Freakin KILLER!~!!!! These guys definitely were the forerunners of grunge. J's song writing style is phenomenal... One of my favorite songs from that year ('87)!
underappreciated riff master. i firstly discovered this track as atari teenage riot sampled this, but the whole first Dinosaur Jr album is a absolute smasher.
J. Mascis is one hell of a musician , I bought some record in the early 90s with him drumming in it , the record was Upsidedown cross´s ´st` debut and his drumming is excellent in that , one of the best sludge/Noise rock albums of all time afaIc .
I'm glad there is lots of love for dinosuar jr. These guys are awesome. So cool to meet. Lou was selling sorts and CDs at his Sebadoh shows and murph always will take a picture with fans.
It's precisely because they're single coils..They're going to be much hairier than humbuckers, which are tighter sounding with Hi gain...And J uses a ram's head era Big Muff going into those pickups which accounts for his wooly tone. You could get a similar sound with a SSS strat running the middle pickup.
Honestly you Have to see this band live before you leave this earth. Its A Complete and Totally loud Religious Experience! Its An Awakening! Im not hyping them up. Its The Truth. It was loud and raw and Beautiful and man you have to live it to Be able to Feel it.. Good luck
I'm waiting Please, come back I've got the guts now To meet your eye Those guts are killing But I can't stop now Got to connect with you, girl Before I forget how
I think Kurt Cobain was actually a fan of dinosaur jr - He actually invited the singer, J Mascis, to join Nirvana on multiple occasions if I remember correctly, but he declined
OptionallySavage i dont know whats with you , but lou likes freaking people out , thats why he got kicked out of dinosaur jr before , he freaks out j and murph
Dinosaur Jr. aged better than every other late 80s early 90s band
No other band in the history of rock and roll can mess with Sludgefeast.
A song not a band?
Holy trinity sludgefeast, tarpit, the lung
Bess band ever
@@kentojonah not tarpit, in a jar
Murph and Lou walk in like it hasn't been 25 years and fucking kill
Murph!!
It's amazing how dinosaur jr are still this good!
they should offer lessons to other older bands on the topic. How to improve with age.
@@TheSickNeeds straight up.
Lou plays that bass so cool it's unreal
he is the BEST!
Lou is a freak of nature A gift
Ahhhh, to shred like that, having one of the best bass players ever helps too
Love DJ!
Who knew crossing Neil Young and Black Sabbath would be so magical!
Freakin KILLER!~!!!! These guys definitely were the forerunners of grunge. J's song writing style is phenomenal... One of my favorite songs from that year ('87)!
DAMN this came out in 87??? wowzers
SST great label
Dr jr and the pixies broke the new ground
Absolutely one of my all time favourite songs. and this performance of it is stunning. I've been playing this non stop!
Pete Millis they played it when I saw them last fall in Akron, it was icing on the cake. Great show.
Me too!!
That bass guitar is hung so damn low it's freaking me out.
and he plays fucking chords. it kills me how good he is on that thing.
Lou can get away with it because of his long arms and he primarily plays on the neck pickup (or higher) to get that signature tone
@@cd8268 and his giraffe neck..
no one.... no one sounds like this Some bizarre coincidence brought these fellas together... thank the gods.
Jay's having fun!
Ya he almost even smiled!
That was a very, very good solo
Super solo, drums and bass are perfect as well. Three will do just fine, thanks!
Absolutely incredible, my favourite song, still love this band after nearly 30 years
2:06 Does anyone else notice how high the action is on J's guitar?
He always has it high.
he told in an interview that he wants the guitars to fight against him
One of his trademarks.
it lets him grab bends and hit really hard without fucking up and smashing his hand in
That guy knows his way around some pedals for sure. Best 3 pc of 50 + guys that I know of. Rockin
26 Years and this is still one of my favorite Dinosaur songs!
I've seen Dinosaur Jr over 15 times, and can't wait to see them again. Last show recently at Terminal Five in NYC. The best show live.
Going back to NYC in December. Get your tickets 30th anniversary of where you been.
No fear of fucking up, just complete vintage, (better with time) control and quality. One of the true greats.
4:16 and out, is my favorite part in a song from now on! It's so brilliant! :)
underappreciated riff master. i firstly discovered this track as atari teenage riot sampled this, but the whole first Dinosaur Jr album is a absolute smasher.

