Hey Thomas! Volkswagen Sharan and Seat Alhambra also came with a built-in child seat like Volvo XC90. It was optional feature.

I'm hasitating about buying 1 of these 3, and concerned about the most sace per fuel consumption ratio. Thanks in advance!

Great video from Thomas. The Sharan will take 7 adults (even 7 six foot males) plus decent luggage. The Touran will take a family of 7 with kids. That is very different.

Great review Thomas, I have a Seat Alhambra with a similar spec. I notice you had a problem with the folding tables in the rear of the White car. If you pull the table up further it should click and it will be level and secure. Jim (Scotland)

Thomas, I find your presentations really good and very helpful. I would like to ask you something about the Sharan. 1) What is the difference between a TDI 2,0 lt 150 hp engine and a TSI 1,4 lt 150hp engine in terms of power and consumption? 2) Is the petrol engine (1,4 with the 150 hp) powerful enough to move the Sharan satisfactorily or you do you think that Sharan is quite heavy and it would be beter to buy 2,0 lt diesel (184hp)? +Giorgos Kontovas thanks giorgos! The consumption will be about 9 litres / 100 km for the petrol and 7 litres for the Diesel. The petrol accelerations 10 sec 0-100 km/h, the diesel 10,6 sec. But as the Diesel has more torque, it will be at least equal when not faster when the car is heavily loaded. Both engines are really enough for that vehicle.

Always interesting reviews from Thomas, the Sharan is however not a car you know too well. :-) For my use it is very good, many long trips to the mountain during winter, roomy, comfortable and silent, using sport mode when 5-6 adults in the car to ensure somewhat firm ride. Enough space for three tall adults in the back seat. Ground clearance also ok, not as good as SUVs, but better than ordinary cars. (VW Sharan 2012 4Motion)

It's a pity that VW does not offer 4motion version for new Sharan anymore, I have the TDI 150hp 4motion 7 seater which I will keep it for as long as possible

Bright interior could work, but why are the seat belts still black? I think they should reflect the seats and be cream coloured.

I would like to hear your opinion about the TDI 184 DSG for long highspeed Autobahn marches. Is the car stable at high speeds? Is it suitable for high speed Autobahn marches? I miss the Autobahn stage in this review. A review that is otherwise quite excellent.
+Marcus Lejonkamp thanks! Yeah it does also fine on the motorway! Of course the car is quite high so there will be more wind turbulences than in a flat sedan. But overall a good Autobahn car

Fredrik Melin Thanks! Yeah, good point indeed, the next BMW review will follow by the end of next month with the 4-Series convertible. To be frank: BMW obviously does not appreciate our work as much as Volkswagen does, at least not yet.

Speaking about 4motion you were write that when you want you want to take all the options, maybe you didn't know there was such a option (to take all) but in my sharan which is arriving tommorow, there will be 4 motion 180 horse power and with DSG :) but they didn't let to take 7 seats and panaromic roof because according to VW its going to be too heavy with all options. :(

the darker color inside is better because the beije one can show a lot more stains and overtime dirt, spots and imperfections du to usage:)

Thomas - I watched your film with interest and assumed - that having spoken in English that car would be available in England. I am told that the specifications you showed in the dark grey one - in which I am interested - can't be got here i.e. the faux leather seats without a sunroof which takes out headroom and is thus unappealing. Can you advise on this dilemma ?
hey Mitchell, indeed the specs vary from country to country. E.g. in the Kia Niro the white glossy elements on the dashboard are available in France but not in Germany. Sometimes it is very trick. You have to study price lists...

I just picked up my new Sharan 2.0 tdi edition dsg 2017. I have cars for three years and I do about 200,000 km during this time. Previous cars; A VW Maxi Caddy Comfort line 2.0 tdi (140 hp) with an insufferable rear suspension, worthy of a western wagon, and 5 Sharan 2.0 TDI manual gearbox (previous generation without sliding doors). I am a commercial agent and I travel only with bulky samples, I need amplitude, comfort and to be able to use the car over the weekend with the family. Once again VW makes an incomplete product. No spare tire, no puncture kit or anything, comes with puncture-resistant, expensive and limited-supply tires. A prick or burst with a curb, translates into a morning or a day lost ... A real tease. The modularity of the seats is painful, they only fold (no hiding in the floor) being very high and occupy much space still folded. They can not be taken out of the car. With seven seats there is a ridiculous trunk space for seven occupants. Access to the third row is uncomfortable. The improvement of the sliding doors with respect to the previous generation is annulled with the many steps behind given with respect to the rear seats (the fact that they can not be taken out of the car, it seems incredible).

Profiting of the occasion I'd like to ask a question.
Say that You have a fair amount of money, can afford the Touran, Sharan or even the Multivan T6.
Say that you have a family of four ( with two kids below 8 YO) but now and then you need the 6 person capacity inb your car to bring along the Grandparents.
I am considering many options and got really puzzled. Touran is without any doubt the most economic and can be fitted with 8 inch Discover Pro.
Sharan has more space and the sliding doors, which are lacking in the Touran.
T 6 offers even more space, but loading occasional cargo means a lot more of work with seats than in the small ones....
Which one would you chose and why?

Indeed the Touran is the best price/performance bet and it is the newer car than the Sharan. The Sharan does have more luggage space, if that's crucial ... the Touran is the best to drive of those three.
The Multivan is an excellent vehicle too and gives you the biggest flexibility and most room, but is very expensive.
It also depends on: How narrow is your personal parking lot / garage and in which surroundings do you drive?

The Sharan does have quite high seating position in the rear for the kids. You can check any review on the channel, we are always testing the rear seats.
Pity VW will no longer be allowed to sell any TDIs over here in North America.... Pity in deed!

Wie bitte? Thomas hat ein 1a Vokabular und stockt nicht mal 1 Sekunde. Findet immer die richtigen Begriffe und spricht absolut klar und deutlich. Der Wortschatz ist extrem gut. Sein Englisch wird global sicher besser verstanden, als das von "native speakern". Ich fände es viel peinlicher, wenn er versuchen würde seinen deutschen Akzent zu verbergen und auf Cowboy zu machen. Bin ich echt sprachlos bei so einem Kommentar. Mach das mal besser...
