Love this knife. Please keep the true zero grind edge version, barely anyone else does this on a folding knife (they always sneak a secondary bevel on there!).
Have had this knife for a good 3 years now. Has been my EDC and it has performed perfectly and to satisfaction. I don't mind the steel used. It keeps this model affordable, unlike my ultimate hunter, which I would never use the way I use my Finn Wolf.
If you remove the thumb stud, can you still open the blade with one hand? Would you mind trying it out for me? I live in an area where I can carry locking knives but they can't be one hand opening.
@@kothaelser3282 I would, but the stud in my knife was so tight that I stripped the head the last time I made the adjustment. As for being opened single handed without the stud. You can pinch with your ring and middle finger against your thumb in a way that you can inch the blade up far enough to continue the full open with continued pressure with the side of your thumb. It should be even easier since the indentation where you would have more surface area to work with is where the stud currently is. I tried to do this farther down, but your thumb may come close to the edge at this angle. The motion is smooth and I think you'll be happy with it. It is one of the only folders out there that has enough of the blade protruding from the handle that makes this easy. It will draw some attention though, because of this. It will easily pass as a two hand open like this though. Btw, it is still on me every day and has sharpened well. I use it almost every day and have only had to tighten the pocket clip once. Lock system is tight as ever and action has only gotten more smooth over time.
@@Zematus737 Thank you very much for the detailed reply. Sadly, I can't risk carrying it then. If I'm caught in possesion of a locking one handed opener, I may be fined up to 12.000$ (usually under 500$), they knife will be confiscated and I may lose all weapon related permits.
@@kothaelser3282 That's unfortunate. I don't understand what your alternative can be, if even a boy scout victorinox can be flicked flipped open by the knife edge single handed.

Upgrade the steel, and I'll buy another! Had to take mine to an oil stone for a little bit before it was usable since the heat treat on the factory edge caused some rolling and chipping. Don't get me wrong, this is a fantastic folder, but a better steel would make it even more so.
Mine is doing the same thing. Just carved a little wood and it rolls.. Nauseatingly frustrated. Did you ever grind down to better treated steel? Or am I going to be sharpening it every time I use it?
@@uticacrib1664 It seemed like the softer steel was right at the edge itself. It only took a few passes on a 400 grit stone to reach the harder material. I haven't had to actually sharpen it much since. Now all it takes is just a strop to maintain the edge.
@@SurvivorEH28 Thanks. I needed a light at the end of the tunnel. I really enjoy this knife. But it's my first scandi grind blade. I'll take it to my dc4 and keep an eye on it. The AUS8A steel hasn't given me much joy yet.
@@SurvivorEH28 Update and confirmation on this blade. I took my dc4 to it like it was my job one night. And then went out the next day a beat the piss out of it batoning frozen maple. Edge stayed true and the triad held up fine. Minor loosening of the main blade screw. But nothing serious that couldn't be fixed. It's good.. Just made me wonder at first. Thanks again Evan.
@@floppinfish I actually tried to remove it and it's pretty solidly embedded. It could be just my knife. I don't really have a problem sharpening though. I use an axe pommel stone and the surface is not as large as the runway on other longer stones.
Good luck sharpening an S35vn Scandi edge.. That's a lot of surface area to try and wear away from a high abrasion resistance powdered metal.. AUS8 isn't really that bad on a knife that's easy to keep sharp... However what I would like to see them do is offer a Finn Wolf in 01 or 1095. Carbon Steels tend to just work well with Scandi edge geometry.. My Mora Companion Carbon is my go to crafting knife.
The triad lock system works a treat guys we know this now it's your blade steel and edge lasting ability that needs to upgrade aus8 is similar to 8cr13mov which is a budget steel
AUS8 is not a budget steel. It is the Japanese equivalent to American 440B. 8CR13mov might look similar on paper, but it is a lower quality Chinese steel that does not stand up to hard use the way AUS8 does. Thanks to all crying everyone like yourself did over AUS8, everything made now is either cheap Chinese steel or expensive, out of reach super steels that make the knives cost far more than most working people can afford. AUS8 and 1095 were great steels for the average person -- easy to sharpen, took a great edge, break and chip resistant, and most of all -- affordable. Those days are gone now and Cold Steel is one of the last knife makers to use AUS8, but that will soo be gone as well. It's sad that ignorance about steel quality ruined many of the best knives ever made for the money. People should be snagging up these Finn Wolves in AUS8 while they can.

The weight-hang test was cut extremely short, looks like it could have handled way more. This filter needs to go and you need to even-out the audio levels more, some parts are way too soft and other much too loud. The way it's filmed makes it look like ass.
Please start making the Finn Wolf in CTS-XHP and an option for a 4" blade model.

Note: The edge rolling came from shaving down a 2x4 at work. No knots, no nails... Just the wood itself was enough.
