My best friend came to Fayetteville in 1970 and he said his first job was working construction on the post office that is at Dickson and St. Charles Ave. Was there another PO on Dickson? Or maybe he worked on an addition? Your videos are making me homesick. I left there 14 years ago but Fayetteville will always be home.
The Dickson/St. Charles P. O. was dedicated on May 19, 1963 by J. W. Fulbright. Maybe your friend worked on an addition, I don't know. There was an old P. O. substation at West and Dickson for years but it closed in '63 with the new one. The old one on the Square was used for letter sorting, as I understand it, until about 1970.
