Thank you for this video. Super helpful for a situation where I thought I screwed up. Actually doing this on my third barrel of yours.
Miss the videos every week. Glad this one exists. Installed a gas block this AM. Thanks Clint.
Split on the split pin facing up! Great tip!
Nice vid guys, keep em coming. Now about this starter punch for that tiny gas pin, where do I find myself one?
If you're buying one, just buy a set of roll pin punches and standard punches. They are incredibly handy to have around for a variety of firearms. I got mine from Snap-on, but there are other good manufacturers too. Just don't cheap out. Cheap punches are prone to breaking and bending.
I've got several sets of punches but not a starter punch for either the gas tube or bolt catch pins. Matco, Mayhew and Wheeler brands. The video he mentioned I can't find regarding the 2s starter punch...
We order ours from Brownells.
Such great instruction. Thanks.
My Ballistic Advantage barrel came pinned but NOT dimpled. So when I try to drive the pin through, the gas block is spinning. And I have the set screws torqued to hell. Any tips? Besides “just dimple the barrel”. I don’t have the correct tools to dimple. Ballistic Advantage should factory dimple the barrel. Why would they do half the job?
Can you install the gas tube into the gas block before installing the block?
So I have a Ballistic Advantage barrel, and all Aero Precision everything else. Come to find out recently that BA is a sister company of Aero. Great thing. So now knowing what I'm working with, I'm now obsessing with trying to get no resistance with the gas tube protrusion in the receiver and the carrier/gas key alignment. Using a stripped carrier, and the gas block assembly (with tube) installed perfectly vertical, which was professionally dimpled 180deg from gas port, I can't quite get the carrier to stop making a "clicking" sound when engaging the gas key. I have read various ways to remedy this, one being pushing or pulling up or down on the tube with the potential of bending it the correct way. Can you explain this fix further, and maybe explain just how important this is? I'm afraid I might be obsessing over a "problem" that 99% of AR's have. Thanks!
M Shehan ever get your problem fixed. I'm curious myself
Ok I call bullshit. He taps the roll pin in with 5 easy hits. I’ve been banging on mine, got it started 6/8’s of the way in and now it won’t go in the last 2/8’s no matter how hard or how many times I hit it. My pin did not go in as easy as his.
I know that feeling. Some don't go in as easily as others.
Cool, working on my second ba build and this will be my first fsb. Btw, awsome deal with the free reciver when you buy the barrel! Much appreciated!
Glad to hear it!