One of the greatest Rock songs of all time

Every time I feel down dinosaur Jr make me feel better, bright light😊, kisses for all every other fans
Pure awesomeness...
This band is perfect. Dinosaur jr. And Alice in chains will always be my favorite rock bands
Remember Lollapalooza?
Same FN show
Great day
I love this Band so much
The drums sound phenominal in this version.
Wow, this sounds better than the record!
best encore song ever
my favorite dinosaur jr song
何故にルーバーロウが 凄いと思うベーシストとか憧れのベーシストとかカッコいいベーシスト的なやつの名前に挙がらんのか理解不能。唯一無二。
Dinosaur Jr were brilliant @ The Powerstation 2013 !
they r fanatstics!!!!!
Mighty song. Often the last song before the encore to blow your head off if it had not been done before,
turn the fucking bass up
make it go to 11
Lou Barlow is god
His tone could cause a 5.0 magnitude hurricane.
@@Frijolero18 And that Rick is one of the prettiest guitars I've ever seen
So good - 3 pc sounds perfect when the players are up to the task..
So sick when that low end breaks in! 😅
But aren't they all...
2:08 Like a train blasted through
Amaze
I love J Mascis' eyes at 3:03. It fits the mood of the song around that point too.
Dinosaur jr kicks ass!
That end its a fire race in the desert
Coolest guitarist ever
So great X
THIS INTRO IS BETTTTTERRRR AAAAA
How does he get single coil Jazzmaster pickups to sound so damn mean??
Drew B It's all the pedal work, I reckon.
Mark Wright not to mention he has his action as high as a slide guitar. I don’t know how he even has fingers anymore.
It's precisely because they're single coils..They're going to be much hairier than humbuckers, which are tighter sounding with Hi gain...And J uses a ram's head era Big Muff going into those pickups which accounts for his wooly tone. You could get a similar sound with a SSS strat running the middle pickup.
@Mark Wright For sure. And he started as a drummer so he has this kind of "percussiony" way of playing that's unique.
@@wilsonrutherford7519 kinda Doug martch esque with the sss strat in the middle.
Favorite track on YLAOM!
dinousaur Jr its fucking amazing band, please come to mexico!!
Only one small thing missing? Like, the greatest solo outro of all time?
They still do it Like No other........
This awesome song resemblesme of Kyuss's Starship Landing.
Riffage and epic.
Great production from our NZ cousins!
Honestly you Have to see this band live before you leave this earth.
Its A Complete and Totally loud Religious Experience!
Its An Awakening!
Im not hyping them up.
Its The Truth.
It was loud and raw and Beautiful and man you have to live it to Be able to Feel it..
Good luck
Holy f*ck!!!!! what a huge sound with a great sound! totally thumbs up ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
I can't help but hear Bloodstains in the way Sludgefeast ends.
Perfection
right up there with the great power trios of all time. rush, cream etc. not quite prog rock but I'll take it.
1:56 idk but this always gives me a cure vibe
Around 2:40 is amazing
as good as it effing gets
Plus Witch´s ´st` debut with Mascis in it too should have some dripping conts in here . That is the best rock album of the decade .
what was lou doing? haha j started playing and he started his part later. but i like it anyway!
Art he probably forgot to turn off his tuner pedal
buenisimo
Dear Jay, please go easy on Lou and Murph, they have performed on some of my all time favorite tracks. So they can't be that bad , right?
🤩
looks like he stepped on a pedal, so maybe his tuner was on and muted the bass?
And the guitar tone is still straight out of the late 80s
fucking amazing
Dinosaur Jr. Rules.
Anyone know what delay he’s using here?
always
yummers
I never thought I'd actually have to say this but J's guitar needs to be louder!
Haha, as funny as it sounds you're right! You can tell they compressed his guitar sound in the mixing room. Sounds great though nonetheless
nah, I like how much the bass cuts through. Gives an insane punch to the mix, even if we don't get to hear J's shredwork as well
I miss being in a sludge band
tabs for this song, its your turn your rock out!

save the best for last they said.
3:02 j's eyes, wtf
wait im a newb... but how does he play the bass like a regular guitar like that??
This. Is. Dinosaur Jr.
J really needs to calm down
The sludge they are feasting on was made by AIC in the sludge factory
foda!!!
Anyone got bass tabs for this song
Fucken ace!!!!
Does he play in drop D? Cant make sense of his handplacement otherwise.
I'm not sure.
I'm waiting
Please, come back
I've got the guts now
To meet your eye
Those guts are killing
But I can't stop now
Got to connect with you, girl
Before I forget how
I realize that perhaps this goes without saying but man, J really looks (sounds) like he'd rather not be singing at all.
Ben Pierce for the record, J Mascis always looks like he doesn't wanna be singing.
He always looks that way, but, he is loving every minute of it.
which gorm disliked this?
this is a Bible for Nirvana & Sonic Youth
dinosaur jr is a great sludge band more dirty than grunge more slow than metal lol
7 people missed the like button
That grey-haired singing guy looks tired. I wonder if that loud music wore on him. You get worn out. Ears wear out, right?
thats just who he is
that's J. He is rather glacial
Yea Nirvana was soooooooo original
I think Kurt Cobain was actually a fan of dinosaur jr - He actually invited the singer, J Mascis, to join Nirvana on multiple occasions if I remember correctly, but he declined
yea i know i was just joking love both
on the drum, yea i know bruh
OptionallySavage i dont know whats with you , but lou likes freaking people out , thats why he got kicked out of dinosaur jr before , he freaks out j and murph
going thru the motions :|
Dinosaur Jr? I think you mean Tool.
