Puppeteer animatics by Gigi Wouldn't you like animatic by Ximena Natzel Done For animatic by AnniFlamma There are Other Ways animatic by AnniFlamma
The opening instrumental of Puppeteer is a slowed down lyric instrumental of Full Speed Ahead "Polites gear up. You and I'll go ahead. We should try to find a way no one ends up dead."
I always hear the line "Watch where the birds fly They will lead us to land There we'll hunt for food, my second in command" during that part because Eurylochus is the one who is about to speak right after that riff so i thought it was meant to reiterate that he is the second in command... but honestly the Polities line being what is heard here probably makes more sense because Odysseus is reflecting on the losses they have suffered and wallowing in some guilt.
And a common theme is when the crew and eurylochus doubting odysseus the melody of luck runs out plays. Luck runs out plays in the back while eurylochus was about open up to odysseus. And in a later song in act 2 where eurylochus and odysseus fight the same theme plays.
The line I always think of is "Give me till sunrise, and if we don't return, then 600 men can make this whole place burn." Because they are now on a new island without those 600 men
@@gamerhalim2486Ohh that's why I keep thinking about Luck's Run Out! I recognise the Full Speed Ahead one but not Luck's Run Out and thoughts it's just because of the Eurolycus brain connection and it's so familiar. Thank god I found this comment before i went mad
Fun fact, In the song There are Other Ways, the lyrics were supposed to say 10 long years instead of 12 due to of course Odysseus was at war for 10 years, but Jorge accidentally wrote 12. SO new head canon from Jorge is either Ody was lying, adding more years to appeal to Circe, or he's just bad at numbers. I'm on the latter side lol
There was a headcannon i heard that said that Politese was responsible for the calander for birthdays but now that he's dead nobody really knows which day it is.
Or it could just be that the detours so far had taken a couple dozen months. They were on an oar ship, not an aeroplanes. Sailing takes months, and that’s without a god scattering you about.
Okay literally no one has mentioned it for AnniFlamma's Animatics, but there is a brilliant bit of visual story telling for Circe. She has a ribbon or a bit of Vine, something the she wears as a bracelet through "Done For" and "Other Ways" this is all she has left of one of the Nymphs that they lost to the strangers they previously let live when they came to the Island, we can see it own one's wrist as it's being grabbed by one of the Men. Circe wears it in her memory and to remind her not to trust outsiders. It is why she "...Protects them (the Nymphs) at all costs." We see it again when she begins tempting Odysseus with S*x, and even tells him if " You want to save your men from the fire, show me that you're willing to burn." he has to be willing to submit to the burning lust of another the way she does to protect the Nymphs. the Bracelet is also featured on the shot of the two pulling back and forth, they are fighting over similar things there is so much power both have but they aren't fighting for power but to protect their people and see them safe. Finally the Bracelet is seen when Circe decides to help, and she movers it from her wrist to tying back her hair, she's putting it behind her but still on her mind, She can give others another chance without forgetting the world can be a dark place. There's so much one little detail can bring out visually.
Doesn't that also tie into Odysseus having polites headband wrapped around an arm as well, they both have reminders of those they have lost and why they are fighting for their people who remain.
"I have been in love once before"... Name's Picus. The poor guy was married to a nymph and refused Circe's advances. Because of that, he was transformed in a woodpecker by her.
your sense of memory is INCREDIBLE when it comes to remembering the melodies of previous songs! it’s so fun hearing you compare them and talk about the progression changes and stuff. also chuckling every time you called jorge george. 😭🤣 i am sure he’s used to that mistake, haha! it was so fun hearing you break down the circe saga instrumentals and emotions. your insights are so dang fun!
Crashite's luck runs out is my favorite of the luck runs out animatics, as it has them on the ship while Eurylecus is sowing doubt and shows the men and its very good at showing that "Eurylecus. Not here. Not now. Maybe DONT talk doubt in front of the soldiers against the general??? What are you doing???"
Fun fact: Jorge and Circe's VA started dating during the recording of the musical (I think during? They *are* dating though) 11:48 the imagery of them bringing out a pig on a platter hits different when you know that she turns men into pigs, lol 20:03 another fun thing I found out about from someone elses reaction, at this point in the song (when Hermes appears briefly in the animatic) you can actually hear a Harp in the background, which is his instrument
23:44 iiac, the danger motif is in a triangle progression; it might be easier to spot in 'No Longer You' 30:27 another thing I learned from a different reaction is that Hermes is actually one of the few Greek gods that will actually give blessings or whatever for nothing in return. also he is Circe's ex so that also plays a part in it, lol 32:27 also funny thing about the Final Fantasy allusions, Jorge said that Eurylochus canonically has a Cloud Strife sword, so 50:34 tWelvE lOnG yEaRs

