They had to get a good future QB when they could. They passed on Fields and with Kirk they know chances of getting a top tier QB again are slim. There's no controversy, it's Kirks job to lose not Penix's to win

What the heck are you taking about! No elite weapons! Are you living in the same world everyone else is? He had two premier OT in Darrisaw & O’Neill for the past 3 years. He had Dalvin Cook who for several years was considered a top 5 RB. He had Diggs & Thielen and then Thielan & JJ, and then JJ & Addison. In case you don’t remember with the exception of an injury plagued 2019 season, AT had almost 70 receptions in 6 out of the final 7 years with the Vikings and this past season he had 103 receptions & 1014 yards with Carolina. KC also had a top TE in Kyle Rudolph or TJ for most of his tenure.

    • @JWLSports

He played great with those weapons. I said consistently having weapons and with a good coach. One of his years with a good weapon was with a bad defensive coach.

Uhhh....also a bottom 5 defensive, a bottom 3 inside oline and a center that got forklifted into the pocket passing cousins.
Lol- if Kirk had what dak had/ has - lol.
      Fun fact :
Cousins passer rating without dalvin cook = 95
      without = 105.
Ask any receiver who has played with kirk. His game is to distribute the ball to all. KOCs mistake as a 1st time head coach was forcing the ball to JJ. If Kirk stayed in minny , this would've been year jj got his 2k but naturally. Finally a decent oline with darrishaw and O'Neil healthy at same time.
Flores stayed. The vikings do everything backwards. Kirk wasn't a polished top 10 qb when he first came to minny . After alot of punishment, he is now.
Really interested to see how all this shakes out .My only hedge is the achillies and will it be 100%.

First time watching this channel....probably gonna be the last....the glaring love for Kirk, a QB that has done nothing but pad his stats and pockets is beyond belief...Kirk's first your with us was a NFC championship team..Kirk has had awesome teams around him...but his problem is he wants to play statue of liberty ball....he wants to stand in 1 stop and deliver the ball....I hate to break it to you..THAT NFL IS GONE....

@@Gnothe1 hate to break it 2 you and already mentioned this but yes once upon a time ago even I called Kirk " happy feet" cuz but you get better especially, in spite of the toxic Mike zimm, from the year before KOC came to town under the first time he had an oc back 2 back years under kubiak ( clint).
That was his com8ng out year as a team leader and a top 10 QB . He's gotten percentages better every year and it's hard to believe that alot of people don't see it.
We'll see- I guess everybody is where they're supposed to be .

Yea what is Adam S talking about? That first sentence he made cracked me up. If Pennix lights it up. Lights it up where? Preseason? Okay good, I hope so.
Agree with you, unless Kirk is just beyond horrible, like 6 INTs amd 2 TD in 2 games, then you start to talk about bringing in Pennix.
YES!!! Let Pennix sit for at least a year. Good or bad. Let him be a sponge to Cousins bring a professional.
To piggyback on your last point which I said in a comment earlier, it’s takes time!!! Like relax. Haha same with Caleb. Soo many people expect these QBs to come flying our day 1.

    • @JWLSports

Start the best performing player. The object is to win games and put the best players on the field. Likely Cousins starts given his experience and talent. But if Penix is significantly better, not even or maybe, but truly better then you need to play him. I really don't get why people are conflicted. Last year Miles Sanders got paid a lot of money to move from Philly after a career year. He sucked. They played Chubba. Were there people melting down? Was anybody really saying how could you play Hubbard when you gave Sanders all this money? Nope.

Look at what the Panthers gave up to get Bryce. Look at what the 49ers gave up to get Trey Lance. The Jets for Zach Wilson. You can set your franchise back years like we did also by not having a succession plan at the most important position in the game. We won't end up like the Jets who wasted an entire season after the first drive with Aaron Rogers. We have a starter and a back up. The rest of the pieces are easy to fill when your franchise is set up to have to pay your quarterback $300,000,000 as the pay keeps going up.

@@JWLSports if you are saying Cousins makes the falcons a playoff team and or possible contender, their draft position is at the back half of the first Rd. Given the ramifications of the tampering you probably are going to lose a high draft pick or picks. So when are you going to pick high enough to get an elite QB prospect again?

The problem with Atlanta is, they took a flawed method from Green Bay that did not produce Super Bowls. Green Bay was screaming to get Aaron Rodgers playmakers instead they did other stuff and one of those other stuff was getting quarterback. This method did work, however, to keep them competitive, but ultimately lose in the first or second round of playoffs.

Bullshit Kirk Cousins hasn't played in this offense for 3 years. This is a BRAND NEW OFFENSIVE SCHEME, so painting him like he knows this offense and Penix Jr has to learn it, is false. Kirk Cousins has a 2 month head start on Penix Jr, but Penix Jr will probably get the most preseason work at the 1.

Pretty sure they know what the penalty is as the Falcons CEO, Rich McKay, who is the chairma of the NFL Competition Committee so pretty sure he knows something is gonna happen witht the tampering. Maybe they lose a couple of picks and Kirk gets suspended or something. Idk. Both parties at fault. Kirk knew what he was doing to get more money from the Vikings and control. Everybody knows not to tamper. Just depends if you don't get caught.

They typically do if the game is out of hand. But you’re right. It’s not super common. And they don’t do it in the middle of games because each qb has his own report, cadence, flow, chemistry, etc. It will throw off the offense way more than it can help.

huh? Dude wasn't even the starter in DC, RG3 was. Owner was in love with RG3. Minnesota had Mutiple coaches and coordinators, turnstile O lines, in-and-out running game and piss poor defenses. I guess having one great receiver makes up for all that especially since they won games anyway when that receiver was hurt.

Respectfully, the Falcons, “invested”, a guaranteed $100 million dollars in a 35-year old veteran quarterback who’s coming off of an Achilles injury. Rather than asking whether or not he’ll start, why isn’t anybody asking if he’ll even be able to play? If he can’t, then it’s a good thing that the Falcons hedged their bet with a young, capable, but inexperienced back-up.

It is highly unlikely that Michael Penix will 'light it up' as Adam Shefter suggests might occur. Nonetheless, there is a large support group of Black NFL players and coaches and Black commentators who are hoping for another outstanding Black QB. I am uncertain why this is the case, because 75% of the NFL are Black athletes, but the Black QB is to the NFL what Moby Dick is to Captain Ahab. The bottom line is that Kirk Cousins is a 12 year, proven top 10 QB. Penix has a long, long way to go before anyone can say that about him. Is there a pathway for Atlanta to screw up their Kirk Cousins signing. Absolutely, continue to hype up the play of Penix and create a QB controversy when none should exist.
