Gardenia, jasmine, lilac and rose are my very favorite perfumes as well as frankincense and myrrh, the fragrances of the Three Kings or Wise Men of Orient.

WOW! This was really fantastic! I also recently found out that Marie Antoinette's favorite flower was a simple little amazing smelling wildflower called Dame's Rocket! It smells like Carnations and grows in my garden but is never sold anywhere! Always enjoy your nostalgic vids LauraJane!

Violets is a beautiful memory for me in 1979 when I was 7 years old when my gran would put a few drops on her handkerchief.

I love sandalwood, coconut, vanilla, rose, peony, any floral, musk. My favorite floral scented perfume would have to be lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker

This video thus far is my favorite that you have done! It was exceptionally edited with fabulous photos of paintings and movie clips! I love ❤️ the fashion of Marie Antoinette and am convinced that I lived during that time as well as Ancient Egypt! Even my house is decorated in French Provincial furniture! Like you I have studied Queen Maria Antoinette’s life and in the end she most definitely was a victim of fake news! If you haven’t already view the original Hollywood version from the 1930’s starring Norma Shearer! It really is more authentic than the Kirsten Dunst version!

I never believed she had done all thus hateful and inconsiderate things i believe she was blamed for her husbands lack of experience and culture differences. Im almost positive she was a great person to bow her head infront of a nation and appologise for stepping on the toes of her executioner? There was more to this amazing queen

Marie Antoinette wasn't a great person or anything, but she certainly got a bad rap. Being raised in Austria and then getting sent to France at 14 had to be a system shock. She was raised with being bathed regularly (at least for the time) and suddenly she was surrounded by people who thought "Once a year is enough. Don't want to weaken the humors." Her desire for strong perfume is understandable. Still, she should've had more discretion and wisdom. You don't buy expensive perfumes when your entire country is starving. The entire situation was bad for everyone. But, hindsight is always 20/20. At least she will essentially live forever now through fame or infamy, and most of us will never achieve such long lasting popular culture impact. We can all keep trying though. 😘❤

To be fair she had ZERO actual power. Her role was to stand as a doll beside the king, and represent her country’s opulence.

@@-MaryPoppins- and give birth. That was like the biggest scandal that she didn’t get pregnant right away even though she was 15!!! And had her first kid by 22 which is pretty reasonable tho still pretty young in todays standard so if anything they were pretty ahead of their time for acknowledging that they were just kids and weren’t ready for sex. Some think that they literally didn’t know how since sec education was poor at the time and royals were always raised super sheltered and religious. Such interesting stuff!

I think she was a great person. She was a humanitarian and set the precedent for many royals to donate and participate in activism.

I always thought she embodied the Christian Dior scent Miss Dior Cherie. The bottle, notes, everything, just screams Marie Antoinette to me. Notes of strawberry, caramel popcorn, jasmine, patchouli. Unfortunately they have discounted the scent but dupes can still be found.

That stuff was sugary sweet like candy. I can imagine her in something sweet and animalic like vintage Bal a Versailles by Jean Desprez

Hi Laura - GREAT research on MA's fragrances -thank you!
Do you have a few favorite fragrances you often wear?
Mine would be Paloma, Je Reviens and Dioressence.
I loved visiting my grandmother's house. She had apple blossom bath crystals that seemed to scent the whole house - lovely!
