Not sure why Simms keeps pushing this continued false narrative on Cousins not having a strong arm. He had one of the fastest timed throws in combine history, when quarterbacks were timed actually having to throw catchable passes to receivers. Before the combine started timing them throwing passes into a padded wall, from 6-10 feet away. Since entering the league, Cousins has only increased his arm strength and is one of the hardest throwers in the game. He has elite, top 3 arm talent and can consistently make throws, like the out-route pass to Jefferson, that traveled about 23 yards in the air, on a frozen rope, in overtime, against the Bills in 2022, where he was falling backward and had to throw the pass off of his back foot, that maybe 2 other quarterbacks (Allen and Mahomes) have both the arm strength and accuracy to complete. While he may not be Mahomes, he's surprisingly good at off platform passes and has been one of the best deep passers in the league, since he's become a full-time starter. He's also more athletic than Simms is giving him credit for. He should be ranked a lot higher than #12. Not sure what Simms is looking at.
I think Kirk is a top 10 QB. He immediately came into Minnesota and had great years there. He’s not a top 5 guy but he’s better than some of these guys above him.
Don't count him out he may very well be a top 5. He was on a pace to be the runaway MVP last season and is on a pace to rewrite the record books for career 4th quarter comebacks. During his time in the league he is second to only Rodgers. If you compare his stats to Josh Allen he blows him away.
he’s played for the redskins and the vikings... look at their defensive rankings over the last decade. give the man a fucking defense and see what he does.
Well Atlanta just wasted a first rounder on a qb who won’t play instead of someone who can help the defence. So idk if Atlanta will be good on defence.
I have a love-hate relationship with Kirk. First of all he has a strong arm; he was clocked at 59 MPH I believe at his combine. His Load-to-Release (LTR) appears a little slow though; I don’t have a number but my eyes are saying around 0.4 based upon comps. (Josh Allen is 0.38 and he’s definitely quicker.). It’s only a guess though. His Time-to-Throw (TT) number is a little high; last time I checked I think it was 2.88 where “perfect” is considered 2.5. He’s not very mobile and sometimes, between his lack of mobility, TT and LTR numbers, he gets strip-sacked, particularly in situations where the defense knows he has to throw. He does have very good numbers and I believe he has around a 3 on his TD-2-INT ratio and his completion percentage is usually high 60s, from memory. His playoff record is really poor though - 1-2 or 1-3? - and I think it would be better if he was more mobile. To me he’s an absolute mixed bag. Technically very good quarterback. When it counts, not so much. But if Cousins were a mobile QB he’d be unstoppable.
Kirk is a top 10 qb and gets better every year. As long as injury heals 100%, he'll get better this year and the next -- not your normal 35 year old qb. KOC learned a few things too late ...they didn't need to force the ball to jefferson. Cousins would've found jefferson - naturally - this year for close to 2k. That's Kirk's game - breaks down defense and spreads the ball. The falcons have receivers that separate and an actual running game and an actual stud o-line ( yes vikes have the tackles and now a decent oline...Bradbury better last year but still ?? ). Expect a big year from Cousins. Pff wise, maybe even top 5. Fantasy , idk , he's not throwing the ball 46x a game like in minny but still a pretty big year.
Why isn't Kirk right next to Tua and Purdy? What does he do that's so much better that he's 5-6 spots higher than those two? Like the description between Kirk and Brock are almost exactly the same except Brock is a bit more mobile.
So much disrespect. Kirk was playing at an MVP level when he was injured. They both said he had a so-so game against the Chiefs because of the Spagnola defense. I beg to differ. Kirk may not have had a tremendous game like he did against the 49ers but he threw for 259 yards 2 touchdowns and no interceptions. If you do that 4 out of 5 games you are a first ballot Hall of Famer. There were also some key drops by the Vikings receivers and two horrendous calls that cost the Vikings the game. And if my memory serves me correctly there was no Justin Jefferson that game. When you compare all the quarterbacks since 1947 to the average quarterback of their era as I have, you will find that on a per season basis Cousins is the 18th best quarterback with over 8 years in the league in the last 77 years.
Simms conveniently leaves out, that Jefferson injured his hamstring in the Chiefs' game and wasn't available on the last 2 drives and didn't play at all in the Bears game.
So there is no way in hell Minnesota skill players as a whole are better than Atlanta's skill players. I like JJ. I think he is a stud. But he isn't a Julio Jones or Terrell Owens....Meaning they so dominate, it dont matter who you put opposite Jones or Ownes your offense is on 100 vs the other team. Addison isn't better that London. He wasn't in college and he still isn't now. And JJ isn't better than Pitts. I know what I saw with my own two eyes from Pitts his rookie season with a weak armed Matt Ryan. I can't wait till these boys destroy Defenses this yr. Handing out crazy work!!!
I think Simms nailed it. To me, when I watch Cousins, he has this mechanical throwing motion where you can tell almost exactly when the ball will come out. Now I’m sure that DBs tee off on that sometimes. Cousins is really accurate so he probably gets away with it a lot. But when he drops back and hits that back foot it’s almost like I can tell exactly how long it will be until the ball comes out. But if he changed up his release just a bit it would be harder to read.
Kirk gave us four huge market primetime games. I’m happy we got him AND Penix. So pumped

Thank you for this. I love Kirk and I feel like we would be friends through our love for kirk

Especially Dak and Trevor haven’t seen it enough from them to put him over Kirk

And an O-Line. The man did not have an offensive line for most of his time on the Vikings. It was painful to watch
You out Kirk on the 9ers the last five years and they have 3 super bowls. Change my mind.
He’s a top 10 QB. Smart, tough, and competitive. Gives the Falcons instant credibility over the last 2 years of total ineptitude at the QB position.
Kirk deserves to win this year just for that KFC commercial alone
Never forget Chris Simms had a career 12:18 td to interception ratio
Why does Chris have to go through a list of what Cousins is not.
Mention what he does well. Cousins is an extremely accurate passer

Simms always underrates Kirk
Kirk is in a team who teams would be fine against teams who want to play tight man. Those games the run game will take over games

Kirk “one career playoff win” Cousins 😂
Alls he did was critique him the whole time

Kirk has a much stronger arm, is more accurate, gets through reads quicker which is why
Cousins so high? They nust be high lol😂
