    Great video. Really liking mine so far. Totally agree that the placing you hand on the watch for ECG and SP02 is to assure there is good contact to the skin. I have found there is no need to cover the face of the watch to accomplish this but rather press the frame of the watch with your thumb and finger. That allows you to get the reading and still see the countdown. Agree as well on the weight of the watch. Wish the sleep data was as in depth as the fitbit.

      I just published a follow-up video about the ScanWatch. Yes, I like it. I'll be a full review when I reach Day 63 of which will be later this month. The accuracy is great, the watch looks fantastic, the screen is made of sapphire glass, and the battery life is fabulous. I have also found the ScanWatch by Withings to be comfortable to wear. I do wish it tracked naps though.

    Hand on watch during SPO2 (and ECG) is to ensure the sensors are in full contact with your wrist during the duration of the test.
    I have mine doing tests every 10 minutes. Battery use seems a bit faster than I'd expect, if it's to make the 30 days expected from a charge (maybe 20 days at current rate.) Perhaps I didn't get a full charge in mine? I had the Steel HR prior to this, and that regularly got its promised 25 days, so I'm willing to withhold judgement there. I like the luminous hands, which the Steel HR didn't have. I also like how, when the LED screen is activated, that the hands will move out of the way to avoid blocking the screen, then move back when the screen turns off. That's nifty.

    • @PeterHerget
      @PeterHerget  2 роки тому +4

      Thanks Kirk for pithy comments! Glad you like your ScanWatch as much I do. Today is my Day 4 with this new Withings wearable and I really the comfort factor and how it quietly tracks all my health statistics. Withings made a few design changes and the new look is great. The sapphire glass was an awesome choice for most watch screens get so scratched up after just a few months. I didn't like the OEM watchband they sent, so I put on another and it looks even better than before (that will show-up in my next video). As for the SP02 and ECG, yeah, two huge features. Oh wait, and it tracks respiratory stats and flights of stairs. And it has a breathing app to help a human relax - sweet! A few questions for you, if you would please:
      1. Did the Withings Steel HR or Sport track flights of stairs?
      2. Can you can find in the Withings Health Mate where the breathing sessions are being tracked?
      Thanks!

    • @kirkwagner461
      @kirkwagner461 2 роки тому +5

      1. The Steel HR I had didn't track stairs.
      2. I don't see breathing sessions in the phone app. I've only done one of those, but it was long enough ago that it should have gotten synced to the app by now.

    On other Withings watches, I have read that the hands spin/move out of the way when using the digital screen at the top which makes it hard to check the time while doing activity tracking/viewing steps. Does this occur with this watch? If it does, do the hands go back when you stop using the digital screen? It seems like it would be annoying if the hands were moving all the time.

    • @PeterHerget
      @PeterHerget  2 роки тому +2

      Yes, the hands move out of the way when you're checking data on the LED screen and then they quickly move back to the correct time marks. There are settings to leave the screen on while running, another setting to enable "raise-to wake" and of course every time you press the one button the screen turns on the hour & minute hands move. However, depending on the time of the day, yes, of course there are many times during the day the screen and time don't conflict and you'll be able to tell the time of day and read health/workout data.

      @@PeterHerget Looking forward to it. Wanting to upgrade my GWA2 to something else this Thanksgivinig weekend and this is one that I am considering. I have a Coros Pace 2 for running so I am not too concerned about HR during workouts. Really excited that you picked this up. I also had the Steel HR and liked it but it was underwhelming at the same time. I do have a worry that going from a true smartwatch to the Scanwatch may be a downgrade. However, it may be an upgrade with the health sensors. Hopefully you can help me with these decisions.
      Scanwatch would look good with the suits that I need to wear, then I could switch off to the GWA2 for general around the house wear, and then the Coros for running. But that almost seems like overkill. Maybe the Fenix 6 Pro is the way to go. But as soon as I buy the Fenix 6, Garmin will release the Fenix 7 with the new sensors, touch screen, etc.

    I had the Sport HR and tried the Black background face, but the glare was very difficult to read the hands. I tried the white background face and was able to read the hands much better. Noticed there is still a bit of glare on the watch. Seems like the glass is still domed. How has the sapphire glass been in different light conditions? Also didn't like how both of the Sport HR's mineral glass would pick up small scratches so easily, hoping the sapphire glass works as well as the old Withings models.

      Great, and very pithy comments Motorals - thanks! Yeah, the glass is still domed and there is a bit of a glare. I need to find a neighbor that has a Sport HR or Steel to compare side by side. And yes, my Steel Sport HR has micro scratches too and it was difficult to read. This ScanWatch has many improvements - outdoor readability is one of them and I'll showcase that in my next video going out either tomorrow or early next week. I am still reading and learning about all the ScanWatch offers. I tried the new feature called, "Respiratory Scan" last night and it is logged as 'Breathing disturbances' next and combined with Sleep Analysis, SP02 readings, Irregular Heartbeat alerts, and more. Great Video and nice introduction of the watch. I am thinking to buy this watch. But I have some concern. First I have read somewhere that this watch wants to be enable location for the measurements. Is that true? Can you use it without allow location? Also can you set the off the watch for the continues heart rate measurement and just whenever you like to do it manually? And my last question. As I saw you are having galaxy watch 4. (I am thinking about that also the classic version).Did you compare the two watches? Witch one looks like more accurate in the measurements?Thanks and excuse me for the lots of questions .

    • @PeterHerget
      @PeterHerget  2 роки тому +4

      The Withings ScanWatch does not yet come with stand-along GPS - your iPhone or Android phone must be with you to calculate your route with outdoor workouts
      Running, Cycling, Walking
      The ScanWatch also tracks swimming, and has an indoor workout mode that you can classify a rowing workout or other. As for the continuous HR it is tracking the heart rate all day and night about every five minutes or so. There is not a setting to change that at this time. I find the HR statistics to be as accurate as Garmin, Apple, and Samsung thus far. I am only on Day 13 with the ScanWatch and need a few more weeks of collecting data and then I'll spend several hours analyzing the data and comparing it to Apple, Garmin, Samsung, Oura, and perhaps a few others. And yes, I may do a comparison video using the ScanWatch again another hybrid watch. Comparing the ScanWatch to the Galaxy Watch4 is not a good comparison for they are very, very different timepieces.
