Absolutely great tutorial Bo. Really love the snippets from the Minilogue manual to give more info and context to the functions your talking about. Small details like that take this series to the next level.
Since I bought my Minilogue I have been checking out your videos, I would just like to thank you for single handedly teaching me how to use it. (I sound quite professional!). Thank You.
Very instructive tutorial, Bobeats. I bought a Minilogue a month ago, and after experimenting on my own, it is great to watch tutorials such as these. I appreciate that you describe each setting as you modify it, as opposed to skipping steps. Thanks!
Thanks again for another great tutorial! It has inspired me to put down the Circuit, pull out my minilogue and create a pad using more than just macros :)
thanks man, most helpful . the info on screen is good, I have the manual but really informative to see it applied and explained. You're a good teacher Bo. happy noodlings. peace
I think the minilogue is a great synth. It unfortunately does not fit my soundscapes but it is a very capable instrument. You have been able to coax some very mellow sounds out of it and that is no easy task. I listened to your presents and of course many other videos and I have to say the minilogue has a very dark sound. It can be warm and full but it is always dark, almost spooky at times when you attempt mellow sounds. It seems to loose this dark flavor when it's programmed for wired textures and basses. I think works well for many things but it is in my opinion a spooky synth. Thanks for the videos Bo
I think that is very true. Slightly dark and also brittle sounds. For bass and lead I think it packs the most punch and versatility, pads almost always turn out very dark for me
Could the same pad be built in the Minilogue XD with the same procedure or steps and getting same or close sound? What a great atmosphere!! Still trying to decide which one is right for me; XD or OG. Thanks!
Great work. I am learning so My qestion is DO YOU EXPORT THE SOUND PAD DATA TO A INTERNAL OR EXTERNAL EFFECT DATA BANK? Nice artistic sound design. Cheers Bruce
VST or Minilogue ? i want a minilogue, but what i do with my vsts, i will have too much choice. But if i have a Minilogue i dont need a vst like serum, sylenth ? :o i m lost
What synth combines the 4 track sequencing of the Roland jdxi with features found in this Korg? I'm torn between the two. I guess the roland is more for song creation while this korg is more for sound creation. I'd buy both if I had the space, time and $. I really wish korg implemented multi-track sequencing on this. I'd be sold if it did or on something that would combine features of this korg with the 4-track seq of the roland
BoBeats could this Korg be hooked to the Roland jdxi? The Roland has a 4 track 16 step sequencer... great for song building BUT, I love the sound and control the Korg offers. I want both but not if they cant be connected. I want to use both but not thru software, but connected via midi.
Hey Bo, can I ask on which website you found those descriptions you used as overlay captions to describe the analogue "features"? I'd like to give it a read in details!
This is correct: they are only available for Patrons over on www.patreon.com/bobeats - Handling the store was way to much work. Might come back up when EU changes its tax rules
one of my original patches does not sound as it should anymore....it's the sawtooth. Have there been issues with Minilogues and patches going out of tune or changing settings?
Maybe it sounded better when it was out of tune. That is very much my experience with my own minilogue as well, it sounds different depending on how much youve given it time to warm up or, just the weather. Youll need to retune it after a bit of use almost always though: SHIFT+REC.
This is not your fault, but the Minilogue is just not a pad synth...the envelope reset is it’s huge weakness in this regard. Your programming is about as good as this is gonna get, and I’ll say you made about the nicest pad you’re likely to get.....However, when I turn on my Prophet ‘08 or Matrix 12 the pads just roll out of it with no effort whatsoever. You’d probably have a ball with synths that deep, just as I do. All in all, well done on the sound, nice touches in the video!
@@saturatedneowax Sounds like it; some synths have a "legato mode" where if you play a series of notes, the envelope only happens once for the series, not once for each note. This sounds like what he means.
You can do this with the Minilogue, sorta. If you turn the portamento time to 0 and then play a note beyond it’s voice capacity (a 5th note in poly, a 3rd in duo, and 2nd in mono, etc) while holding down the original notes, then the envelope will not retrigger. It is a workaround but it does exist.
Lawlz the only gear I have now a days is the po-12 and a kp mini. Running them through Glitch on Reaper is the shit and a half. It's actually not that hard producing breakcore on a pocket operator.
Kind of misleading in some parts. You say you turn down a setting, like delay but I see you adjust 3 other knobs, hence the resulting sound is not just the delay adjustment. Makes it really hard to follow what your doing
I should have shot it in a better angle. But I summarize what I am doing I think. And misleading would be a very misleading word to use my dude. I wasnt clear enough :-) I can agree on that much
I start with Init Program, all my octaves are the same, and from the get go I’m an octave lower than you. Sounds the same otherwise. My master tune in Global is 0 cents and zero notes. There’s a lot to learn with this thing.
honestly i hate this synth, besides its basic square saw and squares with some lfos. using it for pads sounds so cheesy. ive had it for about a year and i use it for everythingbut honeslty its bass is so weak, ive tried to make it sound fat, and no matter how much you dirty it up, it sounds like it has a high pass filter on it.

This is a fantastic tutorial for not only pad, but the overall parameters of each section. Kudos!
Thank you sir!

The pad sounds amazing! Constantly moving with ever evolving sonic interest!
Just got this for an early birthday gift, love it, getting cables this week to connect it to my DAW, thanks for this video
I love your videos! I named all of my kids BoBeats.
This video is major, thanks for producing! Your passion for the synth shines, friend--what beautiful sounds.
new owner of the minilogue over here, thanks for these tutorials you are awesome!
My favorite patch how to. Really good and useful :D
Thanks for uploading man!
clear, concise, and highly informative. thank you so much for the minilogue videos, i hope you’ll make more in the future.

Awesome pad! Thank you Bo!
I just got a minilogue and this was so helpful! thanks a lot!!!!
Very cool man I always just wing it on my synth but this helps me a lot . Much appreciated
An excellent presentation as always. Great for any beginner. Thanks Bo

Totally agree with Jon Z, another great tutorial and the visuals from the manual make it even more informative and educational.

If the sustain is at full, the decay has no play. It's value will not affect the sound.
Great video but mine turned out very different...maybe you could add patch diagrams?
Amazing tutorials thank you!

I think you are right in that the Minilogue sequencer is very limited and not meant to create songs on it.

+Nicholas Valbusa that is simply from the manual of the Korg Minilogue :-) which is sort of a intro to synthesis in itself
Ahhh I see! I haven't got the minilogue yet (it's on my christmas list) but I bet it's easy to find the manual from Korg website. Thanks!
Judging from the accent this dood must be swedish 🇸🇪🤘
korrekt!
Why is everyone with a knack for niche accomplishments called Bob Ross ?
Hi I tried your link to buy the patches, but it says you're not selling them any more?

I really like the Minilogue but I can’t get past the polyphony. :(
What do you mean? Do you wish it had more? Less?
@@maxwilson7001 I wished it had more, but I own a Minilogue xd now and it's not as much of an issue as I thought it would be.

I hate to be "thhat guy" but this pad is many things but it certainly isn't epic by my understanding of that term. :(

fAYGO potato it's a fair criticism, look at adding a BS2 or some other bass synth.
Its not the biggest sound that is for sure.
it's all about what kind of music you're making and what kind of sound you want--this synth is great for some styles and just horrible for others.
