Meeting #Opalthefairy was an absolute highlight, and my favorite shows
were @opalandjadeoff-coloredtrea6097 and theatreoffools.com/ Thank you to all the performers, vendors, and hard workers that put on this incredible festival!!
It's SO HARD for me to be critical of a place where I had such a great time, and I acknowledge that I could have cut time out of my festival day to communicate some of my issues to the camp staff and consciously chose not to do that to maximize renfest time. I hope my criticisms can be taken charitably and might be useful to others who are planning a trip, especially in terms of the missing or conflicting information as it is written out.

thank you for the pros/cons of the cabin experience. i usually tent camp at this festival as do my friends, so i won't be utilizing the cabins, but it seems to me that there are more cons than pros to them, so that finalizes that decision for me! glad you had a great time with the faire itself...hopefully the overall experience was worth your trip 😄

I love the TRF...this will be my 5th year this year and am so looking forward to everything it offers. I've always done tent camping with the exception of two years ago when the temp dropped to 35°, so a hotel UT was for that night 😆...I go for Celtic weekend and love all the decorations and merriment! HUZZAH!!

It's so cool to call the nation's largest faire my home faire. Since my first time going it's had that special feeling, like a second home. It does have its downsides, the nickel and diming is one of them. I just hope they don't get too big and lose their heart. It does make me want to check out other faires though, which isn't a bad thing!

You make it sound like the pinnacle of ren fairs. I'll have to see about going one of these years.

I forget how I first ended up there, but it was years ago. And I went several times over the years that followed; -then I left to NYC for 4 years to work, coming back to Texas to deal with family illnesses. Now that things have sort of settled down, I'm totally gearing up to return.
      *pause to collect my self*
OMG! I can see from her video that things have exploded into a Grand Experience!
Before, it was just the love of atmosphere and the cosplay that brought me back with friends and family. But this...
This video shows how huge they've grown. At every level!
You won't be disappointed! I was looking into the cabins for a friend since I've been more often (long ago mind you) and now after seeing the video I'm TEN TIMES more excited to go...

Thanks for stopping by my vlog. I hope you also enjoy my other adventures. I enjoy yours!
I’m sorry about the cabin. That sounds like a horrible experience. I like to put up a canopy over my tent, so if it rains, I’ll have a nice buffer. Maybe try that next time!

i used to love trf it became to theme parkish for me and all about nickle and dimeing you to death. 25 bucks per person to camp? it used to be 20 bucks a car and they STILL dont seem to have the showers and perm toilets they were promising back in the early 2000s to justify the price hike in camping. its nice to see they added new stuff last few years i went it was so cramped by noon you couldnt move and would just go back to camp

I feel the same way about the theme park feel. Is there a Ren Fest in Texas that has a more authentic old school feel that the festival used to have?

@@chrismartin500 there is!!!! Sherwood Forest Fair its about 40 mins outside of austin on 290 south. i havent been in a few yrs but it retains the old school ren fair feeling. the first year it opened i met the owner and told him if he ever sold his soul the way TRF did i would sacrifice him in the stone circle. he replied "as you should" and yes they have a real STONE CIRCLE the stones are imported from Ireland. IT will be coming up soon it usually opens in march and runs into april

Been going there for decades. Awesome experience every time. There is educational value there, you just have to look for it. The Tex ren fest has morphed into everything ancient and party factor over the years!

Yeah, my experience with 'After Hours' Faire is...(if its three days) Generally Friday night is chill, SATURDAY is the crazy night because on Sunday it's "get fired Sunday" especially if it's the last weekend of the faire xD So people let loose a little more.
I have been wondering about the camping...cause it's about the same as staying at a hotel.....lol So this is actually very helpful. Thank you.

I loved seeing all of you!!! I'm so happy you had an overall good time! I will say camping in a reserved section was great for me personally, if you have a clan to be with you'll usually have everything you need (water tubs w spouts for hand washing, plenty of battery packs to charge up at, a nice little fire to warm up at) and a good tent (I luckily did not get wet) I was so so so thankful to only be in about row 7 so it wasn't a bad walk. If you make it back down next year lemme know and if you guys are comfortable I can see if my clan has room to adopt yall!!!

Next time you go I would suggest you try the King's Feast. It may be expensive just looking at it but well worth it. I have been to it several times over the years

Btw, if y’all go for the first time especially the camp site and think it’s wild, it’s not. It use to be crazy wild back in the day. Thank goodness it has calmed down a bit!

What was the price for the cabin you stayed at? Looking to go camping at a ren faire for the first time too. Thank you! 🥰
