I knew this video would be special as soon as you referenced one of my favorite Simpsons episodes and quotes. Also, you’ve unintentionally set the Guinness World Record for the most money ever spent on a Mickey Bar. I would bet Disney dollars to donuts that the Cast Members exchanged their own money for the Disney Dollars you turned in.
Oh the CMs definitely did! The cast member that I talk to in the Emporium said that when people use Disney dollars in the parks, they usually just hand them out to cast members that are working that don’t have any in their own collection. he also mentioned that he has not seen one in the parks for almost 9 years 😳 thank you so much for watching 🙏
I was a vacation planner at Epcot way back in 2010, and people actually came in with those a few times during my college program. We also still took any paper tickets from over the years, since they were all no expiration back then. Unfortunately the guests had to surrender some really cool tickets.
This video was semi-inspired by another creator who used a ticket book from 1972 to get into Disney World a few years back. It’s a collectible for sure but made for a great video. 😅 thank you so much for sharing your story and watching 🥹🙏
Ah I can’t believe you spent them on a Mickey bar! Like Kristen said that had to be the most expensive Mickey bar ever 😂 Loved the CM’s reactions though, priceless! Loved learning the history about them, I feel like I may have one somewhere, I should look around for it lol
Me too! Had to find the right way to film it without actually filming the cast members, but i think i did a halfway decent job at that. Appreciate you as always 🙏
Ryan, as always well done! You just continue to impress and continue to make our Sunday’s enjoyable when you post:)Thanks to you we brought out our old Disney dollars and then continued to open more memories. Thanks for being you and for all the knowledge you share to us lucky viewers!
I never got a Disney Dollar, but I do have a "We're sorry, please take this coupon and get get some food on Disney!" That I never used because I felt like it was rare to get one of these.
I remember begging my dad to get Disney Dollars as a kid, specifically because I used to be fascinated with currency collecting. He never did. I would totally buy them if they issued them again
Commenting so you know I made it and so the algorithm hopefully pushes your content to more people cause you take the time to make entertaining disney content.
haha thank you so much! Very happy with UA-cam lately (especially for the side of the channel that I’ve got) to be honest, I would be making these videos for 1/10 of the audience if I had to. This is truly my passion. 🥹
The content you make is the reason i fell in love with disney/theme park history videos. 10 to 25min long videos on awesome niche pieces of history followed up with your man on the street style content. I love Defunctland, Theme Park History, Yesterworld, etc. but i look forward to your stuff the most nowadays. They all either no longer produce or put out very long videos. You found the sweet spot. Please keep doing what your doing ! P.S. i would not buy Disney dollars, but I gotta feel like a Disney Cypto currency is not too far off in the future
Awww thank you so much, this really means a lot! I’m happy to find my own niche and way to present these videos, plenty more like this to come in the future! thank you so much for tuning in 🙏🥹
I remember our family friends would hide Disney dollars around Disneyland for us to find when we went on our trips and then we would hide some for them for their next trip. Nostalgia!
I saw your IG reel then saw the full video here UA-cam, so I just found your UA-cam channel. Never knew about the Disney dollars. Very cool! I would buy one for sure if they came back.
I would honestly still buy Disney Dollars if they were still made, I kinda wish they were so we'd have Dollars with Pixar, Star-Wars and even Marvel characters and/or logos
I wish they still had Disney money. I loved getting it as a gift as a kid and would love to give some to my son. Plus I would get a Disney dollar every trip as a cheap souvenir.
Loved the video. Disney used to take a refundable deposit for using their strollers in the park, and at some point stopped refunding in USD and switched to DD. Made a lot of parents very unhappy. Mickey money laundering? 😂 USD in, DD out. 😂
I’m in my early 40’s now but severely grade school years for my birthday I got to bring a friend to Disneyland and we’d always get Disney dollars from the folks and get to go out on our own to explore the park. So, I remember these very well and I may have one or two still at my parents house. This is the kind of video I love to see. It’s fresh while nostalgic. It’s informative and well produced. Thanks man!
haha that’s awesome!! glad I could help bring back some memories 🥹 Also, appreciate the kind words! I am thrilled to have found my niche (and audience as well) 🙏
Resort Front Desk Cashiers had a set amount of D$s in our drawers each shift. You’d go weeks without any action and then… BAM! You’d have a mom wanting to see everything you had in your drawer to see what editions you had to add to their collection.
that sounds more like a hassle to me, luckily the reaction I got from the cast members at the snack stand was a shock, but also not too much of a problem from what it seems 😅 Thanks so much as always for watching 🙏
I believe my mom still has some Disney Dollars. I remember whenever we visited Disneyland, she would exchange money for them. If they started printing them again, I'd be collecting them.
I worked for Disney when they started the Disney Dollars. I will let you in on a cast member’s POV. The majority of cast members preferred real money over Disney Dollars and free passes. We laughed at The Rat when they were exchanging Disney Dollars for real cash at the stroller rental. That meant that the guests had to spend it in the park. My mama said that if I can’t say anything nice, I shouldn’t say anything at all. So I won’t comment on how much you actually spent on that ice cream 😜. Not to change the subject but your friend Kenny is sitting in his basement all depressed because you won’t help him get into Epic. I was at Lakeland Antique Mall last week and saw those Earl the Squirrel posters. You should buy him one and ship it to him. We all know you can afford it 😂
Thats insane, man! The gigantic Inflatable RIO Beach ball from the Rio movie promotion is worth a lot more money online than a Disney Dollar. And by the way, I wish I had a lot of money to buy a gigantic Rio beach ball from the Rio movie of 2011.
I worked at Walt Disney World in the late 90s and always had Disney dollars that customers would tip us with. Still have many of them in my safe from 25 years ago.

