I picked one up today for putzing around the house. After being out of the RC hobby for 10 years, I am amazed. With the hard body paint and detail, It's like the 1/24 scale plastic kits I so fondly remember coming to life. Once I got familiar with the controls and settings, I found it a blast to run. Entertaining a pet doubles the fun...LOL. The bright LED headlights are a really nice touch. I amazed at the run time on such a small battery. And that it only took 45 minutes to charge on a USB charger. This 1/24 scale hard body stuff can easily become an addiction.
You've done several videos on upgrades to push max possible performance, could we get one for scale crawlers? Best upgrades to maximize performance without compromising the scale look? I got the orange power wagon and love the way it looks, but I am hoping to squeeze some more performance out of it.
I got my daughter this truck for Christmas but in orange. She loves it, I’ve tested it and found that it is a bit top heavy. I think with longer travel shocks and some heavy wheels/better tires it would see great results
i have burnt up two analog emax servos and one digital emax.the stock steering link was binding ,so i got injora aluminum steering link and injora brass steering knuckles.i need a new budget-friendly servo, what do you think i should get?also with the brass knuckles i really lost alot of steering angle is there somthing i can trim to fix that. You make the best videos!
My scx10 II deadbolt came with that transmitter. At first I didn't at all like it from an aesthetic point of view, but quickly came to love it. I was disappointed my scx24 bronco didn't come with one. This truck being on my short list of wants, makes me stoked for the transmitter. Point of note though. 75% power never works. It's either 50 or 100%.
Excellent review Adam! Really like the candid take on the highlights of this Axial offering and the shortcomings that you identify. I still think I will pick one up to keep the Axial collection alive. Really like the trailer feature as well. Thank you for your video.
I got mine last week in Orange. Pretty cool rig I got the trailer too. I found right away in my Little Rock path it needs weight. So next day I put on 10mm offset brass hubs. Set set of weighted wheels I had and of course upgraded the sloppy steering linkage to brass. Did a lot better. It’s probably get the usual scx24 upgrades. Motor, steering servo etc
Silly beginner question but if I want to make sure that my upgrades fit can I assume if it fits SCX24 Gladiator it will fit my SCX24 Dodge Power Wagon? Thank you so much!
I really want one of the green PWs! Looks like they need some OGRCxMcCue Mantis Links. Great video! I also like the one eyed FCX power wagon you used as a comparison 🤣
Definitely a big improvement over previous models i like the fact it comes with 57mm tires stock which is a decent sized tire stock it Definitely could use some brass a upgraded servo and motor but it Definitely doesn't need as much upgrades as the old models
For an inexpensive combo, the Injora pro 50 motor and Emax servo is my go-to. A higher end servo like reefs or nsdrc are amazing but they’re pricey. Mofo RC makes fantastic motors as well.
I think Axial see’s what FMS is doing & is slowly adding things like the tailgate that works. Even the overall look of it looks different then any previous models. Good for them because having the same models with either Chevy or Ford type vehicles gets old (Traxxas) you can’t just expect to not change anything & come out with basically the same thing over & over especially with other companies coming out with a lot of choices.
@@CapeCrawlers The competition is wonderful because we get to benefit from it. I like Axial because they show up & even Sponsor RC events I see them every year at Proline By The Fire & have great giveaways that a lot of times are given to youngsters & they get a great introduction into the hobby. Growing the hobby is important & RC’s are a really good to get into because you can involve the entire family. 👍
The lack of weight really holds back all scx 24s. I would honestly replace the stock chassis with a much heavier one made with much denser stainless steel.
Awesome video! A Main Hobbies has in the description it comes with both working headlight and tail light? Axial video shows only headlights working. lol
I couldn't wait to get mine, but I've honestly been disappointed with it. I like the new features, but there are other things that I think were overlooked. One of the biggest attractions of the SCX24 is the upgradability. There are several things with the Power Wagon that interfere with that. The front bumper needs removed as soon as you replace the wheels & tires because of rub. The rear fenders rub, even with stock wheels/tires/shocks. The length of the body causes hang-ups galore, and the climbing ability out of the box is pretty weak. TBH, I've been more impressed with my stock Deadbolt over the stock Power Wagon. Although, I'm anxious to see if that changes after I tool around with it some more.
That's a bummer. We haven't even added wheels/tires to ours yet so I am now more curious to get into mods. Although my son loves it so much stock I don't know what we'll end up doing!
I really like the original dimensions and wheels, it creates an excellent appearance. I am delighted with the oil-filled shock absorbers. My upgrades will only include lowering the center of gravity and increasing weight. Without increasing the width and size of the wheels. I also want to install a brushless motor.
@@stalkerzdrus7121 I have come around to this model a LOT over the past couple months. It took awhile to get it to a place I'm happy with it, but it has turned into a really good truck.
Dude, I have the same thing. This 88T motor died in the first week. No aggressive use, no mods. He died not abruptly, but smoothly, within 10 seconds he reduced the speed to a complete stop of the wheels. It was very frustrating.

I've only got two 1/24. Just got this Power Wagon but the first one I found 1/25 AMT Chevy Police van that fit perfect.
I wish they had the green. I put the top rack on mine made it extremely top-heavy stole the AX24 stock wheels and now it’s amazing.
PLEASE DO A BUILD VIDEO ON THIS😭😩😂

I really like the look of the 4 door green power wagon. My Dad was also in the USFS and fought wildfires so.... yeah awesome
Hello, when are you gonna do an upgraded power wagon? I would like to see that because i wanna upgrade my own. Thank you!

picking up mine next weekend. I'm actually considering making this my first ever brushless crawler
Me too! Good luck with it

Mine arrives tomorrow, excited to see what you do to upgrade and modify yours.
Truck looks so sick! Debating this or the deadbolt for next one
Thinking that bed needs to get bobbed. Loose the front bumper add some brass she will do just fine. Looks good.

What would be your top 4 rtr mini crawlers for a mix of trail and crawl

Awesome video! What wheels did you have in the gladiator?
Can you make a custom build series on these power wagon? It seems they changed a lot.
Yes I think I am ready to do that. Just got some goodies for it!

Just finished my 1st 1/10 build and now i need a 1/24 for winter
If you have 2 of Axial trucks, will the electronic signals get confused?
They will not. We run multiple ones simultaneously all the time
Just picked mine up and on way home to play with. I went with green also.
Any updates to the power wagon? I don’t have any scale rigs and I’m thinking about getting one for a scale aspect.
I just bought myself the orange one and am having a lot of fun with it. Just did DJ crawler retro wheels and a motor upgrade so far.
Still waiting on a build. I know it’s basically a gladiator but looks so good and I need inspiration to build mine up more
I’ll do one. Would love to build out an orange one
I cant wait to see what you end up doing to this thing lol.. "upgrade wise"
Where did you get the grill for your fcx24? I think my son would love it.
Whats the best 1/24 scale rtr in your opinion?
It's technically an 1/18 scale, but the Hobbyplus Evo Pro is the best RTR small scale in my opinion.
@@CapeCrawlersIll look into it, thanks!

Agreed. It definitely felt like a counter punch aimed at FMS

The slo mo and music are crazy good! I keep my c10 nevertheless....
This is nice. The little motors work fine but once you start adding brass you can tell they’re weak and need more torque.
Good video. I was about to buy this. Glad i did not. Love the body but, not happy with the suspension travel with that low body
RC4WD for the win
Another interesting looking model, I’m sure Axel will enjoy the trailer for it.

How dare you scratch the power wagon! 😢
Wish Axial would gear these down!
Just got this today for my son...

If only they made a Tacoma
