Wow! This is so cool to me. It made me tear up seeing how happy opening this made you! I felt your inner child awaken & it was so sweet to watch. Thank you for waiting all these years, not giving into opening it & finally sharing this moment with us, Todd! ❤️ I'm going through a lot in my life right now & just seeing your smile & true happiness looking back on fond memories from your childhood makes me happy. I'm 23 & I never did a time capsule as a child, but this makes me want to do one even now at 23 for when I am in my 50's or older to look back on with my future children one day. 🙂
It was a challenge but it made it so special when I finally did it. I highly recommend it. Do it tomorrow! Don't wait. Sooner you do it, the sooner you will be able to open it. Thanks for the kind words. You're comment made me feel great over my silly 8th grade decision! ❤️❤️
Awesome! I dug a time capsule and not opening in 25 years, I'll probably be married and have kids but I put a soda in there and some other cool things like notes saying what's going on in the world rn and what I think will happen, great video!
My dad did the same except he buried it in his backyard on August 14th 1980 when he was 10 years old We recovered it 40 years later it contained a bunch of stuff it had a mix tape his brother made for him in the summer of 1980 which contained the latest hits at the time, a Star Wars toy, a roll of Super 8mm film which we still don’t know what’s on it, a movie stub for Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, and a letter from his 10 year old self Which said Today is Thursday August 14th 1980 To whoever finds this in the year 2000, send it back to me through a time portal, so I can write you back on the current events of this year which are Jimmy Carter is president of the US, the rock group Queen just released a new album, there’s a new Star Wars movie out in theatres I’m looking forward to seeing the next one Those are the events that are happening in 1980 so please write back soon My dad had a wild imagination about the future
Great video! I recorded Star Trek eps from the TV back in the 1970's and listened to them in bed under the covers at night, too! 🖖😊 And my brother had a baseball cap piggy bank as well, though his was Cincinnati Reds! 😊
I'm currently 17 I'm planning on burying a time capsule. And in that time capsule it's going to going to have a DVD with a video of me giving directions to another time capsule which has old coins from the 1940s and I buried that one in 2018. I will open the time capsules in the year 2050 so I'll be 47 year old
Sorry to tell you, but if the DVD contains organic dye, it probably won't last even near 30 years. If you've already made the capsule you should open it and replace the DVD with an M-Disc DVD, M-Disc Blu Ray, magnetic tape, clay tablet or something else made to last decades. Also make sure the capsule is very water tight, as groundwater can be pushed in and destroy some of the contents. Throwing in some desiccant would probably be good too, reducing the chance of condensation. Would suck waiting 30 years only to find out the contents are destroyed, even more so than having to redo it after 2-3 years.
I made a time capsule with my best friend in the 90’s but he told me 20 years later that he waited a week before digging it up and taking everything home for himself! Couldn’t he have at least buried back our letters to ourselves! Jeeesh!
just put it in your attic and not burried it🤔 nice..i also made time capsule but i cant burried it because our place was cemented ill just put it in a closet and sealed😊
Mine was actually in several attics as we moved. 😁 Just make sure it's in a back corner that is safe from weather and safe from eyes (including your own - aka try to lose it up there)
I made one at the end of 1999 when I was 20. I’m going to be opening it this year in 2020 now I’m 40. It’s been stashed in my mother’s loft. Just waiting until I get a better camera, and it’s why I’m watching videos of other people opening theres.
This is so cute and meaningful
Your dog is literally like “who cares 🙄.” Great video 😂
He always is... 🤣
Pets are pets and people are people and that's that!

We all thought The Future was soooo close... Dumb kids. 🤣🤣
Thanks for sharing that!!!!! I wish I would have seen that!!! Your dad sounds great!
This is absolutely amazing!
Loved this. I would like to see what the money looked like
It was a bunch of dirty half dollars. Might be the only thing that was worth something... Face value! 🤣
This is awesome!! I have that same Alf, and my kids play with him now. I think it was a Burger King promotion.
It was from Burger King! Good memory!
Alf is still the 80s king
I am fascinated by time capsules and other stuff that gives a look into the past, so this is great!

Me too!! Mine was hiding in different attics across the different places I lived. Luckily, nobody had a roof leak! 😁

My pleasure. Hope you enjoyed!
The cassette mix tape made me laugh the songs on it 😂
i love your personality omg
Legend ! Fellow Gen X-er here. I have an ALF figurine in my mancave.
_blast from the past_
This is so fucking cool to me, I have no connection to the 80s but god it was such a cool decade.

I put cassette tapes in my capsule but I have no way to play them today. You probably won't have a DVD player. Probably better to just make a map...

If you include any type of storage format (be it DVD, flash drive, etc.), include a player or device that can read it in the capsule as well.
I love this and now I am gonna make my own time capsule
Excellent! Good luck! Just remember to hide it away or it will be too tempting.!
The kids in the back😂😂😂
ok
That Yankees stuff probably worth a lot of money
Wow 2019 was 2 years ago jeesh I’m old
would be cool if i thought i'd make it to 30 years
It wasn't easy!! 🤣
More curious about the Alf World Premiere

Wow!:o
Funny thing about time capsules it the person a who made it, also wants to open it later.
Hey, it's 2024 and Alf is still relevant!😊
My whole house is a time capsule
I just wrote a message 4 people in 2050 and put a 2020 25 cents coin in and now I’ll make a time capsule for me that I’ll open in 10 years
Go for the 30! In 10 you'll probably still remember the contents...
