UnPhayzable samsung has already had this function in their phones from the s7 edge. No UA-cam red needed. And you can do this with any app in your app drawer

I've got the pixel 2 xl and it is amazingly smooth. As someone who has used iOS before (tried the iPhone X for 14 days) the pixel is so quick and has no stutter. Really impressive stuff.

The top part of the back is glass. I don't know what type of glass. I haven't seen any advertising claiming that the back glass is gorilla glass, so it probably isn't. There were a lot of issues in the first round of Pixels with that back glass breaking.
LG is not that bad. While they fail in comparison in some aspects, they also kind of lead a revolution in another. The V30 is one of the best phones that came out this year!

Jose Ortiz Specs? Are you kidding me? The iphone X is by far the fastest phone on the market rn. And screen res doesn't matter much (Your eye can't notice a different above 300ppi). In fact, apples screens are better because their OLED screens are from Samsung (though they're not as good as the ones that Samsung has in their phons)

I would disagree personally. I think while the Note 8 is a beast compared to any other Samsung phone, the software still doesn't beat stock android or iOS. I'm a huge fan of simplicity and long lasting speed, and Samsung phones' UI haven't shown that optimization in the past. Who knows, maybe Note 8 will be different because of the touchwiz revamp and better specs.

I just got a pixel 2 xl and after a full 24 hours of use I can say I like the hell out of the thing. I switched from an iPhone X for this and don't regret it.

So basically google is indirectly admitting the microphone is always on and always uploading all information from it and processing it. Who knows what other information they're storing.
Well, assuming no ill intentions, the AI should be passively listening and identifying what kind of audio is around until it identifies music and only then go online :/ If you notice on UA-cam when using the auto-generated subtitles it identifies music from speech.
The music identifying is localized, its not sending the data to their servers. And phones already have always listening microphones for their voice assistants.
Every other Android phone including all of Samsung's have their own proprietary UI and uses Android underneath on hardware that hasn't been 100% optimized for Android. It doesn't make it a bad phone, but it doesn't make it better just because of a few pieces of hardware. If the software isn't streamlined since they outsource for OS to Android, the hardware and software communication isn't going to run as fluid as software and hardware that is hand picked and developed together. Do some research before jumping to conclusions using insufficient data. Use your brain
DJ you realize all these phones have the same snapdragon processor, therefor they're optimized the same way. samsung just edits the UI a bit to what they think looks best. That doesnt mean its in any way less optimized.
phones have kinda reached a tipping point where most of the big innovations have already been made, so now its up to the really great companies to perfect the small things to get a phone as close to perfect as possible
i still use that Nexus live wallpaper but with a purely black background. Maybe it uses some extra juice running in the background, but I think the power savings from having a mostly black wallpaper on OLED helps make up whatever juice the wallpaper is using. I get incredible battery life still on my Galaxy S7.

it doesn't always listen to you, it only analyzes the soundwaves in the room, and when they get sound waves matching: "ok google" it starts listening to your words
I love the black and white Pixel 2 XL. I am also diggin' your Google jacket. Happy with my Galaxy s8 until 2019. But I'm keeping an eye on the Pixel phones and watching how they improve until then. This is a huge improvement over the first, but they still have a few kinks to work out IMO.

Well no, he _is_ a Google employee. That's not a secret. He makes money by doing reviews for UA-cam, which is his employment. Google owns UA-cam of course, and so Google employs him. He is a Google employee. Perhaps not as "directly" as working as General manager for Google headquarters, but he definitely is.

Marques, what about the POLED screen? Have u experienced any problems? Some V30 users were complaining about their devices screens, what about the Pixel 2 XL, did u have any issues?

Aside from the headphone jack there's nothing wrong with the pixel. If u ever tried the first pixel the software experience is very smooth. This phones are the best when it comes to optimization.
As a previous iOS user and a one year pixel user, I was really disappointed to find out that a lot of the pixel 2 features weren't coming to the pixel 1. I thought that Google would keep their os consistent throughout their generations of pixel, but I guess it is only stock Android that stays up to date on older pixels. Oh well...

Is there a way to turn off the "Always On Mic"? I really want the Pixel 2 but i feel creeped out by the thought of my smartphone listening in on for example every conversation i have..
1pxpx It does that on any android phone by default, hence you can do the 'Ok Google' thing.
it doesn't always listen to you, it only analyzes the soundwaves in the room, and when they get sound waves matching: "ok google" it starts listening to your words

1pxpx yes you don't have to turn it on, it is optional although you'll lose many cool features with it off

I love the black and white Pixel 2 XL. I am also diggin' your Google jacket. Happy with my Galaxy s8 until 2019. But I'm keeping an eye on the Pixel phones and watching how they improve until then. This is a huge improvement over the first, but they still have a few kinks to work out IMO.

I think because it is design by committee. I too think android is not too big to be fixed by a company the size of google, but maybe it is not even in their interest, after all, WE are the product, not the phone:)

Aside from the headphone jack there's nothing wrong with the pixel. If u ever tried the first pixel the software experience is very smooth. This phones are the best when it comes to optimization.

As a previous iOS user and a one year pixel user, I was really disappointed to find out that a lot of the pixel 2 features weren't coming to the pixel 1. I thought that Google would keep their os consistent throughout their generations of pixel, but I guess it is only stock Android that stays up to date on older pixels. Oh well...
