Oh God these phones, every Romanian had one, they were Allview branded and they sucked. Also the owner of the mother company lost the whole establishment at a casino. Thank God I got an iPhone when people were getting Allviews. As much as now I am a bit iffy with Apple, it gave me a good experience in comparison with most around me.
We actually did get Allview here in Saudi Arabia and mostly by Turkish workers who started selling them here my dad was planning to get one as a temporary phone but decided against it
These were very popular here in UAE actually, but these phones were mostly distributed by 3rd party indian company that give it for free to most workers, it was still branded as allview, it's still sold here, but not like much like before
Back when i travelled to Oman, they were almost sold there everywhere as an Allview branded, they were for like 30-40 bucks but actually no one bought them (so i suppose those phones were mostly given to workers & there were some leftovers they wanted to get rid of) lol , I'm glad i didn't buy one
another Romanian here! 😂 I had an A5 Smiley which was terrible (though it was dirt cheap), and an E3 Living which DIGI sort of shoved up my thing when I renewed my contract. That E3 wasn't too bad, and DIGI repaired it for me under warranty when I bricked it trying to flash another ROM on it 😂😂 It also had fake camera specs.. the advertising said 8 MP... you could select 13 MP... the photos were not more than 5, realistically. And it said 720p video but they came out 854x480. The UI was the biggest disaster, in my opinion... not only I think was the reason for a lot of the crashes and lagging, but like we can see in this video, the app icons are tortured inside a shape (the circle inside a square, in this case) so I could never see where an app was at a glance, they all looked the same and terrible. I thought that was the work of the geniuses in Brasov but it seems no, Gionee did that. 😅
I think this is a Chinese variant phone, so it may have some global rom or something to bring Google services, thus it shows the welcome boot logo. But Gionee phones have their own boot logo, not welcome.
My dad had a rebranded Gionee F103 a few years ago, circa 2016, for like 2 years or so. It was always slow, the Carefree Launcher™ decided to die at one point completely so the phone had to be reset, it needed to be RMA'd like twice, the camera broke at one point. Great experience, 10/10. Amigo was pretty awful too
Hey Smoorez, I have an old phone Allview X3 Soul Lite, and the UI, the capacitive buttons and the camera placement are the same as on the Gionee. Allview is a Romanian phone manufacturer, they were touting that their products are all made and produced in Romania but I guess not lol. I never faced that many software bugs or translation issues as you did, despite the software being identical.
My first Android phone was a rebranded Gionee (Ctrl V1 rebranded as Allview P5 Mini). My mom also had an Allview V1 Viper i (i forgot which Gionee was that), but it had an older version of AmigoOS and it was a lot more polished than this. It ran extremely well and i really miss that weather app, because it had very realistic full screen animations, it was very nice to look at.
Well my first live Premier lol 😆 Throughly enjoyed the video. If I had bought this back in 2016 I would be OK with it being a spare phone. I do enjoy the direct translation into English . The grammar is just too delicious. The phone did sound too bad during your "conversation " and the microphone test was pretty good. The torch was also pretty good, but did I miss the outside test? The camera and video test were OK but pretty amazing compared to the iPhone 15 pro max clone. Lol There were some pretty decent photos. The Devine Miss Ripley taking centre stage as usual. Even the videos take were acceptable. Even the spund test was OK. Hopefully OK through headphones. Disappointing about the UA-cam test. That was pretty sad. Without going I to detail 2016 was the start of some really long hospital visits ( not for me) and we would use what devices we had to watch Le Tour de France and other programs to pass the time. I don't think this device would have been Amy good for that purpose. Probably OK for listening to music. Overall I wouldn't have been too disappointed i had bought this and it got lost or stolen. Lol 😂❤ However, lots of laughs watching.
How do you get the price down that much, from 59 to 15$ is a massive discount. Do they just know it's priced way too high and try to pretty much scam people?
