Bird Folded Refractor

This is a very nicely fabricated Unitron 4inch folded refractor made by Malcolm Bird. See the advantages of such a design and learn some of the ins and outs of this scope. Compare it with its sibling the Unitron 132C. This kind of scope has never become really popular with amateur astronomers. Many are probably intimidated by the strange design and concerned about perceived difficulties with adjusting the scope. If you think collimating such a telescope is difficult you are mistaken. It is really much easier than a Richey-Chretien and not much more difficult than a Newtonian. Watch and see for yourself.