I'd probably buy one if it was a character i really like (Belle is my favorite but Moana and Encanto characters too) just to display. Like i feel like Disney could put it in a cool looking like display case or like framed so you could hang it up. Great video though! You probably made those cast members' day so I'd say that's worth $84 😂
The reason that one Disney dollar is 25k is because it’s graded and nearly a 100. I know Beccket and PSA but PMG is grading for money, and since Disney dollars have been gone since 2016, that means it could be worth a lot. Especially since the dollar itself is from 1988.
Hey you should cover the original Hard Rock Cafe at Universal Studios Florida that was torn down in 2011. I myself am a big fan of this sort of stuff and had no clue it even existed. I can’t find many videos or pictures, so it makes it that much more interesting

Got a few more topics I'm trying to get done before then, but I will for sure try to get to that soon! Thank you so much for checking the video out and the suggestion! 🙏

I remember the Disney dollars. I never had any though! I love that you dig deeper into the nostalgic stuff of Disney!! Yes I would buy some! I think I would have just asked if they took them and then paid with American dollars and saved them for yourself. Listen to your sister she’s a smart girl!!
yeah, I kinda wish I did the same thing, but I really had to commit in order for the experiment to be complete. I could always get more in the future, but the video takes priority and I had to commit to the bit 😂😂 thank you as always for watching 🙏🥹
Love the novelty of Disney Dollars! Stuff like that makes Disney special, however without a massive price reduction, I would be out on the Disney Dollars😂
I don’t blame you! It’s a pretty expensive price tag for just a simple piece of paper that has little to no value outside of or antique stores 😅 thank you so much for watching 🙏
I would absolutely buy Disney Dollars if they printed them again. I have some my mom bought for me that I never spent. I found it funny the clip of framing and putting the Disney Dollar on a bookshelf was in front of a row of Twilight books. 😅 Thank you for your videos. I very much enjoy watching them. thank you so much for watching 🙏 and yeah, my wife has recently started, expanding her collection of the books, and I thought it would be a weird Easter egg that at least one person would comment on. So congrats you were the reason reason I included it. 😂🙏
My family wasn’t the richest. But sometime in the early 2000s we went to Disneyland. And a timeshare guy asked my parents to join their meeting and for joing they’d get $150 each in Disney dollars. So around $300 we ended up eating at Ariel’s grotto with those Disney dollars with a few left over. I think we still have a few but I’m not sure. But hey now Ariel’s grotto is gone and we have a memory of terrible food
I wish I could say the same, but unfortunately, I really did spend all of these for this video, we have zero left in our home 😂 Appreciate you as always for watching🙏
As part of my Disney nostalgia, I have a Disney Dollars $1 bill (A00141414A Series 2003), and I'm not going to spend it on a Mickey Bar! 😆 The sentimental value is worth more than $1 .