I honestly love seeing you geeking out about this musical!! because this has been me for the last few months! and good catch on the underworld main melody! I know you said you don't really catch all the lyrics, but just a note that the underworld is mostly ody talking to himself so lyrics are about 70% of what is going on
Underworld has already been reacted to and will be uploaded next Monday, same time and place, but my Manager says I did an amazing job with it so I'm sure it's fine!
Any time you have a deity of any sort, their instrument is always accompanied by synths to separate them from the mortal men beneath them on the hierarchy

First In wouldn’t you like Hermes goes: “You must consume and digest it Then you'll manifest a being of your creation All you need's imagination Though it's only for a moment 'Til you've beaten for opponent” And then in the animatic that you watched and it can also kinda be shown in the song lyrics as well but right after Odysseus says “you lost” that was when Circe started to get the upper hand because the herb stopped working because he had “beaten his opponent.” Second Jorge said that in the animatic of Done for, he had wanted Odysseus to summon a cyclops because of what he learned from the cyclops. About how even though he’s slow, when he has a weapon in his hand he can do some serious damage, and that’s why he was only winning when the cyclops had a club type weapon in his hand. He was basically taking what he knew and using it in other aspects. Like how he did in the ocean saga with the wind bag or the lotus fruit with the cyclops itself.

We've told him after all the recording is finished for through Underworld Saga, hence why I figured I'd have my fun with joking about George while we still have it pronounced like that -Mala the editor
Small tidbit is he summons a cyclops to fight her chimera so theres abit of irony in that he uses the vestige of a priorly defeated foe to fight a new one Also it is canon that they summon those as you can hear the cyclops roar and jorge had a canon animation made with a cyclops and chimera
Since I haven’t seen any note of it, I love the double meaning in “Circe’s got you” she’s pulling them into a sense of safety saying “I’ve got you!” But also she’s telling them they’re trapped cuz she’s got them in her control
What’s interesting with the first motif of puppeteer is that it is actually a shared motif that is the prevelanr motif of temalachus’s song legendary. (Odysseus’s son). So maybe the start of the song starts with Odysseus thinking about how his son is doing and that’s why he’s so adamant about dismissing his second in command.
Mircsy’s My Goodbye and Polyphemus animatics are really good! You should check those out as well. Her Warrior of the Mind animatic is good as well, but my fav is definitely the first two.
Oh yeah the "rick roll drum line" if i remember correctly is just a very popular drum progression used in disco music, so I don't necissarily think it was a rick roll reference, but it would be pretty funny XD

