge onto the highway while going to work. The dealership assured her the car was fine and she had to put more than just 91 miles on it. The car needed to learn her driving pattern… if that makes sense 🤷🏻‍♀️ However she now has 719 miles on her car and this baby ZIPS! I think since the car was so new at first and it has a softer ride, she felt something was wrong. Nope!!! Honda Approved!

    Great info and description of the Hrv. Simply affordable and dependable engine. Not full of tech but great daily driver with endless space. Uses regular 87 gas. Great for long and short trips. Not powerful engine. I love that you start it with a key. Less stuff to break down.

    Great review. For the price point, this is my favorite and most practical factory sport trim vehicle, and what I would get, in Aegean Blue Metallic or the Black Pearl like this one. You covered all the good features well.
    I saw the 2022 in right hand drive international versions that may be coming out now as 2021 models, or early 2022, maybe later here. It is nice, but probably more expensive, and I prefer this sport version. I like how it is equipped, with the simple old school key ignition and without the Honda Sense package to keep cost down, and less things to go wrong. Ditto no sunroof, power seats, dual zone A/C, etc. The rear hatch emblems should have been smoked chrome like the main grill piece. Otherwise, I like the exterior as is. Turn signals on the exterior rear view mirrors would be nice, but add to the cost, like for the Civic Sport Sedans.
    It would be nice to have the 6 speakers, but that could be fixed with aftermarket speakers/subwoofer, amps and a DSP processor like I would get later, preferably from Rockford Fosgate. I wish it had the CD player from the previous HR-V, but with the volume knob, Apple Carplay and Android Auto, but no biggie. It is probably decent with 180 watts, and maybe just replacing the speakers first.
    I know in Germany and maybe elsewhere, the Sport is the top trim with leather seats and the 180 HP 1.5 Turbo engine from the Civic Sport Hatchback with dual exhaust. I would be extremely happy with the more reliable N/A 2.0L engine from the Civic Sport Sedan for 20 more HP.
    The normal accessories like the wheel locks, nice black license plate frames and clear covers, weather mats, cargo mat, and rear seat back protectors, the cargo area cover, door sill and other customization items would make it just right for me. They even have the Pedal Commander available for this. I heard it works well for the Toyota 4Runners and such.
    I also like the 2021 Civic Sport Sedan, but really would like the 2022 version coming out, but this is much more practical to carry things I would need to carry, but if I could have both, I would.

    Having a Civic and a CR-V, I’m biased toward Honda, but the 21 HR-V is just not competitive against the Hyundai Kona. For the same price, the Kona gives you a 175 hp 1.6L turbo engine paired with a dual clutch transmission, 18” wheels, electronic 8-way adjustable driver seat, 310 watt audio with 8 speakers, and LED projector headlights, to name a few.

    I never buy the first model run. The 2020 HR-V was the most problem-free model Honda sold. It also holds its resale value best. I'd suggest buying the 2021 HR-V if you want one before next year. The EX trim is the best value.

      @@sl4983, My experience is the 30 MPG 1.8-4 cyl., is an excellent, reliable, little motor. With meticulous upkeep, it can keep you on the road for over 20 years. It is easy to drive and has the utility of a vehicle bigger on the inside than on the outside. My only criticism is that side-impact crash results are among the worst in its class.

    I recently purchased a '22 Sport model (unchanged from '21) and i love it! You mention the lack of LED headlights dropping the IHS rating a bit. Actually these headlights are the best on any car I've owned. They are super bright and the high beams are outstanding. I don't miss LED at all. The lack of auto on headlights on the. Sport model is pretty crappy in my opinion. My prior two new cars both had auto on lights and i greatly miss them. Overall, this was a great purchase for me. I like it much better than the newly released photos of the '23 model. The lost the character that the '22 and prior have.

I had a Mazda for years and it would slow down and speed up perfectly when in heay traffic. I have seen the "re designed " 2022 HRV on another You Tube channel. It is completely different from the current model. In fact it so different in my opinion it seems that the HRV has been discontinued but of course the HRV continues. I am concerned that with the re design Honda will screw things up. When the CRV was re designed Honda used an engine that was troublesome. These auto companies always try in these re designs to put as much "new" as they can and reliability suffers. That is what I am afraid will happen with the re design of the HRV. If I were able to afford a newer vehicle I would road test the current model & purchase either a certified or new one. Reliabilty is very important. I have been through enough cars and lemons tjat the thrill of auto membership is not thrilling. I do not care 1 whit about al the tech because that can always be added and improved. It is when the vehicle gets older that counts. I guess most lease and retun after 3 years so reliability is no big deal. Considering the many vehicles that have reliability issues due to re design there is a good reason for my concern.

    • @Blank00
      @Blank00 3 роки тому

      I highly doubt that the HRV reliability will suffer during its redesign. The hybrid powertrain is expected to be a copy/paste from the Insight powertrain, which has been pretty reliable. If not hybrid, then the HRV powertrain is expected to be a copy/paste from the Civic LX powertrain, which has been around since 2016 and has been reliable. If the powertrain is copy/paste from a powertrain that has been solid to begin with, I'd have no concern about the HRV redesign.
