    * Find out what they are passionate and focus only on those few things
    * Find out the competitive advantage of you; focusing on that to minimise your risk

Boy, this is like watching my philosophy teacher, talking for people and things he just read from the books, and is nothing similar himself. I would suggest, for these kind of things, go/listen to the real thing...
1 - Getting good grades at school doesn't really mean you are smart, it means you put the time to reproduce the books on the exams. Entrepreneurs I know, are quite smarter then the rest.
2 - Individuals also work in a team, But a team from individuals is much different then a team of followers. This is why it causes also bigger tensions, because of the strong individualism and opinions. It's also very powerful, and such people can achieve a lot if they stick together. Good example is Id Software for both points.
3 - A lot of qualities are of course made, but the core is a passion, an individualism, a drive, which are there, and this is why the school provokes just a rebellion, not a tool to made you something...
4 - The risk is taken, because of the passion and the drive to do something. It's neither "computed", nor just for the sake of it.
5 - I think the passion itself and the example create the charisma. On personal level, it varies, and the person by himself, may be not charismatic, but his ideas make him like this.
6 - Again, school wisdom. When a person follows his passion, he works hard, and do whatever he can, without the need of intentional self-discipline. Discipline in its true meaning, is required when you follow some external rules. When you do what you really want, this world has no meaning, it's result happens by itself.

A quick Google search shows that he got an engineering degree from Harvard, and he played professional basketball. Then, after working for 25 years at IBM, he became a three-time entrepreneur, he raised over $100M, he wrote a book, and he now teaches at MIT. He can walk the walk.

Team research very misleading, in my opinion. Size of team may not really be the variable being measured, proxy for something else that varies with team size such as wealth available to the project immediately, bigger referral base for fundraising, etc.

how can I become more disciplined.. this is my true downfall... especially as a single father of two young children.

gumption, is the willingness to endure difficulty. staying single-minded makes goals easy, and all decisions plain and simple. it may alienate those around you though. depends on how much you want something. Having a goal makes anything, and all setbacks, easy to endure.

I might add that you can motivate to do anything once you've care the right resolve. Being a single father, if you truly love your kids then you can use the idea of helping them succeed in later life to push you in the now. You just have have be willing to fight for something greater than yourself. All true perseverance is is having the resolve to push yourself towards pushing yourself a step closer to your goal every single day; your resolve is so fundamentally important though because it determines why you're going to get back up when knocked down, or why you're going to keep pushing even if the odds seemed stacked against you; that's discipline. Here's a motivating thought: every time you feel like giving up, think of your kids & think of the future you're going to create not just for yourself but for them; I bet if you do that you won't give up. Find that strength within. =)

You obviously don't have the execution skills of a navy seal 6 as you wrote disciplined instead of undisciplined
