She's a perfectionist because she only wants to give her fans the very best product. She's always been at the top of her game. Phenomenally talented woman.
@@kevwiz369 When Fallon has been on this planet for 72 years, let's see what side of his face will show his wrinkles and pouches less, let alone who still will want to interview him.
I love her voice, I love her music and her acting, her movies...but what I love most of all...is hearing her talk during interviews! I love that, most of all! Herself as a person is so interesting to me and comforting! I can't wait until she writes a book about her life!
she put out albums and movies but was supposedly shy in public. people said it was because people were rude to her. when I was in college my nickname was Barbra Streisand. what an honor. love her!
Her only fault is that she is extremely self-critical and demands perfection of herself and others. It can be a rather risky trait in maintaining relationships I imagine.. As an artist she has a keen sense of what works for her vision and expects others to live up to her expectations. obviously from the tremendous success of her career which expands over 6 decades the woman knows what she's doing. As a person, she has used her celebrity in the best way possible and raising millions of money for special causes. If that's a diva then Keep being a Diva!!
I have a friend who did a lot of recording with her. There's good news and there's bad news: She drives people nuts with her perfectionism. When it's perfect, she wants it better. But that's also part of her talent; she sees life through an artistic lens all her own and makes that happen. She isn't humble (another first person encounter,) but is also self critical and strives to do her best, which IS humble. Human beings are complicated - especially the most artistic ones. She's too old world behavior-wise to be a match for Jimmy, but still, this is sweet. I like how she compliments John Mayer.
+I am Bullyproof Music You hit the nail on the head. Perhaps when her memoir is released next year, you'll read headlines: Barbra Streisand admits she has AADD and OCD."
It is wonderful to see her again, and she hasn't changed that in itself is comforting to me. My son used to get very animated when she was singing to my record a star is born. Brings back so many memories.
That’s true. My uncle was a VP at CBS for his whole career. He worked with her. I asked what she was like. He said, “She’s a pill. But damn, she knows exactly what she’s doing and what she wants and what’s best.”
I swear to god, Jimmy can't help himself from interrupting his guests nonstop, it's almost funny! Just watch the first 30 seconds of this clip and Barbara can barely even finish a sentence!
i don't think he does it intentionally but it's definitely something he needs to work on and maybe he will see that people keep writing this in the comments and do that! :P
To be fair, she is sitting at his desk because she's an egomaniac who demanded to be sat there instead of the guest couch in order to ensure that she was only ever shot from "her good side," on the threat of canceling her appearance altogether if they refused.
I do wish Jimmy would let his guests speak more. He constantly talks over them. I find him to be funny and charming and so very talented...he has so many different talents...but let your guests speak! That’s why we watch them appearing on the show!
I think Jimmy was just really really excited about having Barbara on the show, she hasn't sang or done a show in a long time so for her to be on his show, is a huge thing. You can literally see Jimmy skipping in his seat. He's just a really really happy/big fan of Barbara :)
Jimmy needs to learn to listen a bit more. and that doesn't mean just staying quiet and letting someone speak. Actually ACTIVELY listening. Also, this isn't SNL, no need to be cracking jokes and trying to be funny 24/7. It's ok to just let a joke, that popped into your head while the guest is speaking, go or saved for another time in order to not rudely cut off a guest. For example: Barbra says they go for rides in their truck. Jimmy starts with a joke about Barbara driving trucks and horses. 1. He cut her off which is rude. 2. He wasn't actively listening and goes on about how Barbra drives a truck when it's actually her husband (and she tries to correct him twice).
I didn't find him rude at all. This is not an interview it's just the format of the show. I wish we could've listened to her more but what are you gonna do? This is a show where everyone has to come up with a funny story to tell before they promote their stuff. At least Barbra didn't do that. And I wish Jimmy was better with the jokes but I think he did his best as a host and gave her the respect she deserves in the format of his show.
