She's so good at picking good roles. She's got the haughty mannerism of a Victorian middle-class woman nailed. She seems so chilly and cold, but also you feel pity for her too. It's perfect.
Streep's accent is giving me serious Winona Ryder vibes... It's fascinating to see that whilst Streep speaks for the whole scene and Irons not at all, both wield such command through the screen. Stay safe, Win Xx

To Sucath Wa's defense, the actress herself stated that she regrets her performance in this movie. I don't mind it, but it's a bit much for the screen. This kind of acting is more suitable for in-person theater, but to each their own tastes I suppose...
@@jonno.alexander She didn't say that she regrets the performance, she just said that she would have done it better now, but it's still one of her most critically acclaimed performances with many awards... As the legend Bette Davis said, a movie performance needs to be a bit theatrical...

Streep is so bewitching in this role.
Watch an interview with Graham Norton. She called that her worst performance and I agree it's kinda bad.

No one has a cell phone
No cell service in those woods.
I don't know why Bette Midler didn't get that job. ;-)
A good performance, if not her best. Perhaps she was miscast. But this still teaches.
Julie Christy is the only one for me!
Honestly, if I had a chick wallowing in self-pity like this, I'd be running for the hills.
her "Drama"
She's not so much self-pitying as she is bored and frustrated with her life and limited opportunities.

Nice trolling!
Her acting is appaling and doesnt do the book justice. This is a joke.
What are your acting credentials?

Meryl Streep hates her own acting in it.
