I feel for you, going home with such a mixed bag of emotions: Happy to see family, it's great to enjoy time with them, but especially to help them, and to encourage them in these difficult times; & the Joy of Graduation! (Congratulations to your little sister!! I have a niece who had her "virtual graduation" too, the other day. It sucks, what has happened with the Virus.) Sheep shearing took me back to growing up on our farm. I remember that - and shearing by hand is Tough work!! Good job!! (I hope you can open your hand!!) I am looking forward to the recipe vlog after the next one!! God bless you and your family, Sierra!! Hang in there! (P.S. The scenery is beautiful out at the camp where your sister had her graduation pictures taken! It must be a special place for you and family. Thank you so much for sharing it with us all!!)

Omg the way the clippers make shearing sheep so easy. My grandma has nothing but GOATS so my 87 year grandpa still shears them for her by hand.

I remember driving to Farmington from Toadlena every weekend for groceries. Long boring drive. And now I have 6 grocery stores within 5 mins of my house. My kids dont know the hardships we had to go through. I wish they had my childhood. It would toughen them up so much.
    Great video.

I loved this vlog Sierra. It was good to see the mountains. I met up with my in-laws in Albuquerque to deliver supplies as well. From there, I stayed with sister and her family for two weeks. It was a much needed trip, and I'm glad you made it there and back to Arizona safely. Stay safe!

That's nice you go back to the rez to help your community. I left in '84 and no desire to return. It took 30 yrs to visit. Seeing the rez from your prospective and working with sheep and goats took me back to my childhood. Wealth comes in many forms. Thank you for sharing.

Hello, Sierra. New subscriber. I’m from Tsaile originally. My wife from Fort Defiance. I read the title and said to my mrs, “let’s check it out”. So here I am. Great to see you helping your family. No explanation needed. My wife has sheared sheep too, she was saying I would’ve been awesome to have them electric clippers. AND she saw roasted flour, I can’t spell/say it in Navajo, lol. But she knows how to make it. She added that your mixture needed more sugar! Lol! I then I saw your family camp area! I so know that place. When we hunt during the fall we camp up. I grew up in them mountains. I really, almost cried. I haven’t been there in sooooo long. I love that well that is right before entering that open meadow. Well... I love your video. It really took me back. Thanks for sharing.

When you were talking about your family and people having to travel over an hour just to get groceries it made me so emotional. As a white person I don’t know all of the struggles you have to go through (and they obviously don’t teach it in school) but watching your videos teaches me a lot. Thank you for posting sending love to you and your family 💕

So Interesting. You are a very good daughter to your Mom. I am curious if your Mom sells the wool or uses it there for weaving. Congrats also to your sister. I know some local kids that had to go through all the changes for their graduation. Kinda rough, but you know they will never forget these crazy times.

Hi Sierra,, I fricken LOVED this vid. 1st of all,, i dont know you or your family, but im dang proud of your little sis for graduating! Thats a huge accomplishment. And im proud of you for going back AND having a load of essentuals with you. Good job Sierra! Personally, i woulda went back weeks ago if the cops and stuff would have let me. Being a non-Native, ive had a soft spot in my heart for Dine people since i was a little kid. The 1st time i read a story about the long march, i bawled my eyes out. I was 8 or 9 i think. Ive read alot of things ,history,, even novels that have helped me appreciate the land and the people. Even though the land is hard, i love it like my own. The trip to the camp,, i could smell everything,,trees,,sage,,dirt,,new grass,,the fire ,,everything. That area was gorgeous! I could easily live there lol Same thing at the shearing. I worked on a ranch a few years when i was a teenager,, and we had 250 cows and about 200 sheep. So ive been there ,done that so to speak. Is wool worth anything this year? I hope it is. Its too hard of work to raise em all year. Back to the graduation,, 3 teams here,,2 here in town and the boys from Lodge Grass made the state championship in basketball and then had it all stolen from them when they shut things down in Montana 5 minutes before the boys class a champ game was to be played. They all got CO-championships 😑🙄🙂😖which is kinda like kissing your sister,,no thrill at all lol. Ive been advocating for a big parade ,,for all the high school bb teams, i mean 3 teams in the championship games is amazing. Last note,, there have few cases on the Crow rez 9 up until today. Today it added 14 more cases. People are not following rules and when they get sick they end up exposing dozens if not hundreds of people. One girl that had it , going everywhere and no thought,, no mask,, nothing exposed over 250 people, another guy worked at the local exxon town pump throughout his sickness. What pisses you off about that dumbass,,is how many older people go there. I think theres gonna be a big surge in cases around here. Anyway ,, thank you Sierrs for a cool,,amazing ,,inspireing video. Ttyl ,,,Marlon the Mtnman lol

Thank you! I hope your town is doing good and not too many people are infected with the virus. As far as wool, they buy for super cheap in the nearby towns, unfortunately.