I agree...lots of interruptions and unnecessary remarks and showing lack of respect for his guests... She almost seems frustrated that he wasn't listening, hence, her comment to have to write a book to demystify rumors Jimmy seems so childish and also ackward....the flow of the conversation doesn't seem natural making the guest feel uncomfortable
I completely agree one hundred percent but I think Jimmy feels a lot of pressure to be always be funny because it's not just a regular talk show, it's The Tonight Show and he's technically the star of it. It is very annoying watching him always interrupting and trying a little too hard sometimes but I can understand where it might come from.
I was rather curious when barbra mentioned who co wrote "Dont believe what you read" So I Googled it as I vaguely remember it being someone else rather than John Mellon-camp and it seems she may have gotten the writers confused as the song was listed as being writen by the following composers Barbra Streisand, Ron Nagle, Scott Mathews she did however write the following with him "You're a Step in the Right Direction" Barbra Streisand, John Mellencamp from Emotion
martin barletta Agree. And Fallon is an untalented asshole. The man doesn't know the first thing about interviewing anyone, much less a legend of Streisand's stature. A frustrating visit. I'm sure Streisand endured it just to push the CD. It appears to have worked, as she went number one.
Best concert I have ever been to was indeed Barbara Streisand's concert in London, there were no frills or gimmicks, just sheer presence and talent of a beautiful down to earth angel, she was amazing warm and engaged with the audience, I was 3 rows behind Pierce Brosnan. It was an amazing evening will treasure it forever!
Barbra Streisand, one of the biggest and most prolific stars in the history of American entertainment, doesn't like the "big-time stardom thing." That's just precious.
That's actually the first time that I've heard Barbra tell the full Central Park story. The reason we were given in the past was it was only forgetting the lyrics to her songs that caused Barbra to stop performing live, not the threat of assassination from Arabic militants which was why the heavy police protection was originally requested.
Julius Maloney I read the Arab-Israeli war part of the story many, many years ago, like 1980s or before. I’m pretty sure she started telling the forgetting lyrics part of the story only more recently.
People keep complaining about Jimmy interrupting his guests. Ignoring his general excitement...you have to understand the following. Interviewers (especially if they are not in a serious forum like Oprah or 20/20) have a job. They have a limited amount of time to get soundbites, stories, and information out of the guest. They also have to keep the energy level up or we'd complain about getting bored. Secondly, Jimmy didn't interrupt her that much. He was being engaging to prove he was listening. He genuinely seems to love and enjoy his guests. She got out everything that she was going to say.
Ryan Beaty I’m not a Jimmy Fallon fan, but to be fair, I didn’t notice him “interrupting” her a lot here either. I think people just really like to repeat negative things about other people, especially on UA-cam.
Is this interview already 6 years old?? How is that possible? BTW, the song with John Mellencamp wasn't "Don't Believe What You Read", it was "You're a Step in the Right Direction" (2 different songs from 2 different albums).
He's s l o w l y starting to annoy me. He didn't even give her chance to finish her sentences lol Maybe it was nerves and excitement but that would be an excuse.
I was at that concert very close up. She arrived very late. She came out from behind that hugh rock in Central Park, was nervous n chewing gum. She threw the gum out sais, Shit! n sang her heart out.
I love Babs but that whole thing about her sitting on that side was PLANNED. Everyone knows how particular Babs is about sitting on camera at the left side of her face, there for every single talk show she goes on, she demands to be on the right so her left side of her face/her good side can show.
Very true, and you can be certain Streisand ALSO knew about the old black-and-white photo. Streisand may have ACTED surprised to sit at the desk and see the pic, but she knew all this beforehand. Ms. Streisand does NOT like surprises.
Garyb3397 Hahahaha... true that. Plus in addition to her not liking surprises she likes to be IN CONTROL. Just rememper the Microphone-Incident from Oprah. If you don't know what I'm talking about, google is your friend.
WHAT IS YOUR TRAUMA WITH THE SEAT GOD DAMN ITS A SEAT SHUT UP. i dont know much about her bue she is a true queen. you don't see people treating veteran artists with respect very often. like since michael died music is about one hit wonders so when someone this scale comes SHE DESERVES TO SEAT WHEREVER SHE WANTS

