I first heard this song in the early 90's. I was in Seattle commuting to work on the 5 in heavy traffic. The song was on a cassette. I would continuously rewind it and listen to it. Really nice work on this. It brought back a million memories. Peace.
What an absolutely superb version of this fine piece! Your skill is very much appreciated, by someone who has been playing the song for years! Wonderful, sir, truly beautiful, thank you, from the Blues Doctor in Cape Town.
Thank you thank you thank you. My favorite Cockburn song. Have been struggling to play it well for 50 years. May be spending a LOT of time watching this particular video.
oh man.....what great style...I have played this song all my life....its changed a little...lol....but to see you play that is truly a wonderful ride....thumbs up a million times..
Words can't express the happiness I"m experiencing in stumbling onto your cover (s) here on youtube. You should be darned proud of yourself for figuring out this one + all the other Cockburn classics. Only others who painstakenly try to decipher Mr. Cockburn's picking style can appreciate the amount of time/work this must have taken. Many many thanks.
I've been a huge Cockburn fan ever since the first time I heard Water To Wine back in the early eighties. Saw him in a small venue concert in Dallas about 12 years ago. He pissed me off #1 because he wouldn't play anything off the Resume album and then he had the gall to run down my president. So I up and walked out. When I got to the car I said to my wife " I can't believe I just walked out on Bruce Cockburn" Just another day in paradise!! :)
Lovely playing and thanks so much for showing how one should play it. Your video makes it quite a bit easier learning to play the chords of this song. Good singing too.
Sitting here in the afternoon late summer sunshine, after a couple double rum and cokes, lounging at the cottage, after 3 laborious months of renovations, and thoroughly enjoying the hell out of this.
Great job. I love this tune. Thanks for sitting square to the camera and letting us see what you are doing. My Video Surgeon should allow me pick everything up unless you have some tab to go along with this tune.
hi Bruce Magee, thanks a lot! I'm sorry I don't have any tab to share of this great tune. the only one I found was in a BC songbook I bought years ago called: All the diamonds 1969 - 1979. not bad. I made also another clip on Mama solo at a slower speed: y2u.be/lAX-BxnbdxM if it could be of any help...
Hi Bruce Magee, OMG I'm so sorry I didn't write a prompt reply to your nice words. Unfortunately no, I don't have any tab of Mama, sorry. Oh BTW, Merry Christmas!
Excellent performance! Love to learn to play this song kinda like that!!! Cool singing!! Like to acquire TAB for this, or just watch and listen over and over and over...
+Bob Oldfield hi Bob, thanks a lot. glad you enjoy it! I have a friend who recently went to England to see BC. sadly Cockburn said there are some tunes he doesn't play live anymore (say "Bright Sky"...) :-(
+anotherSinger yes, that's kind of a shame, eh? Bright Sky would be awesome !! So I've got down everything from Mama now except your brilliant solo work (which IMHO is note for note as per 'Circles In The Stream' - just magnificent!!) - that will keep this non-jazz player busy for a while!! Thanks again!
Ancora complimenti Domenico
Ciao Domenico Panzarelli, grazie mille, sei molto gentile. 😉
Very Well Done. Thank you for sharing. This may be a lot to ask but by chance do you have this tabbed at all or a possible chord chart? Thanks again, John
Hi Hopeful Guitarist, thank you! Well, the first time I played it, it was hard. It's a matter of patience. If you look more carefully, you will notice I have small fingers, despite that I was able to play it anyway ;-)
Bravissimo @anotherSinger Andrea Luciani. Saluti cordialissimi !
Soluzioni alternative ? Quanto all'esecuzione del pezzo, Andrea, ancora tanto di cappello !
+Howard Sommers Hi Howard, thanks for the "stellar"! about the licks I was wondering if I would be able to record it with two cameras simultaneously (a camera mounted on the guitar headstock and a camera front view). I can't promise :-) but possibly I'll give it a try. again thank you.
Thanks for effort. For you all other Cockburn pickers, check out this neat portable effects amp for acoustic guitars...I mean portable!www.tonewoodamp.com/
A splendid job of a classic Cockburn song.

As a humble early Cockburn wannabee player, I can appreciate how difficult this is to figure out and then play perfectly. Wow. Excellent job!
hi Mark Johnston, thanks, thanks very much! it actually took me years to solve the mama puzzle! :-)
@@anothersingerandrealuciani Just a fabulous rendition of one of my all time favorites. Hard to play, Love that lick at 2:21!
