The way that his father treated his mother and by extension him fueled his hatred for muggles. Also he was against mixed marriages between muggles and wizarding people due to the tragic ending of his parent's "relationship", though I don't think he realized that he was conceived while his father was under the influence of a love potion.

The darkness in Tom Riddle, Jr isn't born when learns about his parents. He's already torturing the smaller children at the orphanage (one of the signals of a serial killer). The adults in charge of the orphanage suspect he needs psychological help. Discovering the magical world was the worst thing for him. Dumbledore's biggest failure was seeing who the child was. And not helping him. All of the pain and death could have been avoided, possibly.
If Tom had never went to Hogwarts,I imagine he likely would have become a politician or high ranking corporate member.Magic or not,he would have found a way to control/hurt people,and satisfy his psychopathic urges.
If Dumbledore didn't invite him to attend Hogwarts, there's a great possibility that Tom would've become an Obscurial. The muggles would lock him in a mental facility and give him all sorts of medicine to repress his magic. Dumbledore could've already forseen the darkness in him but still tried to train Tom by letting him attend his school. He was bright and an outstanding student, he even managed to fool and manipulate everyone especially Professor Slughorn. By the time Dumbledore gets wind on what Tom was up to it was already too late.
Dumping all the blame to Dumbledore isn't fair, imo. Nothing could've stopped Tom from being Voldemort, he doesn't understand friendship, compassion, love and all sorts of positive emotions. All he knows is cruelty and power.
I think the replies here are missing the point that a child like Tom would need help, he clearly needed a freakin magical therapist or any form of support or guidance. Instead Dumbledore's like "huh. Incredibly bitter and powerful child, kills animals, traumatizes other children, steals things- this will be bad :)" and he's turned loose into magical culture. I always felt frustrated reading that part because at the time Dumbledore meets him, Tom Riddle is 11 (the age of a lot of the people reading) he's not irrevocably evil yet, just mentally ill and probably quite sad.

And Dumbledore recognizes that Tom has issues on his first visit. Tom even asks him if he's a Doctor. And tells him that they want him to see a Doctor. And that's exactly what Tom needed.
Not every Sociopath (he shows all the signs) (including the manipulation and unrelenting) grows up to be a killer or dictator. Even if it was St. Mungo's or whatever. It's better than ignoring it. And hoping it'll go away.

I like to think that Voldemort secretly knew that Pure Blood Wizardry was a dead end, having met his Gaunt uncle and seeing how pathetic he was, and wondering if being a half-blood didn't actually make him stronger, not weaker.
And that, by extension, he pushed the Pure Blood angle because his ultimate goal was to dilute the Wizarding bloodlines over generations until they were nothing but weak wizards and Squibs, and only one true wizard remaining to rule over all- the immortal Lord Voldemort.
I'm not sure Voldemort hated muggles or muggleborns. He just pretended he did so his army of death eaters would be loyal. His end goal was to become immortal, he didn't care about muggles nor muggleborns as long as they didn't stand in his way.

He wouldn't, and that's because personality isn't only defined by the way one is raised, but by genetics as well. He would still be questioning who his parents were, why he could do magic and others couldn't and i bet he'd still be using it on others, since he doesn't feel empathy.

Also, do you really need love to be a decent human being (or is love the only thing separating you from some kind of monster)? Does Voldemort feel guilt or regret? Because that isnt connected to love, but Voldemort seems devoid of such "self-negative" emotions.

If Voldemort had succeeded in keeping his reign in the magical society of all of Great Britain, I would imagine that he wouldn't do very much once he expanded his goal to MACUSA. It has been illegal for a few centuries for wizards and witches to have friendships much less families together with no-majs. Of course he would still want to establish himself as the dictator for North America but I don't think he would try and change any of their laws or policies.

I got a video idea! I've always wondered about the magic ceiling inside Hogwarts! The history of it, different quirks it might have, and how it was created. There's one odd thing that struck me about that ceiling though. In the movie Goblet of Fire, Professor Moody was entering the hall and the ceiling all of a sudden became a violent storm. Why did the ceiling just all of a sudden become violent when he entered in. Was it because the ceiling could sense that he was a dark wizard in disguise? I'm not sure if this happened in the book or the just added extra to the movie. If you could use this as a video idea that be cool or if anyone could help me out that be just as good! Thank you!

There is one question i have tried figuring out but i cannot seem to find an answer. But do you think Voldemort and others like Dumbledore knew Voldemort was conceived under the influence of a love potion? If Voldemort does know how did he find out and does he know what it means, like his inability to experience love? Also if others like Dumbledore were aware of this did they ever look for some kind of magic to reverse this ill effect? I would love to see a video on this topic, Thank you. I have been a long time sub and just wanted to add that i enjoy all your videos and hard work you put into them.

I think Death Eaters knew it all along.
They just denied that he too was a Muggle's son.
They did know it. It was brought up in front of them by Harry and Voldemort himself didn't really "hide" it so much as just not draw attention to it.

Notice how snape doesnt react in the first scene. Although he's obviously got to act in agreement with voldemort to keep his trust, he also refuses to react in disgust at muggleborns, as that's what caused him to lose lily. He just sits expressionless

I believe that due to Voldemort’s conception through a love potion he was born without the ability to feel real love as he was not conceived naturally but through dark magic, like a birth defect resulting from mothers that consumed harmful drugs while pregnant. what if Tom Riddle was raised by his father and family? After his mother died the orphanage reached out to the Riddle family and they came and retrieved him. Say father Riddle married the woman he was seeing before Merope started giving him the love potion. The town did not like the family but the loved and indulge each other.

I don't think it would have made any difference. Lord Voldemort was the greatest dark wizard of all time. And he despised muggles. So I think the pure blood Death Eaters would have let his status slide on the grounds that he was the greatest dark wizard of all time. The Death Eaters weren't willing to let muggle status slide. But that did not mean they weren't willing to do the same with half-bloods.

If there is one thing the Harry Potter series lacks its patience. If magic and muggle kind intermingled soon there wouldn’t be muggle kind. If they had just been patent they would’ve won in the end. But nope, Riddle was too impatient.
My theory is the next dark wizard will do exactly this. They will be a muggleborn who understands the massive potential of uniting magic and science and will create a way to turn muggles into wizards. They will then use the clout they have gained among muggle kind for gifting them this new great power and will form a new semi-religious movement with themselves as the new prophet and saviour of all humanity.

Hated implies that he had feelings foe mud bloods, Voldemort did not. Attacking Mud bloods was a means of attracting followers and obtaining power over others nothing more. If he thought that Champion mud bloods for the purpose of some sort of twisted freedom fight would have got him more power then he would’ve went that route instead. That fact is the pure bloods had more power in the wizarding world and that’s why they were recruited into his ranks. It was as simple as that.
