  • Mugnify Reacts To Neil Diamond's live performance of "Sweet Caroline" is absolutely amazing. The energy in the crowd is electric, and you can feel the anticipation building as the backup singers and saxophone join in. The song has a motivational aspect to it, and the vocals are soulful and heartfelt. It's a classic song that everyone should listen to, and I can't believe I've been missing out on the complete version. Don't forget to like, subscribe, and share your thoughts in the comments!

One of music's best singer-songwriters and performers ever: 130 million albums sold, numerous awards, attendance records broken wherever he performed worldwide. And one of the most distinctive voices in pop/rock music. Great review! Not his best song, but one that took a whole new dimension when the whole world started singing along.

One of my favorite singer songwriters spanning many decades. I had so many of his records. He had tons of hit songs. "I Am, I Said", "Cherry, Cherry", "Kentucky Woman", "Red Red Wine", "Solitary Man", "Holly Holy", "Cracklin' Rosie", "Song Sung Blue", "Longfellow Serenade", "Forever In Blue Jeans", "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" etc. He wrote the song "I'm A Believer" which became a big hit for the Monkees in 1966. I was privileged to see him in concert twice. He was a great showman & his live performances were memorable.

I host Karaoke in a Pub in Michigan & this is a favorite because everyone loves to sing the chorus & when he sings 'Sweet Caroline' & the music goes bom bom bom, the people in the audience sing the words bom bom bom really loud. It makes it into a party song. Neil has some great music. I saw him in concert, probably 8-10 years after this. He was older & still great. Check out 'America', 'Holly Holy, 'Cherry, Cherry', 'I am I said' or' Cracklin' Rosie' to name a few.

Watching this video I was wondering how to describe what he does with his voice in some places, such as “[reaching] out” and “I’ve [been inclined]”. I think it’s best described as a growl. And you’re right, he can also roar like a lion. I only got to see him twice in concert but I’m grateful for those memories.

Neil Diamond is a legendary singer/songwriter from 1966 - 2017. He was a "hit making machine". I have seen him 22 times in concert .. all shows were in the PNWest @ the Key Arena in Seattle, WA. Neil's catalog of music is extensive. Any song from his "Hot August Night" Double LIVE album from 1972 is definitely a must do to get a real taste of his vocal range.
This video was recorded live at the BBC in 1971. He put on a mini concert sorta speak. There are a few more tunes from this show that you could react to .. #Solitary Man .. #Holly Holy .. #I Am .. I Said .. #Brother Loves Traveling Salvation Show {Neil takes ya to church} and so on.
    Definitely MORE NEIL DIAMOND .. 60's .. 70's .. 80's .. studio versions before LIVE

    • @terri2494
      @terri2494 11 місяців тому +1

You saw him in concert 22 times?!!! I’m so jealous! But I’m grateful to have attended two of his concerts.
I agree with everything you said except for one thing. If I remember correctly it was watching this BBC show performance of “Brother Love’s . . .” that I was a little disappointed. Not with Neil, but with the polite British television studio audience. He didn’t get the energy from the audience that he usually does in his live performances. He was also still developing his confidence so without that feedback from the audience I think he held back a little. I’m not sure which live performance I would recommend. Definitely one from the seventies.
I saw a video that actually showed some of the blurbs from critics on the “Hot August Night” album (the original from 1972). Some of them seemed to agree that those concerts were a game changer. In August he did ten sold out shows at the Greek Theater, the seventh of which was recorded for the album. Too bad they only recorded the audio, but even without the video you can tell what a great performer he was. His stage manager, Lee Holdridge, later said that Neil had been nervous and shy about performing prior to that. It was the first time he’d seen him confident on stage.
That’s why I recommend a live version of “Brother Love’s . . .” from after August of 1972, but still in the seventies, before he’d sung it a thousand times. I don’t recommend the version from the “Hot August Night” album because he goes from “Soolaimon” directly into the middle of the song and you miss that great opening that starts slow and builds the momentum (“Hot August night and the leaves hanging down . . .”).
And yes, studio versions before live!

I've been a fan for more than 40 years. He's from Brooklyn and sang in the high school chorus with fellow student Barbra Streisand (someone else you should react to - she has a phenomenal voice). He writes all his own music. He has a lot of great songs including Cracklin' Rosie, Play Me, I Am I Said, Forever in Blue Jeans, Holly Holy, Beautiful Noise, Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show, America, and You Don't Bring Me Flowers (his duet with Barbra Streisand).

Neil was born in Brooklyn NY
He is Jewish and like many Jews, he headed to the deep south during the Civil Rights were going on to
defend the blacks of Mississippi. While he was there, someone invited him to go to a black tent revival.
He wrote a song titled Brother Loves Traveling Salvation Show.
Now suffering from Parkinson's, he can no longer sing, but in his day, he was a great song writer, singer
    and actor.

I liked what you said about honest songs from men who were comfortable sharing their feelings about falling in love or being in love. I’ve seen other reaction videos where people made similar comments about men (singers) from the sixties and seventies being so open about their love for their wife or girlfriend or someone they loved from afar. I like the way you expressed that observation.

You mention horns, I used to play the trumpet in 6th and 7th grade. I realized when The Clef was filled with sharps, flats and all, along with triple tonguing I realized I just would never be that good or even barely ok. When I went to 15 minute practice with the band director she would always asking "Are you practicing?" Of course I said yes but she could tell I hadn't because of the sound coming out. You miss a day or two and you lose your lip aperture till you play a couple of days. We had paid off the trumpet by then on payments anyway lol.

Neil Diamond was almost 80 when he performed this for an audience of 200,000 people at Glastonbury. His voice wasn't quite all there by this point, but his backup singers, orchestra and audience carried the song. It's such a great performance, with Neil at his showman best.
    ua-cam.com/video/S2GbWSjewoQ/v-deo.html
Some of my favorite Neil Diamond songs: Heartlight (no one as far as I know has reacted to this, and it's a song he wrote about E.T. The Extra Terrestrial), Hello, Again, Love on the Rocks, Brother Love's Travelling Show, Solitary Man, America. He writes so beautifully, and his voice, when he was younger, was so deep and powerful. He's also a great showman. Check some of these out.
