The maturity of Mike Martz to say "the only thing that hindered him was probably me" was seriously the coolest thing I've seen from a head coach in a while.
Honestly I think Mike Martz gets a bad rap. Seems people want to make him a villain. He arguablely had more influence on warner than Dick vermeil ever did, Bulger had a pro bowl season while Warner was on the shelf, so any coach would stay with the hot hand while earner missed 24 games in that span. In addition to that Martz never had a losing season, made the playoffs 4 times in five years, and he had the presence of to resign when he knew kronke would eventually move the team, so he was never fired
@@thedarkfrost2351 ok and if Dyson scores that touchdown and vinnetari misses the kick its the other way around that's not on the coach if both games come down to 1 play
Even if his numbers don't scream hall of fame, there was no way they weren't immortalizing his story; especially with a guy as nice as Kurt Warner. It couldn't have happened to a better dude.
Walked right past him and his family at the Ohio State Vs Oregon National Championship in Arlington back in 2015. Was in complete shock, could not speak or move. Over the last several years before, and thanks to this incredible doc, I grew to become such a huge fan of Kurt and looked up to him. Ironically, I was about to wear my 1999 rams Kurt Warner jersey to the game, but told my brother I’d just wear something red since I was going for Ohio State. The laugh we had after Kurt walked past us was great. Next day at school I tweeted about the experience and said “next time”. Within 10 minutes Kurt replied saying “next time, you got it!”. Despite not meeting him initially, I’m really glad I was somehow able to communicate how much of a fan I was even if it was online. Thank you Kurt for making me the coolest guy in high school that day, for about 15 minutes.
Terry Bradshaw lives right across the texas border into Oklahoma. He has a ranch in Oklahoma. He does a lot of shopping and eating out in my hometown of Gainesville, Texas. A couple years ago a guy couldn't get his car started and Terry Bradshaw pulled up and gave the man a jump 😂. Someone recorded him and it went viral. It happened right at a little mini shopping mall that's pretty popular in the area. Funny how through all the fame and fortune some folks just stay the same and remain humble through it all. Cool story, man!
John Randall of the Vikings is a close 2nd. Greatest interior lineman of all times. He had like 140 sacks in his career. He wasn't even given the time of day by anyone but the Vikes. They made him put on weight to even look at him. Brett Favre said the most criminally underrated player in the NFL was John Randall. I'll tell ya just how great he was. He got injured before the NFC championship game in 1998. The Defense gave up way more yards, and significantly more points VS Falcons to lose the game at the last minute. If John Randall were on the field and healthy that game, the Vikings make and win the Superbowl.
@stu_money… LOL! LOL!! Brady’s 2007 season beats both those guys you named. Highest QBR in history. Even Marino’s 1984 season beats them too. Nice try though ;)
I think people talk about the underdog story of Kurt simply getting to the NFL and the success he had right away when he finally had the chance. But I think it is also close to as impressive that after finally reaching his goal and the top of the league success he had over the first three seasons the way things played out in the years that followed. The traits he had that led to him reaching the goal despite how hopeless it genuinely appeared at every stage until he finally played and shocked everyone were just as vital in the years that followed the Cinderella years. To me it had to be nearly the same overall challenges emotionally and mentally to reach the impossible goal after so many years, succeed at a level nobody could’ve ever imagined happening, and then to have to push through the next five seasons or so having reached the heights he had, knowing how good he could be and what he could achieve and working through those years. I think it had to have really sucked to be MVP, play bad and lose the next year because of injury, and then rush things to be back the next year and have such a bad game that you lose the role for good so quickly. And then accepting a hot seat role to mentor Eli, losing your spot when you were playing well enough that you didn’t deserve to lose the spot and being a team guy that you refuse to let there be a QB controversy and mentor him the whole time. And then your next chance you get named the starter twice but quickly get yanked both years and deal with injury. And then the next season you don’t get the job but keep getting little chances here and there since he isn’t playing well and only when he gets injured do you finally have the job and this time play elite ball again. And even then they name the other guy starter before rhe season but you win the job over him and for the next two seasons after pushing through all the struggles and hot potato of being the starter play elite level ball again and return to your top level. A lot of people wooodnt have been able to get through the middle seasons to have his last three.
I was rooting for him so bad in all three SB’s. Such a good dude. Glad for the success of him and his family. Good to hear him doing games on Westwood One on the radio too.
You hear people talk about the intangibles, one of those, character, is as important to a quarterback as the ability to throw a ball or read a defense. This man defined character. If you can't respect him I can't imagine what matters to you.
His abilities and gifts were uncanny to watch, cannot stop watching your film to this day Kurt. This man could take beating after beating and still wouldn’t give up when most others would.
His side arm deliveries and those hot routes were just an art form. He was “The Greatest Show on Turf’s” general. He was the motor of the highest powered offense ever.
The 2008 Cardinals team was special to watch. I really wanted to see them win Super Bowl XLIII. It was, in my opinion, the best Super Bowl in the last 20 years.

