What would you suggest to replace the factory components? I do not want to replace the factory double din cd changer quite yet. It is a 2005 civic EX special edition, coupe. I do not care about bass. It has some kind of pioneer 6x9s in the rear. Those will also get thrown in the trash and replaced I will use the same brand I use in the fronts. They are 5.5 inch rounds and a one inch tweeter. I am leaning towards jbl GX600c since they sound nice and will work with the low output head unit. Thank you.
I had these boss series (3.5, 6x9, and 6x5) in my vehicle with the riot 400 amp and they sounded good. Hit hard and never blew. You can’t put more power than what it’s intended for. On my third system and going back to stock head unit with the boss black series replacements. Pulling out the audio legends and aftermarket sound stream. 2014 Nissan Maxima clarion base only system seem difficult to work with.
JBL is one of the best sound quality brands out there in my opinion. (Currently listening to this video with JBL headphones) Even their Bluetooth speakers are great. Cant go wrong with anything JBL for sound quality
Well said. I have had a 12 inch Powered JBL subwoofer for about 3 years and man that thing is great. It puts out tons of bass and I only have the gain set to about 20%

Impedances are not the same for those speakers. If jbl is 1 db in sensitivity above boss, you will need to double boss power to consider quality. In order words they aren't receiving the same amount of power based on their own impedance. Boss is 4 ohms, jbl is 3.
Not to mention the different levels of juice these speaker are meant to handle in general as the Boss is a 3 stage while the JBL is only 2 stage... the JBL has a max of 55w RMS while the Boss caps at 150w RMS. (Atleast on modern spec sheets)

If JBL is $90 per pair and BOSS is $30 per pair, for four speakers there is a difference of $120. Shouldn't this mean that I (as a person who wants to do the least work possible) should buy the JBL because I won't have to also install a new amp and worry about battery drain on my small car? Seems like the BOSS requiring more power to achieve the JBL sound would require more installation knowhow, more equipment, and a possibility of my headlights dimming if I mess it up? Hahaha. I guess my basic question is, if I want to put in the least amount of effort would it make more sense for me to get the JBL and just call it a day? Edit: Spending $180 on four speakers still keeps me around the $250 mark I had planned. I drive a little Mitsubishi that has crap factories. I don't care about bass so much, and my car is cheap. I still want to hear my music with some volume and clarity.

The Boss does not sounds bad, it just don't sound as good as the JBL. I had a set off those boss they sounded good because I had separate component tweeters that was dash mounted.
In coaxial car applications, it's all about off-axis response. Your not even gonna hear them the way shown in this video. Stock mounting locations are typically low in front door and even high end sets often won't sound great mounted there. Recommend components to help naturally lift your staging.
i know a lot of old guys when restoring there old cars(HotRods,etc)they go to pepboys and install those cheap"Boss"speakers.when i suggest something that might be better.they blow there top🤬."Im not going to be like those "F'n"kids with there loud system".but what they listen to is old 60's stuff.so good enough for them😆👍❗

The boss 6.5 not bad butt I trading it up for a 4x6 kicker speakers I had to I bought the wrong speakers for my car door but I'm using two 9.6 speakers for the back Thay sound pretty good but I'm thinking of trading it with everything kicker speakers in my car
I feel like boss is still better. Granted I know the lot will throw stone 🙃 but the JBL sounds too bright for me. The bass is tight but high in my opinion. I feel like the boss is low but the deep bass can be heard. I know I could just get a sub but in the mean time boss in my lil 98DX coupe should be just fine.
The boss lower end can be manipulated by equal by an app on your phone...but most are not smart...so they lack knowledge. All the jbl did was put capacitor to change the speaker sound.

Im using now JBLs love them you can trough any music and ull enjoy But if you want really vocals get some real mid bass speakers they will out perform any full range speakers if I buy for my salf i fo with pioneers 100%

I think those Boss speakers would really only make good men ranges if they actually use the slightly bigger magnet wider spider range in a bigger surround and less harsh Tweeter cuz that's sweeter was vicious on the red one it was stupidly vicious for a speaker that size too it didn't sound good cuz that's weird really but the driver is really just what I'd say a mid bass driver it's like a paper cone it's worse than the paper cone so those speakers if they made them just a little less crappy maybe better and me you should try to see also could you do a kicker and a JBL thing because honestly I want to see which ones really better cuz I'm a fan of kicker speakers but I want to see if their email all up to what they really are
Um... you do realize you're actually way underpowering the Boss by running the same power/amp, right? O_o I'm all for doing a comparison and yes the JBL with a $100 price tag beats the Boss with a $40 price tag but also be honest... Boss is 4 ohm resistance and runs at 150w RMS while the JBL is 3 ohm and 55w RMS. If your running them on the same amp then you're way underpowering the Boss in comparison. To be precise if you've selected an amp that puts out 55w RMS at 3 ohms then the JBL is running at its peak while the Boss is getting 39.75w RMS out of its 150w RMS, or about 25% of what it's capable of. I would actually like to see the Boss compared side by side at its correct power with the JBL. JBL lists the power on the 620 as 55w RMS/165w peak with a resistance of 3 ohms and a sensitivity of 92Db Boss lists the power for the CH6530 as 150w RMS/300w peak with a resistance of 4 ohms and a sensitivity of 90Db.

i think you are comparing a heavy base speaker versus clarity normal speaker thats why it fails as a clairty speaker (BOSS Audio Systems CH6530)
