After half an hour of this country's best area and your fantastically calming commentary I'm feeling much better now. Thanks !!! We absolutely love that part of South Devon and try and get down there every other year, just the best (but don't tell anyone). Coleton Fishacre is also an amazing place, with a name like that it sounds rubbish but what a place, both house and gardens. Thanks for sharing your lovely day sailing around the Dart etc. again. 👍
As always, this is a great video to watch. For the first few seconds of the video, I thought, "It's not gonna be better than this, is it?" What a splendid scenery. And, like always: great footage of a tranquil day out. The idea of keeping the boat in the water is good. 'Boxing Day Sailing' would be great. (Done that a few years back. It adds to the atmosphere of the Festive Season).
Like you I've decided to keep my boat in the water this winter for the same reasons, already had 3 days out in November on the Solway Firth with the hope of more to come.
I do enjoy your relaxed peaceful video's. Your gradual improvements are making 'Morning Vicar' a very usable little craft. Topsides are starting to look a little tired....being super critical. 😏
Wonderful video, your best yet! So chilled. We were in the boatyard in Blackness on Sunday, taking down the mast for winter, wishing we were still on the water like you. Q: is your pontoon in Galmpton run by Dolphin Boatyard? And 2nd Q: now i see you have electric hook-up on the pontoon, surely the Vicar will be wanting an electric engine next? Thanks. It was a great day. The pontoons are run by Dolphin Boatyard, they own the whole site at Galmpton now. I’ve thought about an electric motor and have a few ideas, but not enough time atm to pursue them.

No problem 👍 The tiller clutch is excellent, well worth the rather steep cost. I chose a Garmin, can't remember exactly which model just now but there will be a video coming soon.
Yes. Depends on how the mast is supported. Single backstays get in the way with a gaff rig, so if they are needed, running backstays (one on each side) are rigged. The mast on the Shrimper is quite short and the shrouds are aft of the mast base. This makes it really stable.
@ thanks for your reply. I used to be first officer on a three mastered Tallship and we would use then when going with the wind. Thanks again for your information as I may go your way if a build a small 24 foot yacht with a gaff rig.

No withys needed, if there is 2m at greenway quay, there is enough water in Galmpton creek to float. The whole of the creek is pretty flat

It's the Kingswear Castle, Britains only working coal powered paddle steamer. available for river trips on the Dart.

Thanks for watching, yes she dries out about for a couple of hours on most tides. well i say dries, its the wetest, softest mud you can imagine.

Where were did you start from
We started from Galmpton Quay, half way up the Dart, opposite Ditisham.