I can tell you that on that play that won it for PITTS., HOLMES did not get both feet down, and I saw the best replay of it that you can see. True, it would've brought up either second or third down and Roethlisberger was a very good running, scrambling qb inside the 10. Look at what he did vs. SEATTLE in SUPER BOWL XL on that keeper for six that gave PITTSBURGH their penultimate TD before the option TD throw to HINES WARD by ANTWAAN RANDLE EL finished off the SEAHAWKS. But, on that other play in SUPER BOWL XLIII, SANTONIO HOLMES did not get two feet in. He drug one foot with the other planted, resting on the bottom of the other shoe that was in, but never did that second one touch.. It fooled the OFFICIAL and the REPLAY judge. Once again maybe PITT was going to score anyway on their next play(s) if they had to run it/them, but on that play called a TD, the NFL blew it. His story is so unbelievable and wholesome that if someone wrote a movie before it happened the script gets rejected I especially love the story of how me met his wife And She was ride or die from day one with or without the nfl What an inspirational human
The story where he ran out of gas in a Blizzard with his family in their Chevy Blazer(GMC Jimmy same platform) I truly believe was the turning point of what was to come for Kurt. No wonder he was able to take such abuse from Coach Martz.
The scene of Martz chewing Warner out for the center not hiking the ball properly was a cool scene in the movie they did of Warner. Didn’t know that really happened. Seems like an extremely good human being and man.
That Super Bowl against the Patriots has got to be one of the unlikeliest QB matchups ever, as far as the odds of those two men making it to the Super Bowl go. Undrafted guy who didn't break into the league for like 6 years after he graduated vs unathletic guy taken in the 6th round who replaced an injured starter. And then for them to both be MVP's and to have the careers that they had (obviously one better than the other, but still)? Truly incredible. Anything can happen in football.
i got to ask when they do tom brady will it be a 5 part series? kurt started it for tom as the greatest show on turf and that is more talked about then his winning it sadly because he's earned his jacket and respect of all football fans.
Mike Martz seems like a guy who accepts he made mistakes and moves on. Same with Kurt… these people always live good lives… It all turned out pretty great for Kurt…I think God rewards people like that with second chances. People with good character always seem to come out on top
I seen Kurt Warner at the Mayo Clinic, He was walking through the main entrance and I was going to ask him for a picture. He gave me the stair and i chicken out… true story
Kurt Warner is one of my favorite persons for obvious reasons. To see the Saints intentionally injure him is a crime that should be punishable with years of jail time. One of the Saints defensive coaches put out a reward of money to players to injure the key players of opposing teams! Penitentiary time!

Great guy and QB, glad I was able to watched him played.
Whenever you find yourself facing a tough decision just ask yourself, what would Kurt Warner do?
The best comeback against the nfl
Amazing story about an amazing player!
Just… Awesome!!!😎👍👊🙏
Kurt was the man I live in phoenix cardinals fan.. good story
My best memories with my father are around The Rams & The greatest show on turf years
New England but one of the all time greats.
A great football player and an even better person
We do only get 1 chance at this life. Few of us live it as well!!!
I will always remember that statement :
We will rally around kurt warner and we ll play good football
i got to ask when they do tom brady will it be a 5 part series? kurt started it for tom as the greatest show on turf and that is more talked about then his winning it sadly because he's earned his jacket and respect of all football fans.
This 49er fan admits that for one season, he was also a Rams fan.
What a man thank you kurt
a fool proceeds the master. the long and winding road. never give up on your dreams. never give up. never think it's over.
Dick Vermeil was a Godsend for Warner. He truly believed in Kurt and rest is history !
kurt warner played uni panthers team and he did walked by her house and walk 10 miles bradas house and that about kurt warner
Kurt to Isaac Bruce for 73 yards, legend!
Lotta Respec t to Kurt Warner
Kurt Warner is one of my favorite persons for obvious reasons. To see the Saints intentionally injure him is a crime that should be punishable with years of jail time. One of the Saints defensive coaches put out a reward of money to players to injure the key players of opposing teams! Penitentiary time!
It wasn’t just the Saints. Everyone did the same thing.
My top two sports heroes of all time
-Stan Musial
- Kurt Warner
It's hard to find two sports stars who are better men than them
IM PROUD to have them as my sports heroes!!!!
I consider myself very very fortunate that I was in St Louis when Kurt's opportunity came around
There were games in 99, like vs Cincinnati, during which I laughed out loud at the plays being made
WOW
WHAT A YEAR, WHAT A TEAM, WHAT A PLAYER, WHAT A MAN
altho mariucci came around to be a Warner fan, HE WAS WRONG
From a Packers fan....Kurt and Larry was fun to watch. Wished Larry would've joined the Packers...😂😂😂😂
What a great man
this movie about him true story of kurt warner same like a football life
A mountain of a man full of class ..
Watched the movie. i loved it ❤️❤️
Even being a backup in the NFL is better than stocking shelves. He knew that.
Life becomes a blur and here we are. Make today count
Destiny belongs to the underdogs with big hearts and God by their sides 🙏