There is I think some truth. On here she is behaving very humbly. On the other hand I have disappointingly observed her as an interior design client behaving terribly to people. Well said.
Exactly!
Jimmy Kimmel didn't agree to this seating position and refused to have her. Fallon caved in. Apparently she only want to be seen in this angle..weird.

She's amazing!
Jimmy please please please learn how to let your guests speak. I love this show and you are so much fun but geez I want to hear from your guests too.

the man with the golden face.
She's still so Brooklyn OMG!
you can take the girl out of Brooklyn......
I love so much Barbra is the kind of star that never is doing all stupid things for attention but you know she is there and you love her
Such a lovely woman i got to see her 2 yrs ago on her last tour shes amazing

Yeah, he spends more time talking then his guests. It's getting pretty annoying.
she talks so slowly he needs to keep things moving it is the duty of the host
Thought the same thing. I like jimmy but he interrupts too much.
I love how she keeps the left side shot alive. Love you Babs!
she's a pro...she knows what she is doing
Barbra did the same thing on Oprah: she prefers to be on the left side (facing the audience). Everyone has their favorite angle.
I love your profile picture
And she did the same thing on Rosie O'Donnell's show.
Jimmy Fallon still has a lot to learn about hosting a talk show.
Seriously. When someone like Barbra Streisand is being interviewed, LET HER TALK. The constant joking is off-putting
To be fair, she is sitting at his desk because she's an egomaniac who demanded to be sat there instead of the guest couch in order to ensure that she was only ever shot from "her good side," on the threat of canceling her appearance altogether if they refused.
FUNNY GIRL!!! I would be clapping and cheering in the audience, i love that movie.
She's all class. Classy, classy, classy Lady!
She’s actually correct about divas. It’s technically for opera singers. No pop singer is fit to be called a diva, not even Streisand.
72 years old!!! Wow. We could only wish to look that fabulous at that age.
I love Barbra - she's the mother of musicals.

Sorry, but Jimmy is not funny. I watched a few interviews, most of his guests can't finish a sentence. And he should articulate better.
+chthonic19 Very well spotted. You should apply to the FBI Academy with such sharp mind.
+chthonic19........ you are shitty
You're cute
how's 6th grade?
hes is utter trash. why anybody gave this piece of excrement a show is beyond me.
love Barbra Streisand
Virgo and Taurus dynamic.
Love herrrrrr
LOVE HER!
Still love Barbara!
One day, i have to go to NY and to this show :(
0:30 "You are the one person allowed to be the Diva of all Divas" - She and Maria Callas.. indeed Fallon can feel whom he has in front of him
Wow same thing that Dionne Warwick said as well about being a 'diva'. Streisand is such a elegant lady.
#Legend
0:50 - a classic Barbra hand gesture
The Iconic beautiful long thin fingers and perfect nails! She still have it.
Of course she is, she always sits on the right side no matter what.
Her voice is so soft
There is I think some truth. On here she is behaving very humbly. On the other hand I have disappointingly observed her as an interior design client behaving terribly to people. Not unlike a diva toward her inferiors. People are more complex. It would be better to admitt to not being perfect all the time or in the past to have made a few wrong turns. We put our stars on pedestals and they should remind us they are human trying to be more spiritual admist the pitfalls of a material world.
I think this interviewer seems a bit overwhelmed
Best living communication (of me)(for all).
jimmy, let the woman talk
Can't believe she's turning 81 this year.
Why if you hate jimmy sooooo much do you spend the little time on this earth coming on to his page which by the way you have to subscribe to, and say shitty things. He makes a really shitty world that little bit funny.
came to see Babs...Jimmy is on every night....it was 50 years since she appeared on the Tonight Show and as an original watcher of those shows I wanted to see her on the same venue.....so it wasn't Jimmy that got me here it was Babs....after 50 years you think he would let her talk ....and I don't hate Jimmy...I kinda like him
She looks better and younger than Madonna!
He should have said: "If you're not a diva, then let's switch places." Lol
"We leed a very siple life. We stay home most of the times." hahahahah yeah right! If i had a mention like her i would stay home aswell. haha. and about Jimmys talking. He has been SOOO NERVOUS! And I would be too. So its al good.
love the outfit
She's Dope forever
She's definitely a diva after saying that she's not a diva
Supremely talented. The perfectionism wouldn’t be a problem but by all indications it’s paired with massive insecurity. An unstable mix. But she is a profound artist.
She’s sitting in HIS chair😂😂😂
She looks and sounds better behind that desk than Jimmy Fallon. Johnny Carson would be proud of Barbra Streisand.
Streisand is smart as a whip. Nothing gets past her. She’s also very kind. It’s alarming. Haha.
