Mid Century Modern is my favourite! I don't know if you opened any of the cabinets for that built in television, but I'm willing to bet that there would be a built in record player and radio in one of them. Thanks for the look at a true classic!
I agree. The speaker at the top of the unit isn't just for the tv. Pity its being demolished. Pretty sure that parquet flooring in the basement can be saved. Even with modern updates/styling it would have its authenticity. Still ideal for modern life.
Just noticed the price tag. Less than a million would cover repairs, rewiring and updating fixtures and fittings to todays equivalent level of luxury. Someone must want that piece of land for more than a house. What's by/beneath it?
I agree with so many. If only you could have opened the cabinet to the right of the TV, I'm certain you would have found a record player! I was holding my breath...waiting. Are there guidelines you have to heed when you explore these homes?

Truly amazing house. I've only seen those built-in television cabinets in home magazines of the era, never in real life. Just criminal that it's being torn down without any regard. TV was a Philco.
Philco was a big name in appliances and major electronics in the 50s-60s. Like Westinghouse or General Electric. That house was high end middle class for that time frame. Likely costing around $40,000, very expensive.
The mirrored walls with the printed frost on it like the one in this house, were all the rage with the moneyed classes up through the early to mid 70s. My aunt, who married into money, always had a mirrored wall in her mid 50s ranch style home. She would talk on the phone and watch herself in the mirror.
P.S. Really enjoy your videos and am totally amazed at some of the expensive furniture and antiques left in some of these homes!!! But then I was raised to care and appreciate my possessions since they were hard earned!
@@pennybundy972 My greatest treasures are the furniture pieces I grew up with left behind by my parents. I even refinished a coffee table from the set they bought in the '70s. [and I still wish they had kept that avocado green velour couch they had for years]. The lamp from that collection still sits in the front room. They took care of their stuff. The bed room set is Broyhill Spectra from 1963. And chair, marble coffee & end tables from a set they had are from the same year. The huge buffet and table and chairs that all housewives seemed to have in the '60s was too large for anyone to fit. A shame. And sort of obsolete for modern life, I guess. Plus my brothers wives have their own taste. But now they're gone, it gives me comfort to be around it all. Furniture built to last TWO lifetimes, right? I've added my own "retro" pieces and have a killer collection of acrylic grapes so the theme continues. Seeing and hearing the excitement if people seeing this sort of thing for the first time is totally killer to me. What a treat.
Philco/Filco TV! I LOVE THE built-in wall! That's my favorite. Next fave is the flowered bathroom, & the little cubbies on each side of the bathroom sinks (next time you see a house with that feature, you should open them up). Wish I could have gone through & taken some of the fixtures!
Hi Ethan, I do know what brand the television is, it's a Philco. I love the retro, as you do. I love the bathrooms. The shape of the countertops and the color sinks, toilets, and tubs. I live in a 1970 mobile home, with my husband and two youngest children, we have 8,and all from the same marriage. The bathroom and kitchen are the green sinks, etc. One of our son's lives in a older mobile home with the same. You're one of my favorite explorers. You're a good guy, you don't swear, and always so joyful. Keep up the great work and I'll be watching.
I would love to live in that house. I COMPLETELY LOVE THIS. IT COULD DEFINITELY BE FIXED UP. Your reaction to the untouched bathroom was EPIC💖 Thank you for this . Just Amazing
The basement looks like it could've been an apartment at one point. The big windows in the living room are beautiful! The bathrooms were cool looking. It's so retro! It's cool for the 1950's. It'll need a lot of updating, but it's an awesome house! Great tour, as always!
Hey Ethan PHILCO Electronics, Television, Other common Brands were RCA, Sylvania, Electrohome, Fleetwood. They MUST have been well off to have a built in, Very Unusual for that time period. Would have required a custom installation by an authorized Dealer.Where's the HI-Fi and the Sinatra Record collection? Wow. Awesome place.
Whoa! That first shot of the TV and shelves is super retro! WOW! And those lights in the basement are just awesome! What a blast from the past! Great find!
I love this home! MCM is my favourite! Wish I could save some of those light fixtures, railings, sinks, stoves, cupboard door handles, those awesome bathrooms! And that built in TV! Omg so sad :( , Thanks again for another great video!
The two wallpapered bathrooms are incredible. They could have been really tacky but they are kitsch AND chic AND gorgeous. I suppose they are long gone now. So thank you so much for immortalising those. You are a star!