His remind me my old Solone A-100, from the old days when 2 gbs of RAM and 32 gbs of free space was enough to survive, cheap but effectivve, terrible cameras but thats what i got after paid 150 dollars, excellent video n_n
This company went bankrupt because the ceo gambled company's money in Las Vegas when the company was barely holding it together. They had good phones, I used a F103 for a year before I lost it.
I have a moto g 2nd Gen with 1gb ram ,it runs a custom rom (android 10) and because i didn't install any Google services ,it's actually usable ,it can even play 720p video at 1.5x speed .also browsing is acceptable . Maybe if you had disabled all of the unnecessary apps ( that were running in the back grind) the phone would have been been much more snappy ,it's not worth it of course ,it's just an idea .
I bought one back when I was working in China (sure enough it had the China ROM version) no playstore and other google apps. Well, it wasn't bad for all the basic stuff. Soon the batt bloated. Gave it away when I left China. Was fun when I had it though.
Senior makes some sense if you think of seniority as someone with knowledge in a field like photography. 🤷♀️ A senior researcher isn’t necessarily old, but has been a researcher a while.
I'm so curious about this I just want to buy a simple unlocked phone (inexpensive) to throw cheap sim cards in how hard is it if I know what I need and seek it out without spending 300$ on a decent phone??
i heard about this gionee phones here in italy but i never had one, and i'm so glad i never considered them lol. it was pretty horrible and it have some weird chinese stuff (the story locker for example, is the lock screen app that shows those weird images). so my conclusion is: stay away from those sh!t, they are welcome phones at the end of the day.
Hey Smoorez, I am very excited for this one as my father used to daily drive similar F series phone(not this specifically but it was a gionee F, atleast thats just what I remember) in 2016 - 2017, unfortunately he lost it in 2017, but I still have my old gionee p7 max (tho its battery is lost, and power button doesn't work).
Also, Gionee was like a major player back in the days (in my country they went complete head on against apple and Samsung and were surprisingly doing pretty good), they not only sold phone is China but they also sold in whole southeast Asia. you can actually find a few documentaries by Indian Tech UA-camrs on gionee. What I recall was that their founder lost a lot of money in gambling and Gionee went bankrupt.
Be aware when swapping those batteries that the old battery probably had a lower charge limit (meaning it only safely goes up to 4.2V) meanwhile any phone battery from the last 10 years or so will have a higher limit (at least 4.35V, up to 4.47V on more modern phones). Basically the phone is tuned to allow the battery to charge to a higher voltage, which is compatible with more recent batteries. That difference may not seem like much but is enough to start rapidly decomposing the electrolyte in a cell that doesn't support the higher voltage. Usually nothing will happen immediately, but in some cases it can build pressure in the cell since the decomposing electrolyte is outgassing and could cause the cell to vent or burst. Obviously these voltages are only reached toward the end of charge, so not letting it get all the way up to 100 should be enough to stop this.
My 2012 Nexus 7 still holds at least 70% charge. I just charged my 2012 LG Spectrum 2 and it also holds a charge. Also have many Palm OS devices with original batteries and they still hold a week or two on a single charge. Often times the original Li-ion battery still works but needs to be externally charged out of circuit. Even if it may be puffy it can still be saved. Many fear the spicy pillow but the gas inside are evaporated electrolytes that CAN convert back into the liquid/gel phase. Once you charge and discharge the battery becomes more wrinkled and saggy as there isn't pressure building up. I usually use a camera battery charger that does both single and 2-cell batteries. The only ones that cannot be saved are ones that have popped or vented, trying to charge one of those will always cause a fire. Also I'm only taking about portable li-ion pouches and not multi-cell laptop batteries or anything more complex like ev batteries.
I brought a Gionee phone before in China, I don’t remember what model it was but it was amazing. But durability wise it was not so good, I dropped in on the floor once then the wifi and bluetooth stopped working.
Since you have a huge collection of phones ,what you can do is take one from a known brand like xiaomi ,and install a custom rom .For example a redmi note 3 or redmi note 4 comes with 3/4 gb of ram ,which is more than enough if you have custom rom installed ( and no Google play services).
