👉We changed things a little as we progressed through the videos and construction, so we decided to put together a set of plans for a smaller version of our Garden Enclosure at 24′ x 14′ - complete with 3D drawings and 2D working drawings with all the measurements you will need. You can easily scale up the size of the enclosure by adding extra sections as shown in our plans.

Great videos as ever, keep them coming. I just wondered, why not put the wire on the inside of the frame, which would make it harder for bears to pull it off the frame? Or would it?

Hi Justin... Although I am not a bear expert, from what I have seen and heard, bears tend to push or climb fencing so we designed for shear strength and weight, not pulling. Also with this design, the exterior provides a flat even surface to attach the mesh and you can run the mesh across 4 or 5 sections if needed. If you put it on the inside you have bracing to deal with and nailing near/above garden beds etc. And also, while we do feel this design is bear proof (with electric fence wire), most people have way more trouble with deer and we kept that in mind as the main focus.

That makes sense, thanks for the reply.

Hello Mr. Reinders, I really appreciate the book I downloaded for the garden with raised beds. I wondered if you had a bed layout plan that would include an additional long bed on each short side. Could you also help me add to the materials list to accommodate the increaseed number of beds? Thank you so much for the amazing project you have already provided.

With the prices of materials today, that must have cost a fortune. Looks great.

If we had used cedar it would have... but we lucked out an got all the lumber from a small local sawmill for just under $2000. That's why we made the free plans for a smaller size garden enclosure (24'x14') - more practical size for most people.

Here in Arkansas cedar is all over. I logged most of mine and sold to a local mill. Have a bunch of posts left over but no mill here at home. Thought about building a 4 bay lean to with some of them. Would keep the tractor out of the rain.

Here in BC, we have a ton of cedar as well, but it still is very expensive. If we had used cedar it would have cost us 4 times as much... One would have to grow a lot of veggies to pay back that amount of money. Here, just one 8' - 2x6 at Home Depot is $17.50 (ouch).

I just checked our price here in NE MN. 2x6x8' rough sawn cedar is 1.75 x 5.75 x 8'=$15.73 American so that's $19.73 Canadian. Really ouch!

Ah, that makes sense on "why use construction lumber" instead.
