What a joke! Listen, the fact that Swiatek has been more vulnerable against fast hard hitting players who hits flat, I doubt that she can handle whatever Maria throws at her. Plus, Swiatek is known for her topspin and kick serve, plus her defense, but Sharapova is known for her ferocious backhand, tremendous mental strength and her flat groundstroke on both wings. Not to forget, she is also a clay court slam champion, which is a testament why her defensive game is also often underestimated. If i can compare those two and analyse their games and overall play/ groundstrokes side by side, SWIATEK is only better than Maria at her movement. Maria has a great forehand that can be dangerous at any given time, while her backhand is a lot better. Maria is a more aggressive returner as well, and at her best level, her serve is one of the best in the game(We are not talking about her shoulder injury serve). Maria has played plenty of other formidable players like Kim Clijsters, Justine Henin, Lindsay Davenport, Azarenka, Ivanovic, Mauresmo,Hingis, Myskina, Kvitova, Radwanska, Wozniacki, Venus Williams, Serena Williams, Kerber, Muguruza, Halep, and of all these players, Serena Williams has the best winning percentage against her, followed by Henin, Mauresmo, Kerber, and Clijsters which both Kerber and Clijsters had a 8/7 and 4/3 records against her. Swiatek meanwhile has a bad record against Ostapenko, Rybakina, Ashleigh Barty, Muguruza whom aside from Barty, were all flat hard hitters. She would have been a good challenge for Sharapova, because Maria loves hitting big groundstrokes from her shoulder height, just watch her matches against Samantha Stosur, Schiavonne, Sloane Stephens who are great top spin forehand players. If you think there is a chance Swiatek will be dominant against Maria, is by having a great service game like Serena. As long as she can hold her serve and win free points a lot more than we are seeing right now, Swiatek can wait until Sharapova started to break on her own serve. In reality, that isnt her kind of game. Her game is big kick serve to the forehand, and then taking control from there with her relentless forehand. But, that kind of game is always Maria's key to attack, because she likes to attack a heavy kick serve, and returning well from the baseline. It's just no way to believe that Swiatek will be a big competition against Maria, even at the very best of Justine Henin peak performance, she always has bigger trouble when she's against Maria despite winning more head to head records, and Justine Henin is that kind of player level other than Serena to really can challenge Maria. Swiatek is not as good as Barty, at least I can say Barty is actually a player of a higher level than Maria although she didnt win many GS and retire early. Barty is still a little bit lower in terms of level hierarchy of play below Justine Henin, whom i considered as the second best after Serena.