I think it is a cute and fun idea. Great for a souvenir or a gift. However, I feel like there should be something more special about using them or maybe have special items that can only be bought with the Disney Dollars.
that’s a great idea that would’ve worked back in the day! But I feel like now Disney’s trying to pretend like they never existed!😂 thank you so much for watching 🙏
I remember watching that "Simpsons" episode. I knew it was a reference to the currency at Disney Parks. But I also wondered if there was an issue between the independent vendors and Disney that they had to wait MONTHS to be properly reimbursed for the Disney Dollars and that would have caused them to stop taking the currency. I would have liked to have seen this addressed in the video.
yeah, that’s actually one thing I didn’t think about during the research for this video. There’s plenty of third-party Disney retailers that would have to accept this fake money. I wonder if that was part of the reason it ended up going extinct 🤔 thank you so much for watching 🙏
Before I made this video they were only a small nugget of a memory in my mind. Kinda bummed I never got any as a kid ☹️ Thank you so much for watching 🙏
I think they have some sort of bank at Disneyland with a vault and everything. (but i think it’s been turned into a gift shop at this point) Maybe one day they’ll bring it back. Disney Adults would eat this up 😂
I would buy some if they had them in the park still. I was thinking maybe you'd ask for the dollars back and pay with real cash but you committed. That must have been hard.
A few people on other platforms are convinced that I didn’t actually spend the money, but I could tell you that I really did. Unfortunately 😭😭 thank you so much for watching 🙏

I wonder if that was part of the reason it ended up going extinct 🤔
thank you so much for watching 🙏
$6 dollars for a Mickey bar is the real loss here!
Yes! And I had Disney cash a kid!
Thank you so much for watching 🙏
Yes
Yes, we would buy Disney dollars. We are always on the lookout.
As long as you promise not to spend it at the parks, that would be a dumb move. I don’t know who would do that. 😅
thank you so much for watching 🙏
I remember these!
Before I made this video they were only a small nugget of a memory in my mind. Kinda bummed I never got any as a kid ☹️
Thank you so much for watching 🙏
Those poor kids who had no idea if they were being grifted 😂
Yes!
YES
The only reason I would buy the Disney dollars would be to save a few.
Yes, but I would like to make money on them. Thanks for the Science!
I want them to bring Disney dollars back. I also think it would be fun to put an exchange bank on Main Street in MK and hire me to work the window.
I think they have some sort of bank at Disneyland with a vault and everything. (but i think it’s been turned into a gift shop at this point)
Maybe one day they’ll bring it back. Disney Adults would eat this up 😂
We’ve still got one at home!
Can i have them? I seem to have misplaced mine 🤔
@ for $25000 yeah
Dreaming of making it rain Disney dollars in Atlantic City dance hall 💸
lmao that’s one expensive night out 😅😅
Thank you so much for watching 🙏
@@ForTheLoveOfThemeParksVlogsand yes - if they did remake them, I would definitely buy some, even just for novelty! They’re nice looking
I would buy some if they had them in the park still. I was thinking maybe you'd ask for the dollars back and pay with real cash but you committed. That must have been hard.
A few people on other platforms are convinced that I didn’t actually spend the money, but I could tell you that I really did. Unfortunately 😭😭
thank you so much for watching 🙏
Yes, I would buy them. Especially if Squattro McDuck was on the front.
That would probably be the most rare one of them all, maybe I’ll have to make a bootleg version😂
Appreciate you as always 🙏🥹