Incredible find. I sure hope someone salvages all the things in this house. That tv is one of the very first ones. If someone with the money and the passion to save the house and restore it would be an amazing place
Loved the bathrooms, especially the flowered one. So incredible. And the stairway rails are the coolest. I don't think I have ever seen rails like that. Thank you for videos like this.
NOOOOOOOOOOO! Tell me they didn't demolish this house!!!!! I want to restore it to its original glory - those railings, and the light fixture with the starburst design on it in the bedroom, and that balcony! The built -in entertainment center! All of that beautiful wood in the basement that looks like Teak - I hope before the house was demolished those things were salvaged. Just an incredible MCM house! Who cares about the land - keep the house and restore it. Great find Ethan.
Rather unfortunate that all of those bathroom sinks, tubs, and toilets will be demolished. Those are actually somewhat sought after these days but only certain people seem to identify that when looking at these older pieces.
Love your taste in houses with classic retro, i have only been subbed with you for a couple months, your style and and how you are is perfect. Don't ever give up archiving the dying beautiful homes, much luv bro ❤
Hi Ethan. Thanks for the tour. I was born in 1957. WOW! It still looks amazing even though it’s decaying. Too bad somebody did not buy it and restore it. Great video.
Wow those lights hanging downstairs and the bannister!! OMG that window in the living room!!! I wouldn’t change that bathroom at all! That ceiling light would sell for big money on eBay! Authentic mid century!!
Best Powder Room EVER!!! That's a Philco TV. Thanks for another great find (I used to live in a 1961 brick rambler that had its original green tub, sink & toilet)
Back in the day, a TV was a big purchase. A persons wage was about $2,000, so a $400 TV was quite a bit. Love the house, and am sad they're tearing it down. Thanks for the tour.
I would DIE for this house. Thanks so much for showing us Ethan! ❤️ I love your commentary, and I love that someone else in the world is just as enthralled with mid century houses as I am.
What is up Ethan? You have incredible taste because i love this house too! Those bathrooms are retro-fabulous 😂 love the fixtures including the bar lights 😍 the tv built in so boogie for its time. The mirrors in the dining room with gold specks remind me of the ones in my childhood house, they were a little smokey with silver ( in liu of gold ) that matched a black and silver shag carpeting in our formal living room and a silver dining room light with glass blown globes as light bulb covers .... Did not realize my parents were so hip, 😂😂 thanks for sharing 🤗🤗
That's a really cool house. Beautiful bathrooms. Be careful of mold. And always bring a friend along, don't go alone. I love older houses, they have a homier feel to them.☺️
My dream house would be built from floor plans from the '50s or '60s with modern electrical/ HVAC/plumbing/retro linoleum/honest porcelain and wood, Filmaker13. And I would commit crimes for that garage with all the carpet rolled up in it !
So surprised the electricity is still on, A house in that condition fire hazard. Those lights @1:54 wow. For some reason the staircase in the basement reminds me of sewing spindles. Oh no my worse fear creepy dark basement hall. Ethan if you don't want to go in an area of a house trust your instincts, we all adore you and your video's. No need to go into dark places in basements, I think that's my inner voice saying that to myself, don't change Ethan!. Wow that chandelier @5:32 exquisite actually looks stunning against the mirrored wall, I don't usually like mirrored walls, but this looks ok. Those windows were beautiful, they just don't build houses like this anymore. Now that bathroom @7:12 mini chandeliers were sweet, yup, sorry Ethan but what else can I say really really colourful. Well I have learned something a toilet with a date 1957 I'm blown away that a toilet lasted that long, I honestly don't think we have that here in my state in Australia, green toilet yucky. Ok go away silly man, it's a etched glass mermaide lol. O.M.G you Saved the Best for last. Brilliant so old and yet still in excellent condition, reminds me of the puppet show we watched as children "Thunderbirds" Such beautiful condition, I really hope someone saves that T.V and Unit. Even I like it. So sad wish we could have seen this house in it's prime. Great video Thank you so much Ethan Hug's from Australia xx Brilliant video. TV may have been Philco 50-701: Philco 50-T-1477 1950s I think.
If the electricity is on it could be that someone may be buying or refurbishing it cuz if its been empty for years the electricity would have been turned off long ago
The wallpaper is most likely from the 1970s. That's when they started using foil and lost of florals. I used to be a paperhanger. i hope the house gets saved and restored. All the baseboard heating was top of the line at that time.
Thanks Duane. I wondered about that and was going to check my House & Garden Decorating books [don't know squat about decorating, but I love these books] from the '50s to the '70s to find out. IIRC that time capsule house in Palm Springs that made the news a few years ago hadn't been on the market since it was built in 1969 and had wallpaper like that. I would definitely feature that in my shack right now. Today.