After Epic I would recommend SIX the musical. It's fun and a bit shorter, I believe each of the queens has roughly 3 or so artists that inspired them and it's fun to try to figure those out. Also there are several good animatics that go with the songs and in-between parts though I also recommend the live version.
at 5:19, you can hear the melody of "Luck Runs Out", the song where Eurylochus starts questionning Odysseus' leadership, playing on the piano very faintly in the background (I only noticed bc I listen to music with headphones on), which represents Eurylochus' lingering doubt, which is only further amplified when Odysseus is dismissive of him.
Puppeteer: I believe the sequence is a call back to just a man. Wouldn't you like: Is my favorite, but doesn't have a best animatic. Hermes is summarized as the messenger god, but I think that means all aspects. Done for: Chimera vs Polyphemus, I don't recall if Odysseus projected him or not There are other ways: 12yrs, the horse and the infant said the war was 10yrs. So they have been at sea for 2yrs already for a 10 day journey. Also notice how Circe and Odysseus said there's no puppet here, but then begs let us puppets leave. Underworld Saga: I love all three and have trouble picking a favorite. The Underworld by TheeArteest No Longer You by Krieo Monster by gigi other: Just a man by gigi (for monster) Warrior of the mind by mircy (I like the artist's detail, also has animatics for other songs) (might as well add My Goodbye and just a man) Luck runs out by Jen (would recommend Crashite's and his Keep your friends close but he cuts it off) Keep your friends close by Ximena Natzel
If you can pick one Greek god to be in your corner, and not screw you over, its Hermes. Unlike the other Greek Gods, Hermes is the most in touch with humanity, being the God of travel, poetry, sport, and trade. The other Gods don't deserve the power they have, with how they treat mortals they need for worship. Hermes on the other hand will ride or die if he thinks what your doing can troll a God.
Bit of a necro here, but at 39:30 when she calls him out about hermes, they actually made it less funny than in the original, because in Homers version, Hermes gave Odysseus the moley, then immediately went and told circe that he had given it to him, and sat back with a metaphorical bucket of popcorn to watch the drama unfold like the incredible shit-stirrer that he is haha

I still love that the entire Epic fandom collectively decided that everyone is taller the Odysseus, we love a short king, literally
Short king for life!
Pretty sure almost all of the epic cast are taller than Jorge, so...
It's hilarious because it's because everyone's taller then Jorge and he himself has made a joke out of it 😂
Apparently this fits Homer's canon as well. I've heard tell that he specifically said Odysseus is short.
Fun mythological fact: Hermes invented the lyre, so that's why Jorge chose a harp for the instrument that represents Hermes.
Getting rickrolled by Hermes? Can't even be mad, it's a vibe 💃🕺

Warrior of the mind by mircy (I like the artist's detail, also has animatics for other songs) (might as well add My Goodbye and just a man)
Luck runs out by Jen (would recommend Crashite's and his Keep your friends close but he cuts it off)
Keep your friends close by Ximena Natzel
My favorite animatic would be mircsy's My Goodbye. Just really love how dramatic it was to me.
I'll give you a hint about the "danger motif." The danger motif is only two notes.
It's more than 2 notes though
Thx for the reaction
“Ulysseuses” 😂
I'm terrible with names!
@@sunoshecano3837 An easy way to remember it is "You really cuss" because he's a sailor.
i dont understand everything you're saying but i feel like im learning a lot lol
The opening bit was a callback to the end of full speed ahead, i think after oddyseus says 'watch where the birds fly!' just incase u don't know
If you can pick one Greek god to be in your corner, and not screw you over, its Hermes.
21:05 Funnily enough, Ulysses is the Latin form of Odysseus.
I ALSO THOUGHT OF CARMEN WHEN I HEARD THIS FOR THE FIRST TIME I love that you caught that ((I DIDNT catch the rick roll lmaooo))
It was Chimera not just a lion
Note to editor: LOL 😂
i loved the rivoting break
Fun fact: Odysseus is related to Hermes
44:52 What riveting content.
That riveting was riveting
Thank you, it was absolutely the most riveting editing I've ever done -Editor Mala
IM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO NOTICED THE RICK ROLL 💀
I've seen that you stream on twitch, do you also stream UA-cam? Or is that some conflict of interest? Also, love your insights on these songs, I never would've noticed the Rick roll. 😄 🤣
I am toying with starting streams on UA-cam. My computer is not the best so I'm experimenting with multi streams!
Ok, thank you!
I had a feeling you'd really appreciate Wouldn't You Like
I will admit that I also thought his name was George but with a j. In my defense I'm white and I'd only ever seen his name spelled once I heard it I realized my mistake.
Hold onto your butts
Definitely shouldn't call it a Calypso beat in a story about the odyssey /j
I knooow. The irony is not lost on me!!!
Why does nobody ever also do Puppeteer by Ximena Natzel? Gigi is amazing, but it makes more sense to do them both in a row if you're doing one of them?
Ximena's Puppeteer is seriously underrated, I love it
@@liminalpsych I know! I love the part where she has the string around Eurylochus's throat like Circe planned it all!
It has been added to the list of animatics to react to!
@@sunoshecano3837 Thank you so much!!!
