The more vertical style grip Tikka offers helps this gun a bunch. I put mine in a KRG Bravo with a bolt handle extension from Anarchy Outdoors and it is fantastic. The Tikka now handles great, looks great and will stack 10 rounds of Tac 22 under a quarter. Very happy with mine.
Are these the same after market grips used for for the T3X ?
@craigverner3866 yes. The factory t3 accessories fit the t1x.
@@chrispickens7569 thank you for confirming 👍
Thank you for this video - very helpful. I’m choosing between CZ 457 Varmint and Tikka. After this video I think I’ll go with T1X
That’s what I did since CZ 457 availability is non existent. The trigger in the tikka is the best of the best.
Nice thorough review
Awesome video! Much love from Arizona!
Nice I LOVE my T1X. Hope you get to shoot this month.
I'm not 100% sure but I think your barreled action isn't properly installed in the stock. It's very easy to tighten the action screws even though the recoil lug isn't lined up perfectly with the action. If you look at photos of other rifles you'll notice that your barreled action has a slight upward angle relative to the stock.
Good looking out. I took a look at it and when I took it out earlier to get some inside stock photos, it wasn't set back in correctly, like you said.
I do not shoot match but I am looking at this rifle for field walking, small game and plinking. Probably 16" barrel with a MD to add a bit of weight for balance without adding too much length. I do wish they had a wood stock option. Nice review.
Any “takeoff” stock sold used for a t3/t3x will bolt right on!
Nice rifle 🇺🇸👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for informative video. I have a CZ 452 and a Tikka T3X in 308. From your experience would you recommend this over my CZ? The Tikka interests me now after I found out it is very similar to my 308 I hunt with and thought it might be good to train with and squirrel hunting. Thank you.
Yes, the T1x is a solid rifle. If you want to mirror your T3x, then the T1x is a good way to go.
A 3D printed cheek piece or something similar is all the T1X is really missing.
Good review. How much speed/accuracy would you lose, going with the 16" barrel? If I get one of these rifles, it would be for hunting, so the shorter barrel is appealing.......especially if you one day decide to add a supressor.
Thanks
A 16" should have faster muzzle velocity than a 20". Had I known the Tikka T1x barrel would be this slow, I would have likely opted for a 16". Although, I prefer the 20" for balance. Should be no difference in accuracy.
Why us20” the one you want to go with? With a .22 or the optimum length is recommended at 16” or under ? Because longer than 16” then the .22 or bullet starts to slow down
16" might result in faster muzzle velocity, but faster MV doesn't necessarily equal optimal. As more interest has been placed into precision rimfire in the past several, especially at longer ranges beyond 100 yards, longer barrels have been found to have lower SD. Furthermore, match ammo has been tested in longer barrels (24" to 26") and performance measurements at the factory have been based on such barrels and the velocities achieved on those.
I'm having trouble obtaining a picatinnny rail to go on the tx1. could you tell me where you got yours?
Area419
could you try some RWS high volocity ammo with the Tikka T1x MTR 20
Is the 16 inch barrel more or less accurate than a 20 inch barrel for the tikka t1x ? I herd the 20 inch brings down the velocity of the round
From a mechanical standpoint, no, barrel length shouldn't affect accuracy. Should be equal.
My understanding is that the shorter 16” barrel is better for 100+ yards.
Why 20 inches barrel and not the 16?
Balance. Don't want the rifle back heavy. Also, generally a 16" barrel has higher muzzle velocity and a 20" is better to be true to ammo spec. However, had I known the Tikka barrel is shooting so slow, this is negated.
can you please tell me a little more about your bipod
The Ckye-Pod? It's just a Ckye-Pod Standard Gen 2 with an RRS clamp. www.ocabj.net/mdt-ckye-pod-gen-2-bipod-review/