The room you called a storage room in the basement was a shop a lot of men in the 50s and 60s like to have a place to work on things usually out of wood.
What an awesome time capsule of a house. Blast from the past. Thank you so much for making this video and sharing it with us. The TV is made by Philco. Absolutely love the channel man. Take care, and can't wait to see another video.
Ethan this was AWESOME! I Loved this house! The retro features were so cool. Loved the 0ld Philco surrounded by built ins. Thanks for sharing. On to the next, Peace.
Ethan this is one of the coolest houses ever - I can’t believe how cool it was somebody said they thought it was 60’s it could have some touches but to me it screams 50’s - that tv was definitely later 50’s - the gold mirror could have been added later but those bathrooms were amazing - that was really a great find - 3 kitchens? That house was owned by someone with money - great job!
If I were to do anything with that house I may try and restore the kitchen to its original finishes and that's it. That was amazing. Thanks for showing that!
Awesome dude! You hit a Homer again! I think it's cool how yall up there call wooded areas a forest! We here just call them woods! You educate me every day and I'm 53!
Wow this place is stunning - what a time warp too, the cabinet with the TV is amazing! Stunned. That 64yo toilet looks amazing lol and can’t believe how big the houses are there. Great video dude!
Ethan it occurs to me your love of MCM is deep and lastiing. It's amazing designs and loveliness is fleeting in this tear it down and put crud up Mc Mansions. Here is my thought...you love this design and have a real appreciation for it plus a skill at finding these homes who have wonderful things that need to be saved or rescued before their destruction. Perhaps, depending on your interest of skill sets become a rescuer for these amazing things right down to the wood paneling and bookcases. At least the matching bathroom sets, the special mirrors, photos of all the room or videos of the designs and set ups to use for the future designers. I cannot imagine that the stair railing in this home being destroyed. I kinda makes me sick as does the loss of the den wall unit and other items, old stoves, kitchen items like built in food processors, paint color samples chips and when possible the cupboards themselves. I grew up in this era of design and it breaks my heart to see it destroyed. My goodness even the outside railing designs on both sides are different and unique. Please think about this or even becoming a finder for architectural rescue businesses. They are out there and would love to gather and save this amazing design period the MCM. I would actually try to find a buyer while this home can be saved. Someone who has enough money to build a new place could take the same amount of money and have better land, location, home and history that would belong to them.
It's like somebody came and cleaned up the bath room for you. SO PRETTY that looked nice , except for the toilet its would have been a ,nice place, and you did an excellent showing clear words ENJOYED IT Love abanded houses
What a beautiful house! When you said it is being demolished, my heart was broken. I love MCM. If I could afford to buy and fix up the place up I would. I love those gorgeous bathrooms. I would keep everything as original as possible.
Beautiful home - sorry to hear its going to be demolished instead of restored. I can only imagine how awesome this place looked in the 1960s. Just a stunner.
That house is amazing. I wonder what the neighbouring homes are like.? Think the TV is a Philco . Have to say Ethan your enthusiasm for these old homes is amazing.. Don't ever change..
That TV is a philco. Also bright colors like you saw were common in the 50s and 60s. Bright pink, avocado, aqua blue and lemon yellow. Plus dark purples were very popular too.
Once again, you never cease to amaze me. Wow & Double Wow! Retro at it's best. But, seeing the decay makes me so sad. From the incredible bathroom colors and wallpaper with the way cool light fixtures and chandeliers. The Mermaid's etched on the shower door. Very creative work done there. I noticed the light cover with the etched star pattern matched the star etching in the glass front doors. Astral. The built in TV, no words can match how incredible this is. That probably started the phenomenon for all that we have now. And those were such simpler times too. My Late Parents met in 1958 and were married in 1959. I heard so many stories of what was popular beck then. The brands of TV's and Appliances too. Once again Thank-You for another fantastic video. And Another What's Up You Guys! Amazing Job! Take Care & Stay Safe & Healthy. Peace Out!
What a cool house! I am currently in the process of buying an MCM home. Unfortunately there are very few MCM elements left as it was updated late 70s/early 80s, but I plan to restore much of the MCM back into the home.
I want the bathrooms and the den also the bar lights!! Loved it. My grandfather used to repair TVs so yes that’s a Philco. You could buy replacement tubes and fix them. Nothing transistorized/ computerized and no color either. 🌈
The cabinets in the basement kitchens are the same as what my grandma had. My aunt still has a mirror wall like the one in the dining room. It is very 70's style. Grandma also had that TV, but it wasn't built in. Loved this house and would love to work to refinish it.

