Love the fuel tank cleaning procedure. And yes, I think the biggest problem with social media is the anonymity. People say things they never would never say to your face. It’s shameful.

Totally agree.. sad people feel Inpowered ( spelling) and think I can say what ever I want even when they know it’s wrong or hateful. I’ve seen more people push a argument to the point were they know their wrong but can’t stand to admit they are wrong.

I agree with you. The fact that the complete breakdown of the home has caused this as kids are not raised to be civil. Your parents live close. Most of the people that concern you probably don’t even know who their father is, or have no Grand parents close. Kids require a family and structure. Then respect comes. Unfortunately we are from another era.

While watching I was saying, "Other way! OK, there you go...now, slide it over...that's right" as you were loading the tractor tires. Once a farm girl, always a farm girl.

I would really like to see the nutritional analysis on the hay. That’s a topic I’ve been thinking a lot about lately. We’re coming up on our 1 year anniversary of raising cows and this winter I made the rookie mistake of buying cheap hay. As a result, my cows have not gained weight this winter. It was mostly a fescue bale, won’t be making that mistake again!
Do you supplement furtrells minerals in your feeds? I have come upon this for poultry and goat feeds, they may also sell a bovine type

You as a farmer are more intelligent and sophisticated than to be called a mere redneck.
That old tractor is like an ancient, much loved and respected Aunt. She needs to be reminded she is still a vital part of the family with an important job to do. You get some little lawn tractors and gather them around her and she will tell tales of how things were done in the olden days on the farm and how everyone has jobs to do. From the littlest yard tractors to the biggest, oldest gramma and grampa tractors. Just you little ones ask those whipper snappers in the hay barn!

Back to your cattle, I always thought while out filling the water troughs it was a good time to look at my animals and get up close to check body conditioning and overall health. But then as animals get older some problems are totally out of our control.
Having a second pair of eyes such as your veterinarian is also a good thing too they might see things that you don't because you're out with your animals everyday.

Hi Pete! Just recently discovered ur channel and am enjoying it immensely. I live in Los Angles but i was raised on a farm in Southwestern Minnesota. I was initially attracted to the channel because of your Farmall Tractors. My first memory as a child was riding with my Dad on an MD 30 Farmall tractor. I still have a model of it in my display case. Anyway, I am enjoying watching and learning about small farms and is a wonderful reminder and, frankly, an escape from my big city life in LA. I switch from watching your channel to the news about the Russia/Ukraine heartbreaking story. Your comment about being kind is so important at this point in our shared lives. His teacher told my Aunt and when they got home she asked my cousin what he learned from that episode. He said ‘be ye kind,no hit no bite no kick’. Pete - Really enjoy the videos. Your comments on civility are spot on. I’m a 63 year old lawyer and one of the things I like about practising law is the tradition of civility with opposing counsel. It doesn’t always happen, but mostly, in my experience, even in hotly contested matters, there’s a level of civility and respect with my brothers and sisters at the bar. I’m convinced that that’s good for our clients. What you say rings true to me. Hope the deisel fuel tank comes out shiny and clean.

Hi Pete, I certainly get what your saying... we live way out in BC Canada & find its best to stay out of others business - both actual and political. Varying views but our friends and neighbors just need support & friendship. We gave my neighbor an extra ram, he plows my driveway. We gave him a bottle of wine, he took us ice fishing. None of these actions are 'trades' or transactions. Not once have we ever spoken of how our farm or his property operate. Nor have I any idea if he's left or right or what have you. If we need help he's there, if he needs help, we're there. Your farm is an example to us of the old unspoken Canadian admiration for American country goodness, hard work, and ingenuity (that my father would display, but would never admit to, cuz he's Canadian lol) They aren't better than us, nor we better than them. Thanks to you from little bro Canada for trying to show us the way again, & keep up the good work 👍

Watch out for the 70-year-old guy, that's me. Great video of the cows and pigs. Gas tank cleaning is needed on my diesel small tractor. For the first time, nearby large scale gas stations have tape around the pumps, no signs, and cars waiting? The store portion is open. Here in SE Virginia, fuel is getting pricy and becoming hard to find. I mow the 8 acres and use a 2-acre garden. Planting more chestnut trees as we found out there is a demand for the nuts. The Asian community will pay a premium for them. Tractor service next week and riding mower. Thanks for the relaxing video Pete and Hilary.
The best method I've found for breaking the beads on tires -- Lay the tire on the ground, and place a heavy oak plank on the tire like a ramp. Drive the heaviest vehicle you have up onto the ramp to break the bead loose from the rim. Repeat this around the rim as necessary, and on the other side of the rim. It takes two or three minutes for a typical skid-loader tire.
Your closing remarks are spot on. Some people can be quick to judge and have lost the compassion for their fellow man/woman.

Before the last financial crash I was training to be a financial adviser...bad timing. At a training session we were asked, "If you had one wish, what would it be?"
Unsurprisingly, 18 replied, tax cuts!
I replied "that people show consideration towards each other".
Since then, things seem to be worse. Bad manners, selfishness...we even have some people believing smiling at people is a form of assault...no wonder people look at their feet as they walk by.
Perhaps we should commit to "a Good Day Rule" ? We MUST do one act of kindness for another unknown person, every day?
I write as a despairing 57 year old Brit, looking across to Europe and thinking...here we go again, but this time it's final... if wiser heads do not prevail.

Civility. That's the underlying strength and attraction of your channel. It passes to me, from you in a way that is friendly, informative and comfortable. Oh yeah, kinda familiar too ... like most people I enjoy and am comfortable with too.
I get political when uncivil people enter my surroundings. Incivility has always been around but in recent years because of entitlement and monetary greed it's closer to the surface.
And like you said people who should know better don't act it.
Many "pocket-wealthy" but "civility-challenged" people are leaders, politicians or "media influencers".
They talk in raised voices over each other and at, not to people. They think their opinions are gold when mostly they're just theirs.
Incivility is like an infection and Trump tore off the scab and got away with it. Now most anybody thinks it's okay and imitates his behavior. ESPECIALLY our political 'leaders" in Congress. They've failed the country so badly, it shows in education, the economy, internationally and with incivility and unsociability. Sorry for the rant, but your kind of people are necessary for the nation.

It doesn't cost us a thing to say thank you or try to be polite. negativity is like a cancer. We need to remove it as much as we can so that we can live, love and be free. I think that's what the American dream should really be. The pursuit of happiness and to feel like we are not in a hostile environment while we are trying to find that happiness. I love the way you are cleaning the fuel tank for the MD. Give a farmer a problem and they will eventually solve it. I'm with you on civility. The problem I think is too many people out here to day don't think for themselves. They allow Facebook and the 24 hour news channels especially the political ones think for them. Most people today also don't have any common manners anymore. Those pork chops are outstanding and the best part is, they're homegrown.
