I was a team dancer and a clogging instructor for many years. This is a great job! Yes it's step dancing and buck dancing too, but so is most clogging these days. Clogging is an evolving dance that is a true FOLK dance. That's why people see so many different styles. It isn't just one type and isn't supposed to be. This group did a GREAT job!
that jumprope thing.... AMAZING! I have never seen that incorporated into any dance routines!! Also, so glad to see clogging getting attention worldwide! Keep up the excellent work!!!!
Absolutely loved it. I am so tired of seeing frantic, fast routines. Some think just because it's fast, it's good. This is entertaining and artistic. Keep it up.
If this is so easy, some of you give it a go sometimes. These young ladies are very good. It takes discipline and love of the art to do this stuff without error. To go through the routines that they have already done and then do the rope work speaks volumes of their dedication and fitness. Well done.
this is wonderful clogging! and Clogging is a very individual dance. It's a mix of several kinds of step dancing - lots of different styles are allowed! and I REALLY love the outfits! I dance with a group who wear giant petticoats which make me look like a big ol' chicken!!!
This is AWESOME!! My last name is Stodola & my husband's family is from old country Bohemia. I would LOVE to learn more about Czechoslovakia! Thx for posting! (The dancers are AMAZING, by the way:)
The first clogging group is pretty awesome. I loved the beginning when everyone had to harmonize the different steps. The second group of only 3, was a bit to repetitive in their steps, but good non the less. The jump rope was an awesome addition. Pretty good overall. Not a huge fan of the music selection, but the cloggers all demonstrated potential to do much more. I have been clogging since 98 with various groups in Louisiana. Always looking for new footage of cloggers!
They are excellent about being so accurate and together! And the jumping rope is impressive but easily done with the hop-steps right at the same time. I guess it is true to the typical clogging style, but I'm a clogger, and I prefer the high energy style with less country-type music.
The steps are very much different. Different technique, different rhythm. What can be a little bit confusing is that we tried to use steps which look impressive for the spectator and one way how to do it is to rise the legs up which can look a little bit irish maybe.
@hatalfantasy lol it was just a joke about the tapping. i am irish and irish dance and the basic shuffle ball change steps and rythme they do remind me of it. Thats all, no offence meant to tradtional clogging....cus i think its pretty awesome. Any dance where you make the beat it briliiant. lol
I like it - well done. The steps have much in common with old time European step dancing, like Scottish, Cape Breton, English clogging or Irish Sean Nós step dancing. Interesting that you based it on American Clogging. Don’t you have an old time Czech tradition of your own?
Irish step dancing was just one of a few influences..There was also Indian, African, amongst others..I'm not knocking it, I'm just saying their style is a more Irish-looking than others, like flatfooting, and some styles of buckdancing which emphasize a bit more heel work than the lovely folks are doing..
@andrewthejones I like how they were told "No Irish need apply," but were like "Erm, no" and took over the police force and the government, lol. Crafty fellas, gotta love 'em.
Not bad at all..Have done a lot of flatfooting, clogging and buckdancing, to me this looks a bit too Irish although it's very good..Just my preference..good stuff, although I would have liked more traditional music..Ropes were a great idea..

I'm huffing and puffing from just watching them.
Good stuff!
The person who teach us technic for years is a czech clogger Jan Pumpr
Clogging is usually called as an American traditional dance but the beginnings can be found in England and Ireland I think.
Thank you :-)
clogging shoes have different tap on thiere shoes called jingle taps and of course cloggin have different steps
The music is from Nickel Creek
I want to do this some day

This is very good ! I have seen your video
many times and keep coming back.
What is the name of the music for part one ?

you're really good:)) and I must say that I am withdrawing because the music I enjoyed it better without the music:))) but as I said it's beautiful:))
is there a diffrence between clogging and tapdancing? (other then clogging seams a bit more layed back..)

Hi again, I clog in Arkansas USA.
We are all from Czech :-)

that's closer to Irish Step dancing than it is to Buck Dancing, Cyndie395.
why do you think?
Wow, don't know where you got that info, but I suggest you do a little more research.
what exactly? Not becase it isn´t traditional clogging doesn´t mean it´s irish. I´ve never did irish dances.
great dancing - how about better outfits for these VERY talented dancers??!!?
@tapdancegirl88
you were not in a good mood writing this comment?
Thanks for your constructive critics
I´m afraid I can´t agree with you. This is not a step dancing. it´s buckdancing, flatfoot and canadien.
@SpiffilyPeachy
@andrewthejones I like how they were told "No Irish need apply," but were like "Erm, no" and took over the police force and the government, lol. Crafty fellas, gotta love 'em.
no money for the wooden shoes
Errr. Clogging was alive and well in the North of England..rather earlier than the modern Irish stuff....
Not bad at all..Have done a lot of flatfooting, clogging and buckdancing, to me this looks a bit too Irish although it's very good..Just my preference..good stuff, although I would have liked more traditional music..Ropes were a great idea..
The dancing is gorgeous but the costumes don't flatter the beautiful dancers.
It is a bad synchronisation.
THEY STOLE THIS FROM THE IRISH!! ha ha
You fale at clogging.
