It's probably just me, but this part in the game made me realize what the WoL means to people in this world, as a friend and as a savior. They were making time for him/her and it was just so epic for me.
yeah, seeing the story from the perspective of someone other than the WoL really shows how powerful he/she is. he/she is the goku of FFXIV. everyone else gets knocked around for a little while and then WoL shows up to finish the job.
I like how Eli-Zenos is noticeably more reliant on magic over melee If it had been the real Zenos, Lyse wouldn't have been able land a hit on him like that
Oh my God, I was thinking the same thing! Also in the credits of Post Stormblood arc, an image of Lyse was first shown then Hien then Yugiri which makes Lyse=Ironman, Hien=Captain America and Yugiri=Thor. The big three of Stormblood.
Lyse: What’s he been doing? Yugiri: Absolutely nothing. Hien: Where is the Warrior of Light? Lyse: Went to the Rising Stones. Raubahn said he/she can rest. Hien: So we keep it that way. Yugiri: My lord, you know it’s a trap right? Lyse: Yeah, I don’t much care. Yugiri: Good. As long as we’re all in agreement. Let’s kill him properly this time.
At this point in the expansion, I felt like the WoL had progressed in strength so much. In the past, you were used to waiting for your allies to back you up and even your fights with Zenos ended up in failure or a stalemate. Now YOU single-handedly rescue your friends and fight Zenos 1v1 and beat him.
Would have been better if the game didn't Deus Ex Machina us into a debatable defeat here. I never quite understood why Zenos ever beat us when the WoL has killed over a dozen GODS by this point. It's never explained as far as I know. Boggles my mind and gives me conniptions. Square Enix pls, let me beat the shit out of this guy without plot getting in my way. EDIT: I don't know if this is the real answer as to why WoL has even a remotely difficult time dealing with Zenos, but maybe it's Zenos' "enhancements". Which aren't given much explanation and background anyway to begin with.
I don't know why the textboxes keep calling him "Zenos" instead of "Elidibus". In ARR, they called Lahabrea by his name even when he was inside of Thancred.
Is he / is he not Elidibus was a question-mark for all concerned at the time. They didn't really know the full details yet. Even Elidibus says "Is this all that would stand before me--before Zenos? Interesting" shortly after combat begins. They find out for certain later.
@Michael Walker Yep. Nobody on the WoL's side knows for sure. So it's to keep it consistent like that. Unlike Lahabrea, which everyone knew for sure was in Thancred.
I mean at the end of stormblood, zenos kills the emperor, gaius calls him “ascian” and then zenos responds with something along the lines of “the ascian left a long time ago, it is just me zenos” (not exactly like that, but close lol)
Watching this Zenos fight compared to him in the final fight of Stormblood... it just made me realize the original Zenos really were playing around. Whereas Elidibus used Zenos' body to full potential with the express purpose of killing the WOL.
To be fair Elidibus has access to Zenos' body AND magic which makes him really strong. Plus when you fight him you do have the upper hand until you get called.
The entire point here is that Elidibus wasn't using Zeno's body to it's full potential. He was overly reliant on magic, to the point that Lyse was able to both land a hit and crack his mask, something it took a weaker version of our WoL quite a bit to do. Elidibus had no clue of how well Zeno's had honed his body and skill with a blade and instead chose his magic, which while still powerful thanks to him fusing with Shinryu, wasn't nearly as powerful as his raw physical garlean strength mixed with his combat prowess. If Zenos was in control of his body at the time then Hien, Lyse, and Yugiri would be wet stains on the dirt by the time we showed up.
This is my favorite battle scene in this game and one of my favorite villain scenes in anything ever, because in this one you see the villain absolutely BODYING every single one of your allies. Hien loses, Lyse loses, Yugiri loses... And then when the main character finally arrive to save the day YOU STILL LOSE!! It's like... How're we supposed to ever beat this monster??
8:17 A secret dialogue when you face him as a DRK? An interesting touch but sadly unnoticed. Though i'll admit, the phase where the swords must be destroyed before the guage goes full is way harder for magic dps mains from my experience.
The fact the Hien held out that long shows how skilled he actually is.

@@zen_7748 feel any differently now ?
@@zen_7748 you lost because a certain exarch was giving you migranes, not because "zenos" had gotten stronger

I guess to not spoil it? Though it's pointless at this point.

The whole “just hold out until HE/SHE gets here” was so hype. The warrior of light was basically their superman after stormblood.
Why does no one ever talk about how sexy his voice is?

Plus the shared silence between Hien, Lyse and Yugiri at the start, all set against the war-torn background of the Ghimlyt Dark. It's sooo good.

It is not. Just did this fight as Samurai and he still says the same thing.
This was really cool. Always wanted to see Hien and Zenos fight. Cool scene.
I don’t like how that fight ended. I am salty as fuck.
Yeah man I hated how everyone kept bringing up that Zenos won. We were on equal footing until the exarch decided to put us into a fucking coma.
fought just like you did but somehow i was insta killed once i finished killing the 3 swords.
same here
For some reason this part makes me laugh 5:26. Probably just the way she screams and the camera cuts to her before she resumes flying in the air.
someone knows whats the song name playing while WoL vs Zenos fight?
6:41 naruto coming to fight pain be like
His battles can be solo right
i died to the swords they were 95 % and still failed
Yeah, I think I did the first time too. I didn't notice early enough what I was meant to do. lol
whats that theme name at 5:30

"I'm Zenos, and I'm here to FUCK YOU UP."
The WoLs Goku moment.
You would benefit from a NVMe SSD
What in the world is the theme that plays when you fight Zenos proper as your character? I can't find it anywhere.
From what I can tell the theme is called "Thunderer"
Kills lyse. I was salty