I've added my own "retro" pieces and have a killer collection of acrylic grapes so the theme continues.
Seeing and hearing the excitement if people seeing this sort of thing for the first time is totally killer to me.
What a treat.
Yes!! Growing up we had a mirrored wall.. we had to move from that home due to a tragic accident, but I LOVED that mirrored wall!!
Your reaction to the untouched bathroom was EPIC💖
Thank you for this . Just Amazing
That flower bathroom 🌺🌸🌼! I love it!!
Omg so sad :(
, Thanks again for another great video!
AWESOME FIND
Thanks for sharing. I wish they still made stuff as neat and long lasting.
Simply love the wallpaper in the half bath. Love the built in wall unit. Thank you for sharing.
Loved the bathrooms, especially the flowered one. So incredible. And the stairway rails are the coolest. I don't think I have ever seen rails like that. Thank you for videos like this.
Ethan: what is this?
Opens the door to one of the coolest retro bathrooms ever!
It was amazing how pristine it was!
I want the wallpaper!!
I love the wave in the bathroom countertops.
The way they carried the star glass etchings thru out the house too.
Nice find. Ty for sharing
Loved watching this. That's back when things were high quality made to last.
Philco TV and gorgeous built ins. I was born in 50s and that is a gorgeous house.
Love all of it.the colorful bathrooms and the chandeliers and the kitchens ,make 2 or 3 apartments out of it.sooo cool.❤❤😘🇺🇸
Thanks so much for preserving the interior so we mid century fans can see and enjoy
Loved this retro house!!! Sooo sad that it can’t be salvaged!!! Thank you Ethan for finding these gems!!!
That's a really cool house. Beautiful bathrooms. Be careful of mold. And always bring a friend along, don't go alone. I love older houses, they have a homier feel to them.☺️
Just looking at this house made me feel what a home and life was like in the 1950’s.
My dream house would be built from floor plans from the '50s or '60s with modern electrical/ HVAC/plumbing/retro linoleum/honest porcelain and wood, Filmaker13.
And I would commit crimes for that garage with all the carpet rolled up in it !
Wow those bathrooms were beautiful! I love all the details in this house. It's a shame at all the water damage. Great video Ethan. ( lonewolfs wifey )
Whats up Ethan?Cool retro house. The bathrooms and TV with built in was cool. The house has wonderful large windows Thanks for sharing.
Today.
@@DaveGreg100 I toured that house in Palm Springs a few years ago when it was on the market. I felt like I was in a time warp!
@@terrygilman2717 I bet that was a treat. The pictures were amazing.
@@DaveGreg100 it was amazing.
@@terrygilman2717 So jealous.
Love the kitchen and bathroom 👍 Thanks for sharing.
Nice 1, Ethan!👍 I actually loved the kitchen and that lower bathroom, WOW 😃
I'm obsessed with the 50s and 60s houses. The bathrooms are awesome. Thanks Ethan.
Digging this place, it has so much color and that vintage tv and built in entertainment center is classic great video, Thanks Ethan 🥰🥰
loving all the atomic starburst designs! nice touches
Philco! Also that gold and pink bathroom was absolutely amazing!
If I were to do anything with that house I may try and restore the kitchen to its original finishes and that's it. That was amazing. Thanks for showing that!
I adore mid century, thanks for the great video
This is really an awesomely awesome house... the bathroom is hella cool ... green toilet 1957... younger than I am... lol... stay safe Ethan... ❤🙏👍
Love the bathrooms especially the dark flowered one! Pink and green toilets and tubs-awesome!
Lots of valuable antiques in that house
If it's "completely abandoned" why is the electricity still on?
Very common actually
Maybe the electricity is on because it was up for sale and they have been showing it?
What a beautiful house! When you said it is being demolished, my heart was broken. I love MCM. If I could afford to buy and fix up the place up I would. I love those gorgeous bathrooms. I would keep everything as original as possible.
And new plumbing work all over the place...
@Rob Thomas because the fuck show government doesn't invest in the electric companies to shut down lighting in abandoned homes and businesses.
This house is a revelation, in BEAUTY.
I would love to accompany you, on one of your tours.
I loved the bathroom. It was so look beautiful with all the orange wall paper. The other bathrooms looked sharp too.
Another great vid, as usual. Thanks Ethan. 😊👍
I LOVE this house.
Thanks for another great video keep up the good work
Beautiful home - sorry to hear its going to be demolished instead of restored.
